Where has all that time gone! 🎈
Caballus Equine has been in business for six years today🐎
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Clients for their support & custom over the last years, especially the ones that have been with us from point go! Had faith in our little business idea😁.
Caballus has flourished & we would like to think we have maintained our ethos of looking after our clients & horse(s) to a standard that we would want for our own animals.
Encompassing care, compassion & just trying to be there with advice when needed, offering reassurance in a way you don’t always get in the corporate/ Non independent veterinary practices.
It’s been hard work and a labour of love, but we are so happy to of shared this journey with you all.
Enjoy the bank holiday weekend 🐎 & Thanks again!
Tim & Lisa xx

We haven’t posted for a while as have been so busy but here is an interesting case from the other week. The pony in question had a large, non-painful swelling at the point of the elbow called a hygroma. This often arises due to trauma of the area and formation of a subcutaneous bursa, which is unsightly in a pony intended for in-hand showing. We often don’t treat these but this one was growing despite previous drainage so we surgically removed it.

Canine tooth extraction from the other day. Canines (tushes) have long curved roots, making extraction difficult. In this case, the root is bulbous and the crown is decayed, with an open pulp, due to Equine Odontoclastic Tooth Resorption and Hypercementosis (EOTRH).

Before coming to collect medications please contact us to ensure that they are ready for you unless we have specifically let you know that they are ready for collection.
With deliveries becoming more unreliable and drug shortages occurring regularly sometimes we will be unable to dispense as quickly as we would like. Please also provide as much notice as possible to ensure your medications will be available in time. Many thanks 😊

Equine Veterinary Care on the Isle of Wight and Dentistry on the South Coast
I am a horse owner with a passion for everything equine and currently have two horses, two dogs and four cats! I qualified as a veterinary surgeon from the Royal Veterinary College, London and previously worked in general equine practice with a large dental caseload. During this time my interest in dentistry grew and I have completed a number of continuing professional development courses, including at the University of Liverpool in 2016, a BEVA dental extraction and sinus surgery course at Rossdales in August 2017 and, most recently, attended the inaugural Equine Veterinary Dental Association (EVDA) Congress in Newmarket in April.
My other interests include lameness, laminitis and hoof disorders. I am able to offer a comprehensive and client-focused veterinary service on the Isle of Wight, from vaccinations and medical work-ups to standing surgery, in addition to both routine and advanced dental care. Dental services are also available throughout the south, including Hampshire, Dorset, Sussex and Surrey. I am assisted by my long-term girlfriend, Lisa, who takes bookings and provides general help on the road.
Being a qualified vet enables me to administer sedation, pain relief and antimicrobials as necessary and to perform extractions and diastema widening and bridging work as required. I am happy to work without sedation where temperament and lack of pathology allow and always begin by obtaining a full history of any problems, performing a thorough external head and incisor examination prior to placing the speculum and checking cheek teeth with a mirror before I proceed with necessary work.
Member of BEVA, EVDA and Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS)
