Some dogs are just very good at looking after puppies 😍 Kai has been socialising with two pups today - Luna here and Theo the poodle!
It's really important that puppies learn appropriate manners around other dogs and mixing them with nice adult dogs is a great way of doing this!

Only remembered to take two pics today of our new scentsports intake - well done to all the new dogs and owners- Angel, Stevie, Brownie and Finn!

After 4 training sessions today - I only remembered to take photos of this one- little Luna making her first doggy friend - Willow at work again!
We also had Theo the poodle pup learning to cope with the world without shouting, and Mack and Teddy - both just working on general manners. A big thanks to Sally and Yan for stooging for Mack in our session

Just a video of our afternoon very muddy adventure. Lots of recall practise for Tiggy - and I was very proud of her for coming back when she spotted a lady innocently walking her own dog. Cumbria Canine Services is open!

Welcome to Cumbria Canine Services! Time for an update :) In November 2017 I decided to set up a business that would provide premium and bespoke services to pet owners.

In the last two years we have grown to a business with six other part time members of staff, and a list of voluntary helpers. The thing that we all have in common is a love of dogs and animals in general - however our staff are well trained with experience in behaviour issues, obedience, agility and with rescue dogs. All of our staff are DBS checked and have an up to date canine first aid qualification - they also get to take part in the seminars that we host with outside speakers.

We pride ourselves on catering our walks and provision to the dog in question - there is no “one size fits all” approach here.

We offer the following:

Pet sitting in your home, peace of mind when you go away, and your pets enjoying their own home comforts and routine.

Home boarding - where your dog can come to my house, join in with the rat pack (Sox, Eddie and Buffy), and come on as many dog walks as they can manage. We now have a second member of staff, Jill who is also fully licensed as a homeboarder who also offers homeboarding services with her own dogs, Buddy and Rudy for company. We hold a four star license with Copeland Borough Council, and upon our next inspection will be aiming for five stars.

Dog walking with very experienced handlers, all used to working in a with a variety of different dogs of different sizes and temperaments. We offer 30 mins, and 1hr group walks, 45 mins single walks and 2hr 30 mins Adventure Walks. Our group walks are only small groups, and we carefully match the dogs to their canine friends.

One to one training -I’ve seen and handled perhaps three hundred dogs in the last three years alone, and I’m confident that I can help with most issues that present - please do get in touch to find out what we can do to help.

Puppy Classes - get it right from the beginning and start a kind, consistent relationship with your new pup.

Intermediate Classes - once you have attended puppy class you may find you and your dog hooked on training - we continue the fun and training after puppy course.

Online training - born in lockdown, we now offer a variety of online courses, from basic puppy and adult dog courses, to trick courses

Seminars and Workshops - throughout the year we host different speakers and trainers. In 2018, we had a Canine First Aid workshop with Rachel Bean, and an Introduction to Tellington T-Touch with Janet Finlay. In 2019, we hosted Canine First Aid with Rachel bean, and ‘Your End of the Lead’ with Janet Finlay.

It’s been an incredible 2 and a half years, and I am so excited to see where we go next. Looking forward to getting back to work as lockdown finishes.
