Quite a few people are asking if I am going to be at Crufts this year & the answers is no.
I first started giving demonstration in obedience back in 1994 & then went onto doing Gundog displays for the Kennel Club back in 2001 which were in the small arena. As the years went on we also progressed into the main arena till eventually we had the very best slot which was just before “Best in Show” wow what an honour & privilege that was.
I could not have done any of this without such a wonderful team who supported me & also to keep my in check which is no mean task. As you may know over the years the team has changed as it’s such a huge commitment to give up not only the four long days but the practice on the Wednesday as well. It’s incredibly tiring for both humans & our dear dogs & you really do need the right ones to be able to keep up with all that is going on. What with answering questions throughout the day, the care & manage our own dogs let alone what we have to do in the arena all of which is quite exhausting.
I very pleased that Claudia Atkinson who worked with me for several years has taken up the challenge this year & I do hope she has equal or even more support from her team as I have had over the years.
My dearest thanks go to Maxine Furnandiz, Sally Richardson, Nikki Charles, Christine Spalding, Erica Munro-Ferguson, Maiko Isono, Nigel Stock, Sarah Winter, Julia Deeming, Pepi Barrington, Colette Greenwood, Robert Aldenton, Janet Botterill, Sidney Tilghman to name but a few so I do apologies if I have forgotten to include you which I know as soon as I post this others will pop into my head.
For all of you who are going to the biggest & best dog show in the world I’m sure you will have a great time & I think you would all like to join me in wishing Claudia the very best.
