Thankyou to the lady who brought us an ICU.
Both of mine have pretty much packed up now and i cannot afford to replace them at the moment so this was a massive help, just in the nick of time.

Last night one of the African greys collapsed with no warning and completely unresponsive with very laboured breathing.
This small but very effective device may just save his life, hopefully.
I'm currently working on getting him stable enough to see another vet.
(The toilet roll is too keep the head up so he doesn't choke if he brings anything up. The sock is quick thinking to keep him secure so he doesn't hurt himself if and when he does wake up)

***SAFE***

This dog has into 6pm today before he is put to sleep.
Please note this dog is NOT in our care, we are just posting to try save his life.
This dog needs rescue space only and cannot be released to the public as he is unassessed intact.

Seven male ducks, several ferrets, a ridiculous amount of dogs due to be put down and numerous cats I've been asked to help just today alone and after my post.
How am i meant to keep saying no? 😥
It's breaking my heart.

If any cat rescues have space, please let us know.
We can't ethically take anymore adults.
Dog rescues with space for emergencies are also handy to know please.
I need some rescues to work with.

***FOSTER SECURED***

This dog is 8 months old and owners are taking her to the vets to be put down for snapping at another dog that tried to mate with her.
She d1es TODAY!
She either needs another rescue or a foster through ourselves in order to save her life ASAP.
We have little to no funds left but i cannot let her perish.

She is said to be good with everything, she just had this one issue because she is in season.
She's been around young children but at this stage no young children please if fostering for us.
All resident dogs must be neutered/spay and vaccinated if fostering for us.
Any rescue offering will be checked prior.
Please direct message only.
She is currently in Leeds.

So...
Every day i am getting contacted about dogs in need of help aswell as tags asking me if i can help them - so I'm writing this post to answer it as a whole.

I would love nothing more to help all the dogs and cats that need it right now, but i can't unless they've had the basics done. (Spaying and neutering)
We were doing only emergencies until things were a bit more stable but after the 7 puppies and mother coming in unexpectedly, we are back in the deep end as they are going to cost a considerable amount in the upcoming months.
We have the fosters and everything else to sort other animals that come in but we do not have the funds to put it bluntly, we are drowning financially after so many.
The donations of food etc have been an absolute massive help and has allowed us to breathe for the last few weeks so thankyou.

At the start of the year with Bella, Fifi, Patches, Wilbur, Cooper and other dogs and then the end of the year with Kali and the dying kittens... we don't have any funds left and I've exhausted my own savings again.
Just the first few months of this year our bills reached over 10k.
For a small independent rescue with barely any funding this is understandably a massive blow but my heart sometimes rules my head and i figure the rest out later which I've successfully done but it isn't viable to do so right now or sensible.
We then had around 60 kittens come in within a few months one after another which caused further monetary problems.
It didn't help that some fees i still haven't received.
I wouldn't change any of it as most would be no longer alive and no other rescue could take them, but we are now struggling because of it.

To put it simply, right now, we cannot run as normal as we cannot afford to do so and must put the animals under our care currently first.
I have a lot of spays, neutering and other things for the next few weeks.
We need to fix enclosures, sort our heating etc out and treat others under our care.
We also have a lot of animals needing new humans that need to find them.
For the next few months i will be concentrating on trying to build up funds so we can save more next year and operate as normal.
Until we have funds, we cannot take anymore dogs or cats in that haven't had the basics done.
We cannot take anymore rabbits either.
I'm really sorry, but we must operate ethically and responsibly and for the sake of this rescues future we need to think logically.
I hope you all understand - we cannot spend what we do not have.

We CAN take wildlife and animals that will not require large veterinary bill treatment but we need to be careful at the moment for our future.
We ARE still taking animals, just not ones with massive bills attached as we cannot afford to do so.
Please still message me with emergencies, i may be able to forward you to someone who can help if i cannot.

Dotty is a 2.5kg ball of loveable fluff.
She is a pomeranian and has the typical pommy attitude, nervous at first and slightly yappy!
She is approximately a year old.
She is an incredibly loving little lap dog who wants nothing more than a doting owner that can be with her a lot of the time.
She is so small she is the size of my foot and can be held up with one hand!
She is the sweetest of girls.
She does have one eye that is a birth defect from an irresponsible breeder.
This will need no intervention.

