As it's Christmas day... now is the perfect time to make this announcement!

When we had said Larry had found his new humans, we didn't include who they may be... 🤭
Us, his new humans are us!
We just can't let him go, he's the last turkish dog we plan on helping after helping so many others and he's rather special to us.
So, he's staying and will be our permanent companion!

Merry Christmas to you all ❤️❤️❤️

Thankyou so much to who ever sent us this for little Mabel bean ❤️

You've not been with us long Mabel, but you've certainly made an impact.
Forgotten and dumped by one - incredibly loved by many.
We're not giving up little bean.

I'm so upset about what these animals have gone through.
F***ing angry to be honest.
Excuse my language.

All 3 of the sphynx have been seen properly today.
The two with eye issues have had ultrasounds to see the extent of the eye damage.
The one in the photo below has been left so long with a double eye infection, the eyes have decayed and there's no eyes left.
The other boy is essentially the same, but luckily only with one eye.
He'll need the bad eye taken out and the other cat will need his eye cleaned out and sewn up.

The worst part of this?
When this started as a small infection, it was TREATABLE.
All of these sphynx have come from the same household including the one with the broken leg that was left as it is.
I cannot even begin to imagine the pain and suffering they have all been through.
I just wish the rescue we got them off would tell us where they were from so we could go for a conviction.
These are 3 of 16, the rescue will not let us help the others though unfortunately, we were keen to try help more also as they all have a nasty virus.
The one with the leg issues was said to be fine after seeing a vet and the one below was said to have eyes removed, before we took them.

I'm real upset they're this bad. 😓

Today, leggy cat has been in for his check up.
The other two are still currently in the vets.

Leggy cats prognosis isn't good, as expected.
At some point his leg has been broken and left by a very cruel individual.
He's had this for quite some time, it has fused solid and is now affecting his hips.
He's in a serious amount of pain, showing classic signs from the grimace scale and is also slowly starting to not eat much now - even wet food.

We were given some options, one being put to sleep.
I didn't want to put him to sleep today, so we've gone back to think about it with an xray booked in on the 29th as that's the earliest it can be done.
However, I'm starting to think saying goodbye is the kindest option for him.
They have said that he'll definitely need the leg off but there could be a lot of damage to the other leg by now from how it is twisting and if we spend the 1.5k to take his leg off and the other leg doesn't cope... he'll need to be put down anyway.
It'll also be £500 for the xray, so we've got a lot of thinking to do.
I just want to do the right thing, for him.

The 3 sphynx are in for their vet appointment tomorrow.
This is going to be another extremely high veterinary bill, they've been neglected and abused horrifically.
How this was seen as ok is beyond me, it is really upsetting to say the least.

Tomorrow, two of them will be put under anaesthetic so they can look into the eye sockets and explore the damage done.
Both cats will very likely need what's left of their eyes removing.
One of them will also need his teeth removed.
He is a very scared little boy with what he's gone through and they're both in a lot of pain.
The third one ( leg issues who came in after them but from the same place) i managed to get some videos of and shown them to a vet today in order to get him an appointment ASAP as i don't want him to suffer anymore unnecessarily over Christmas.
They booked him straight in and they'll look at him properly tomorrow - but it is looking like we may lose him.

This is the saddest part of rescue, we want to save as many as we can but if there's suffering and pain with no fixing - we must think of the individuals welfare.
I just hope the other two will be a better outcome if this does happen.
💔❤️

If you would like to help towards our veterinary costs, you are more than welcome to call the vets directly tomorrow and ask to pay towards their bills ❤️

My little bean is finally back home ❤️
I've missed her all day.

Mabel has spent the day in the vets, she's had her xrays done and unfortunately she has a very rare congenital development deformity called hemimelia.
She has patellas missing and her fibulars on her back legs, which is why they just float about!
They're not connected in her little leggies.
The next stage is an orthopaedic surgeon to have a look at what's going on and see if we can fix or splint, but they're still worried that she'll have other things going on too with the genetic issues.

Either way, it's going to be bloody expensive if we go to a specialist but we aren't giving up on her!! ❤️❤️❤️
Here is today's proof of veterinary bill for her.

Happy baby ❤️

Our Story

Hello and welcome to Cornpop Critter Rescue. We are a completely non profit rescue that is run by myself and my Grandmother on a large bit of land. Animals have always been our passion and their welfare is one of our biggest concerns. We absolutely adore them no matter what they are and try to help as many as we can...big or small! We help a variety of animals including all forms of wild animals and most species of domesticated animals, we are very knowledgeable with most species. I personally have rescued and rehabilitated both domesticated and wild animals for the past ten years with much success. With wild animals we aim to release but if this is not possible, we will keep them here permanently at the rescue providing it is ethical and fair to the animal in question. We are currently not open to the public due to Covid 19 unless otherwise stated. Should you need advice about an animal whether that be to do with housing or care, please feel free to pop us a message and we will try our very best to advise. Should we not know the answer, we can direct you to someone who does! Should you need us to help with an animal, please pop us a message with all information on said animal(s). If it is urgent, please contact us directly on the number provided on the page. We are completely non judgmental no matter the situation and everything remains confidential. Please note that all animals up for rehoming have a homing fee to cover all aspects of care including veterinary fees. We will also need to see where the animal will be living and what accomodation he/she will be living in. All animals are quarantined for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to rehoming as a standard procedure to prevent the spread of illness and disease. Thankyou for reading and king regards, Lauren.
