These Simple Tips Could Help You & Your Hound 🐶

1️⃣ Make Sure Your Pup Knows Their Name 🐶
This Lets Them Know That You Want Their Attention

2️⃣ Pick Your Recall Word 🎵
It Should Be Short & Sharp, For Example A Verbal Cue Like ‘Come’, Or A Whistle

3️⃣ Start Small 🐾
Start In Your garden Or Another Enclosed Space

4️⃣ Take Your Time ⏱
Gradually Increase The Distance Between You & Your Dog As Well As The Level Of Distractions You Call Them Away From

5️⃣ Take It Out Side 🌍
Start On A Long Lead Using The Same Methods You Did In The Garden

6️⃣ Release The Hound 🐾
When Your Dog Comes Back Every Time On The Long Line You Can Remove The Lead

❄️ With the super cold weather we have been having here’s our top tips for keeping your pooches safe during the winter ❄️

Another busy winters day full of dogs and horses 🐶❤️ We still have some regular weekly slots for new clients to join our pack

Rare day off for me today… so of course I’m spending my day surrounded by animals 🤣💕 A chilled day with Lenny, Vinnie, Foster pup & Drew 🐴 🐶

Some rainy day enrichment for Chester as well 🐾 Hiding treats in a blanket is such a quick and easy was to tire your dog out mentally

Jumping into the weekend like ✈️

Two happy dogs 🐾💕 So lucky to call this work This is our nervous people and dog reactive foster pup, running around (muzzled) and off lead with my own dog Vinnie 🐕 How amazing is this progress ? No growls, just two happy dogs playing chase! Foster pup has only been here since Thursday evening last week! I always say train for the dog you want and this shows why I’ve spent so much time training Vinnie with his recall and neutral behaviour around other dogs! He did not approach foster pup until she initiated interaction and that’s what she needs! Both smashing it! Other dogs are still a work in progress and we are working on this 🐾

Sunday motivation: “You can’t change the past and don’t worry about tomorrow. Today is a day that can change your future.” With that in mind we are spending our weekend getting our muzzle training reps in ❤️ Remember a muzzled dog isn’t a bad dog 🐶

Sorry for being a little quiet the last few days but we had been busy preparing for a new short term foster dog to arrive today 🐾 This little girl will be with us for a little while to be assessed for what kind of home she may like & to learn a bit about the world 🌍 before she finds her forever home She has joined us on Vinnie’s birthday so celebrated with a pup friendly party ring 🥳

Busy day yesterday at All about dogs 🐶 Vinnie had the best time trying out several K9 sports. Back to admin work today and business as usual tomorrow 🐾

It’s been a leash / heel training kind of day today 🐾

Another month another Honest Hounds neutral walk 🐾 Soggy one this month, but such happy owners and well behaved pooches! Fabulous to see the progress in our regular pups & to meet some new faces 🐶 ❤️ If you’re looking for a none judgemental community, where all training tools are welcome (as long as they are used correctly) message us about how to get involved

Would your dog have stayed in a sit stay if a random off - lead dog bolted past? This does not just happen over night, it comes from proofing your sit stay command! If you’d like to know more about how we do this please send us a message 🐾🐶

So I’ve been getting asked by plenty of people about the current case of EHV. It’s easier to just make one post answering. I normally work at Pakefield on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. However I am not currently working there until the blood tests have returned negative. So hopefully I will be back to teaching and taking hacks out there soon! Whilst I was working over the past week (since one of our ponies - the only one who has shown signs and became unwell) I have been changing my clothes and boots between each yard! And all the clothes and boots have been cleaned. I know the same can be said for all staff there and that the team have been and continue to be cautious and work their hardest to keep all the work and our own and client horses safe. I know it has been making the rounds on Facebook but, there is only this one case so far and I don’t want my clients panicking or jumping to conclusions about the case. 💕

💫Neutral pack walk💫 I hold monthly neutral pack walks for Honest Hounds members on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. Our next walk will be on Monday 20th February 🐾 These walks are open to all ( You must be a member of honest hounds to join in - from as little as £2 a month for pup membership ) - So if your dog is reactive or over excited on the lead please do not be put off … we will not judge and will be here to help! All training tools are welcome in a judgement free environment! The walks will all take place in areas where we can move out of the way of other dogs and have space from other dogs in the group. All dogs will be on leads. If you’d like to know more please do message me 🐕

✨ Some basic impulse control with both Vinnie & Drew today ✨ Can your dog stay in a down or sit ‘wait’ whilst you throw or kick their toy and wait for a release command? Vinnie is younger than Drew and still learning (he finds footballs super exciting ) this is why his release command is quicker - with time this will be extended like Drew’s 🐾

Welcome to Furpetsake, I should probably introduce myself! I am Brooke, a 23 year old who graduated from Writtle University College with a Bsc (hons) in Equine Behavioural Science. I have always been animal mad, as you can probably tell from my wide range of pets from domestic to exotic. I have many years of experience looking after and exercising a range of animals for local people in the village as well as friends and family.
