The journey and sagas of Ragnar (ftch Rytex Roko x Ftch Shiveck Beretta of Deepfleet)
✅Little Ragnar hasn’t had to much formal training so far.
✅So at just over 4months I have started to teach sit means sit and done move until another command or a release is given.
✅This is important as it’s the start of the stop whistle later on. It gives me freedom to sit and walk and place a dummy.
✅So many things can come from a basic steady sit.
✅Also incorporating a mini recall as well.
✅Then a release noise/word
✅All in a few minutes training.
Today we were out having a few cold game retrieves with the adults. We decided to see how Ragnar did.
He was curious and took some encouragement but he was soon retrieving a partridge.
We let him have a few and ended it as it is still early on in his retrieve training. I don’t want to install bad habits on game.
Please that he wasn’t silly with it and he brought it back though.
Little Ragnar back to his training today after a week off whilst we were at the Gamefair doing a demo with his Cousin Stiora.
Love this little dog, he is going to have his challenges but with consistency we can over come them and hopefully mold him into an amazing dog 🐶

✅Chilling and taking in the environment whilst being calm is a good thing.

✅Puppy training….your always training your puppy or dog every second your with it.
✅Today Ragnar had 5mins exercise before we started our lessons Southdowns Dog Services
✅Ragnar had fun having:
- A couple of ball retrieves
- A bit of hunting
-This ways and following me
-Chilling and doing nothing outside
✅Spending time with your puppy is crucial to building a bond.
✅Make sure the fun comes from you and not endless toys at home, use toys wisely to help build a bond and training. They are a good training resource that you should control to aid your training. (This example Ragnar has a hard chew at home and no toys unless it’s a ball or mini dummy when I am interacting with him, this makes me fun and not everything else)
✅Ragnar spent another 5 mins just chilling next to me relaxing and learning to chill in my company.
✅Don’t over exercise your puppies.
✅Make sure your where the fun comes from.
✅Let them be a puppy and sleep and have fun but don’t neglect training! You’re always training your dog so don’t allow the unwanted behaviours now but encourage the behaviours you want.

🐶Ragnar was unsure of the hoover and had a nervous wee. I ignored him and continued to hoover around him. I did not reassure him or even talk to him as this would reward any unsure behaviours.
🐶He does not need to scared of the hoover, my pack ignored him when he was unsure so I did too and next time I’m sure he will be fine with a hoover as he will learn it won’t hurt him
🐶We have to be careful as owners that we are not encouraging fear! The same goes for loud noises and thunder. I clap and bang allot and ignore any fearful reactions. As time goes on the dog ignores them!
