We had a great time at the BSVP meeting last weekend - From Androgens to Trophoblasts: Current Perspectives in Reproductive and Mammary Gland Pathology, and we wanted to share a couple of VPG highlights.

🔵 Annika Herrmann, DECVP was part of the organising team in her role as one of the BSVP educational co-ordinators, working closely with the local organisers and her fellow co-ordinator to help bring the two day event together.

🔵 Elizabeth Alloway presented the sustainability project that earned VPG the runner up position in this year’s BSVP Green Lab Competition.

🔵 There was also a well deserved mention for Erika Abbondati for her work in driving regional pathology meetings in Scotland.

🔵 We were pleased to support the event by sponsoring the delegate badges and to be part of a weekend focused on shared learning, collaboration and the future of veterinary pathology.

If you were there, we hope you enjoyed the program as much as we did!

Join VPG at the London Vet Show 2025

We’re heading to EXCEL London on 20 and 21 November for one of our biggest shows yet. Visit us at Stand P45 to meet the team, discover what’s new and get involved in the on-stand activities.

This year is particularly exciting as VPG begins a new chapter following our new partnership with Zoetis. We remain focused on delivering the same high standard of veterinary diagnostics our clients know and trust, now supported by the wider strengths of a global leader in animal health.

You’ll be able to meet our new Pathology Leadership Team, including Jenny McKay and Melanie Dobromylskyj, who will be on hand to talk about our continued commitment to quality, service and innovation.

We’re also pleased to share that Oliver Coldrick, Board Certified Clinical Pathologist, will be speaking in Exhibitor Showcase Theatre 2 on Thursday 20 November at 11:00. His session, Making Cytology Work: From Lesion to Diagnosis, is set to be one of the highlights of the program.

From 13:00 to 15:00 on Thursday, the team from MI:RNA Diagnostics will be joining us on the stand to talk about microRNAs and how this technology is shaping the next generation of diagnostics.

Plus, don’t miss our on-stand games and a chance to take home some great prizes.

We look forward to seeing you at for two days of learning, insight and conversation.

🐈🩶Could tiny molecules change the way we diagnose feline heart disease?

Feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is one of the most common and complex conditions seen in cats. Often silent until it’s too late, early detection has long been one of the biggest challenges in feline medicine.

New research is uncovering how microRNAs, small molecules that regulate gene expression could hold the key to detecting HCM before structural changes even begin.

The team at MI:RNA Diagnostics are combining molecular science with AI to identify unique miRNA patterns in cats with HCM, paving the way for a simple blood test that could transform how we diagnose and monitor feline heart disease.

New Case Study: Mycobacterial Lymphadenitis in a Cat 🐱

A 12-year-old domestic short hair cat presented with submandibular lymph node enlargement. Histological examination revealed granulomatous lymphadenitis with necrosis, and PCR analysis confirmed a Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) infection.

This case explores the presentation, diagnostic approach and zoonotic considerations associated with mycobacterial infections in cats.

Read the full case study to learn more about diagnostic options including Ziehl-Neelsen staining, PCR analysis and culture, and guidance for sample handling and zoonotic risk management.
