Wowee!
I'm not sure what's happened today, but the wildlife calls have been NON STOP!
Swans, squirrels, black bird chick's, corvids, pigeons, hedgehogs and mice!!
It's certainly getting busy!!! 😱

My favourite part of the year has finally arrived... 'my cat brought this in can you take it'.
Please, for the sake of our eco systems if you want our native wildlife to stay around... keep your cats in during breeding season atleast.
Bells do not work.
Those little bird songs we all know and love during dusk and dawn will eventually go off we carry on how we are.

This dear little nestling is only around 2 weeks off of fledgling but because of a cat, he's now likely going to lose his life.
The cat has bitten straight through the skin exposing the tendons of the leg and punctured his abdomen.
They said to us 'we would have put it back in the nest, but the cat will go back in and get it again'...
But, if cats were kept inside this wouldn't be an issue.
Shock isn't just the main issue with small animals being caught by cats.
Cats have a lot of nasty bacteria under their nails and in their mouths which can shut down such a small life within 72 hours.

So close buddy... I'm sorry.
For each one caught, this is a breeding bird that is taken from next years clutches so it has a massive knock on effect to our native wildlife.
We'll try our best to help him anyway.

Now guessed correctly in the comments! 🥰❤️

My, what big feet you have...

We currently have the pleasure of rearing something we don't often get in and we're all very excited to rear!
Here is the first glimpse...
Can you guess what he is?

Clue -
This foot belongs to a week old baby in this pic!

This one gives me quite the laugh to say the least.
She has feathers growing out of her ears and looks absolutely ridiculous!
I LOVE it!!
What should we call her??

It's been another fantastic day at the rescue.
A thankyou to the volunteers who repaired and started making new enclosures today ready for the summer!
It's certainly been productive.
Also a massive thankyou to Roy Steggles who has been a diamond once again chipping the next lot of cats and dogs ready to go out to new humans!
I had the privilege of having this man, who once ran Sperringcourt rescue, teach me the ropes and assist me with owls we've had brought in in the past.
I feel so honoured to have learnt from one of the best there is!

We're still going!
At the moment this little chap keeps grooming me after a feed thinking his mumma is still there as he currently cannot see anything still.
It's going to be a long road and it'll be very difficult not to interact with these adorable beautiful babies.

When someone turns up and says 'the RSPCA has sent me, I'm not sure if I've come to the right place' it always peaks my curiosity!
I was then presented with a hat which contained 3 tiny little wild lives and here they are!
Absolutely adorable.

That's Guinness off on his adventure to the next rescue!
It has been an absolute pleasure to have been involved with this magnificent bird that not many would usually come into contact with.
What an incredible species!

I'm so happy i just need to tell you all about this!!
It's only a small milestone but it is one none the less!

Rosie has grown all her fur back now and she's actually put on a tiny bit of weight!!!
I'm so happy about this.
I really hope the mass she has stays how it is size wise and doesn't cause any complications.
If she carries on putting on weight and improving, we may just be able to get the mass sorted too and her outlook will look hell of a lot more bright!
I absolutely love this girl and like every animal that comes here, we will try everything possible for her ❤️

Our Story

Hello and welcome to Cornpop Critter Rescue. We are a completely non profit rescue that is run by myself and my Grandmother on a large bit of land. Animals have always been our passion and their welfare is one of our biggest concerns. We absolutely adore them no matter what they are and try to help as many as we can...big or small! We help a variety of animals including all forms of wild animals and most species of domesticated animals, we are very knowledgeable with most species. I personally have rescued and rehabilitated both domesticated and wild animals for the past ten years with much success. With wild animals we aim to release but if this is not possible, we will keep them here permanently at the rescue providing it is ethical and fair to the animal in question. We are currently not open to the public due to Covid 19 unless otherwise stated. Should you need advice about an animal whether that be to do with housing or care, please feel free to pop us a message and we will try our very best to advise. Should we not know the answer, we can direct you to someone who does! Should you need us to help with an animal, please pop us a message with all information on said animal(s). If it is urgent, please contact us directly on the number provided on the page. We are completely non judgmental no matter the situation and everything remains confidential. Please note that all animals up for rehoming have a homing fee to cover all aspects of care including veterinary fees. We will also need to see where the animal will be living and what accomodation he/she will be living in. All animals are quarantined for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to rehoming as a standard procedure to prevent the spread of illness and disease. Thankyou for reading and king regards, Lauren.