Dotty is spay, fully vaccinated, microchipped and fully vet checked with no hidden nasties.
Her new human will need to be the correct fit for her.
Her new human will have no young children, no boisterous large dogs and any resident dogs must be spay/neutered already.
Her new humans will also be able to give her enough attention and not work long hours.
You must have a secure garden for her.
She is fine with cats but may chase.
She is very social with all dogs but nervous at the start.
She has no behavioural issues.
Dotty has been under us a while now.
She will have a fee attached and this will cover some of the costs we've incurred.
You must be within an hour and a half from Frome and we will offer full rescue back up for life, no matter how many years down the line it is.

Bird flu has just hit Cornwall which means it is very much a risk to this area too with how fast it is spreading.
Just a week ago the first case was up North, it hasn't taken long to get this far.
Scarily quick this time.
Due to this, i will now not be taking wild birds except birds of prey or pigeons.
I cannot attend call outs to waterfowl, no matter how painful it is for me to say no.
This is to protect the birds we have here already, i cannot risk the lives of the ones i know and I've worked so hard to save.
I hope you understand. ❤️

The nan we all know and love here is unfortunately not very well at the moment.
Please no visitors or door knocks at the moment as she is in bed, i don't want her to get up to answer the door.

This is one of the beautiful kittens we had in that found the most fantastic new family who spoil him very much!
It's hard to believe this little chap was a farm feral, right?
He wanted to eat us at the start, we worked so hard on him and now look at him! 😆
He's made the most beautiful companion!

He's gone from an outside cat with little to no life only survival to a VERY loved inside companion who will never have to struggle again.
This is why we do what we do ❤️

I'm sorry for being so quiet, life has never been so manic that i can't keep up! 😆
A little burnt out again so i appreciate messages may be well behind at the moment.

First our car broke.
Then we had a gas leak - no heating, stove or water.
Then our next car broke.
And now... our oven has packed in!
All in the space of a few weeks.
My phone has broke so I'm not able to take as many photos at the moment.
I thought it happened in threes?!!

On the plus side we booked in 7 more animals to be neutered and one that we were really worried about has been given the all clear from potential FIP.
I am very happy with this as that could have cost her life!
Today was cleaning day so nearly everyone is all clean and cosy.
All animals are happy with full bellies and warm. ❤️

Well, that's Angel gone to her foster family.
I'm absolutely sobbing!
I am a little bit more attached to her than i realised.
What a sweet girl, an incredibly sweet girl who has so much love.

This morning it was certainly a chore to get her out of the house of which it took me almost half hour!
She spent all night and all morning in bed with us and this morning really didn't want to get up!
She was literally snoring and her feet were moving like she was running.
Initially, we realised we had made a big mistake putting her in bed with both of us as she had all the duvet and we couldn't move last night 🤣
It has been an absolute pleasure to get her this far.
Who would have thought that dying puppy in a field that we bought would be with us in our own bed now?

Angels foot! 😱

Our Story

Hello and welcome to Cornpop Critter Rescue. We are a completely non profit rescue that is run by myself and my Grandmother on a large bit of land. Animals have always been our passion and their welfare is one of our biggest concerns. We absolutely adore them no matter what they are and try to help as many as we can...big or small! We help a variety of animals including all forms of wild animals and most species of domesticated animals, we are very knowledgeable with most species. I personally have rescued and rehabilitated both domesticated and wild animals for the past ten years with much success. With wild animals we aim to release but if this is not possible, we will keep them here permanently at the rescue providing it is ethical and fair to the animal in question. We are currently not open to the public due to Covid 19 unless otherwise stated. Should you need advice about an animal whether that be to do with housing or care, please feel free to pop us a message and we will try our very best to advise. Should we not know the answer, we can direct you to someone who does! Should you need us to help with an animal, please pop us a message with all information on said animal(s). If it is urgent, please contact us directly on the number provided on the page. We are completely non judgmental no matter the situation and everything remains confidential. Please note that all animals up for rehoming have a homing fee to cover all aspects of care including veterinary fees. We will also need to see where the animal will be living and what accomodation he/she will be living in. All animals are quarantined for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to rehoming as a standard procedure to prevent the spread of illness and disease. Thankyou for reading and king regards, Lauren.
