Back for another visit to handsome little Eddie this week who continues to amaze me with how well he’s doing. At my last visit I showed Eddie’s owner how to teach him a “settle”. By using a towel or small blanket you can then begin to move that item around the house and eventually also use it when visiting a friends house or a pub for example. Once we have taught Eddie what “settle” means and where he needs to go we then work on duration (How long Eddie has to stay in position before his reward is delivered) and then some distance (How far away we can be from Eddie before returning with the reward). At the very end we add in some low level distractions (so can he stay in position with things happening around him). As you can see from this video he’s done remarkable and when he sees his settle blanket appear he’s straight on it ❤️🐶
If we cannot walk it’s indoor visits and this time it was with Bertie and his favourite ball, so we worked on some “Drop” training ❤️🐶
When it’s too hot to walk Bertie and I did some training instead ❤️😂🐶
This week saw me visit amazing Dave and his really lovely owners for their last session with me. For this session we went out and about working on Dave’s engagement with other dogs and people which he did so well with. In previous weeks we worked on Dave’s loose lead walking which as you can see he’s also doing extremely well at too.
Full credit to Dave’s owners who are fully invested in his training and I wish them all the very best going forward ❤️🐶
Final session this week with amazing Bertie and his lovely owner where we continued to work on some door protocols. We started in previous sessions with internal doors that were less exciting to Bertie so he could get the hang of what was being asked of him with the aim of then “Proofing” this behaviour at the main front door. Here as you will see Bertie absolutely smashed it and I’m so proud of both him and his human mum ❤️🐶
Lovely fun swim for my beautiful Rosie this evening and thanks as always to Laura at Canis Aquatic for looking after her 🐶❤️
Another session this week with beautiful pup Sandy and her lovely owner where we continue to work on Sandy’s loose lead walking which gets better and better. The behaviour needs to firstly be taught in a low distraction environment and then slowly “proofed” in higher distraction environments when Sandy is ready. I’m so so pleased with how both pup and owner are doing together ❤️🐶
It was great to be back visiting one of my lovely clients and his amazing working Cocker Spaniel Cyril. While at the session I just wanted to revisit loose lead walking and check how this was going. When I first met Cyril he would be pulling his owner out of the house then down the driveway and down the street so to see him now doing this was so great to see. I was told how much time they have spent on this and it certainly shows ❤️🐶
Fun in the sun with Toby this week 🐶❤️
Lovely to be back visiting handsome Bertie last week who is now 9 months old. Quite often I talk to clients about impulse control and door protocols where we teach their dog to remain in position while we open a door instead of them trying to rush through it as soon as we put our hand on the door handle. As you can see from this video little Bertie soon got the hang of this. It’s then on to “proofing” this behaviour at other doors around the house such as the front and back doors where he would normally leave for his walk. Well done Bertie, what a little star 🌟 🐶❤️
Super super proud of young Brock this afternoon with his amazing impulse control, I only asked him once to “Sit” and then “wait” and this was the outcome ❤️🐶
A massive Happy Birthday to my mate Toby who is 4 Today .. lovely to spend some time with him this morning on his special day ❤️🐶

What a little star young Raya was at our training session this week.
Teaching a “place” for a dog to go and settle is such an important thing so they remain there when you go to do things like answer a door or when guests arrive.
Teaching this involves teaching your dog value in going to the “place” which can be anything ranging from their bed, to a mat or even a towel which we used here.
You also have to teach the dog to remain in “place” for a period of time and then add in some distance away from them.
Raya would normally run to the front door when it’s knocked so we simulated this as part of the learning process and as you can see here she absolutely nailed it, well done Raya 👍🌟🐶❤️
Lovely to be back with handsome pup Miggy and his owner for another session recently where we worked on teaching Miggy a place to settle, in this case his bed. As you will see he did so well, still lots of work to do on this but what a start ❤️🐶
I’ve recently been working with a lovely couple and their young spaniel Milo.
Milo has a tendency to pull his owners down the street and across the road and certainly when he wants to get across to a patch of grass for a wee and a good sniff.
We started to work on some loose lead training by breaking the journey he normally takes in to manageable chunks so we can really set Milo up for success.
As you can see in this video Milo walked across from one curb to another without the usual pull on the lead all whilst distractions are happening, as you may also hear his human dad couldn’t believe there was “No pull” on the lead 👍
A massive well done to his owners and a huge well done to Milo ❤️🐶
Final session recently with young collie pup Buddy and his lovely family where we spent some time working on a “place” for him to go and settle and relax. We made do with the cats bed in this instance 😂for him to use as his settle space which the owner wanted to use the “cue” of “BED” when he wants to get Buddy to go to it, once Buddy started to understand what the cue word meant we then started to work on increasing some time he needs to remain on the bed and the also some distance we can move away from him while he again remains on the bed. Still work to do but as you can see he did so well in just a one hour session ❤️🐶
Great to have another session with the adorable Mabel and her owner this week who wanted to work on Mabel’s loose lead walking to stop her from pulling. We’ve built in putting value for being by her owners side and also some directional changes which has started to pay off 👏🐶❤️
To me being a dog trainer means ongoing learning and trying to be the best you can when it comes to knowledge to pass on to your clients, so I recently took time out to complete another advanced “Specialist” course with the amazing Dog Trainer College and I’m pleased to say I passed 🐶
Back for another training session with the amazing working Cocker Spaniel Cyril and his lovely owner. We continue to work on Cyril’s loose lead walking which is getting better and better ❤️🐶
Another recent loose lead training session with a lovely client and his amazing 2 year old spaniel Cyril. It’s lovely to see how well they are doing and as you will see from the video there are plenty of “check ins” from Cyril to his owner and a really lovely loose lead, this added with a “this way” keeps everything smooth and ensures Cyril knows whats expected of him, just so so lovely to see them working in harmony with each other 👍❤️🐶
