It's Focus Friday, and on Fridays we like to show our appreciation and say thank you. This week, we are so grateful to Sue, Maple, Dexter & Finlay of Warfield, Berkshire, for their five star review on their MIL Pet Photography Experience.

"Having seen Chris and Sue's website, I was totally blown away & to say I was excited to book a photoshoot for my dogs is an understatement !

2 weeks later I & 3 Labradors set off to ButterSteep Forest in Ascot for a morning of a doggie photoshoot fun & games. They all loved & took to Chris instantly, especially with the wonderful array of toys & squeakers he had brought with him. 2 hours of running, jumping, fetching, swimming & general Labrador fun later we walked back to our cars.

I then had the extremely difficult task of choosing images as they were also so utterly brilliant. Sizes, Frames, Albums, Orbs …where to start ? so much to choose from… Decisions were finally made & I now have the most stunning HD Orb photos of the dogs on a feature wall in my dining room, loved & amazed by everyone that sees them. Also, a selection of all my absolutes favorite photos mounted.

Thank you, Chris and Sue ( MIL Pet Photography ) for the opportunity, which was one of the best decisions I have ever made in respect of my furbies."

Every Monday, I share an image from a MIL Pet Photography Experience.

Here's Harvey, a seven year old Labrador who was having so much fun in the forest in Ascot, Berkshire. He casually stepped through this muddy puddle and then decided to lap up some of it, even though his owner had fresh water for him. Nice one Harvey!

Find out a little more about the person behind the camera: this week, things you once thought were important no longer matter…

Each Sunday, I put up a personal post. Today, it's about as you grow older, your priorities change and things that may have been important to you previously no longer have the same importance.

Back in the late 90s and early 2000s, I spent a lot of time enjoying motorsport. I was very lucky to work for a company that was a sponsor of the McLaren F1 team and I got to spend time with many members of the team. I also enjoyed regular visits to Brands Hatch and Thruxton to watch the British Touring Car Championship. This photo was Anthony Reid racing in the British Touring Car Championship in 2002 in the West Surrey Racing MG ZS V6. I captured it at the final chicane at Thruxton, and an example of "panning" photography capability back then.

Just over 20 years on, I no longer have any spark for motorsport. There was no specific event or moment when it stopped. We all have the same amount of time in a day or a week or a month, and for me, I don't want to spend any of that time on motorsport. As you grow older, your priorities change.

If you are in your late 30s or early 40s, believe me - there may be something that right now you spend a lot of time on doing that you won’t care much about and it will not matter to you later in life.

For me, it's simply that you spend more time focusing on what really matters to you. Things that may have been important previously no longer have the same importance. I believe that what really matters is your well-being, relationships with loved ones, personal values, and finding fulfilment in your life.

🐕🐾 Has this been useful to find out a little bit more about the person behind the camera? I'd welcome your comments and feedback. 🐾🐕

"I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with MIL Pet Photography!

Chris took some incredible photos of our dog Hunter.

His attention to detail in the run-up to the shoot meant that he knew exactly the type of photographs to take on the day of the shoot based on our preferences.

We're absolutely thrilled with the precious photographs and can't wait to show them off to all our family."

Find out a little more about the person behind the camera: this week, history and remembering the past…

Each Sunday, I put up a personal post. Today, it's about history, remembering the past and potentially improving our knowledge too.

At school, I only had a slight interest in history. Whilst my hobbies included photography and music, my academic focus was mathematics and sciences - and leading to Computer Studies, Computer Science and then a career in the IT and Tech Industry.

Like most people, I remembered key dates, and the major events in history. However, as I have got older and particularly when travelling, I have developed a keen interest for history. Whether it was visiting Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam, or the StB "lookout" inside the spire of a church to spy on the US embassy in Prague, I find the history of things like this extremely informative. It makes me think how these things happened, what we may have learned since, and provides a perspective and an experience I didn't have before.

Visiting Ypres in Belgium and these war graves from the first World War was such a moving moment. In some cases, there was enough identification to name and age the person, in others their nationality and maybe their company, and also of course, for many, a soldier of the great war known unto God. On that trip, I also saw some of the conditions that those soldiers lived and fought in - and can only start to imagine how awful it must have been for them.

I read more historical event information nowadays, and always try to better understand what has happened in our past. I can't change history - but understanding it a little more helps me have additional perspectives.

🐕🐾 Has this been useful to find out a little bit more about the person behind the camera? I'd welcome your comments and feedback. 🐾🐕

It's Focus Friday, and on Fridays we like to show our appreciation and say thank you. This week, we are so grateful to Minnie, Lady & her nine puppies of Buckinghamshire, for their five star review on their MIL Pet Photography Experience.

"From the first time I received a phone call from Chris to the moment we sat down to take delivery of the images of my babies… it had been a delight to work with Chris and Sue.

I had a very unique and quite difficult task for them because I wanted photographs of 4 week old puppies - and there were 9 of them ! But it didn’t seem to be too complicated for Chris and Sue, they had an amazing connection with the little doggies from the onset and were able to go above and beyond my expectations.

Chris was also able to capture some lovely shots of mummy dog which I will cherish forever. Because her story is what led us on the journey to having her lovely babies.
I am still in awe of the quality of the pictures (which I gave to each family in their puppy pack). The comments from them were amazing. And everyone can’t wait to meet up in a year for their birthdays and have photos done again.

I honestly could not thank Chris and Sue enough. I feel like they are now part of our family and look toward to getting them back to take photos of our very large fur baby family."

Find out a little more about the person behind the camera: this week, why I continue to invest in myself.

Each Sunday, I put up a personal post. Today, it's about investing in myself.

As many of you know, I like to learn, develop, improve and challenge myself. We all get many opportunities to consider attending events, training, conferences, and exhibitions. For me, I invest in myself in these situations where I believe I'll be more informed, educated and experienced after such an event.

In September 2023, the top dog photographers from all across the world got together in one place to join forces - realising a dream of completely unforgettable days of magic, inspiration and education. Shutterhound was a three Day Conference that took place at The Mirage Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, founded and hosted by the amazing Sam Haddix and Kaylee Greer of Dog Breath Photography

Our schedules were slam-packed with talks, presentations, and live demos from the very best dog photographers in the business. With 7 one hour long presentations per day, and tons of networking opportunities, this was the best conference I have attended ever.

Meeting so many world famous dog photographers was truly inspiring, and many of them set challenges that I have accepted. Kaylee made it very clear that we have a very special gift as professional dog photographers, and that we can give a voice to the voiceless through the work we do. Every dog deserves a forever home, and I am more than happy to be part of giving them quality photos to maximise their chance of adoption and rehoming.

I was truly moved by the work of other attendees as well as the amazing speakers. As a result, I will now run 1-2 personal projects each year, which result in the work being published in some way. I have 7 ideas already which will keep me busy in this space for the next few years - I will put out calls for dog models for each project as I launch them.

So, in summary, I believe in investing in myself. Whether it's having a golf lesson, attending a guitar retreat, or a photography conference event, these investments all help develop and improve me. When I invest in photography, it's my clients that benefit too.

It's Focus Friday, and on Fridays we like to show our appreciation and say thank you. This week, we are so grateful to China and Loui of Windsor, Berkshire, for their five star review on their MIL Pet Photography Experience.

"From the very first call, Chris was warming and helped me understand the entire process that we could look to expect from the shoot. Full of great information and ideas on how best to capture Loui and his family.

As the day approached, Chris was available to help ensure we were comfortable still knowing what to expect, whilst also encouraging any feedback or ideas from us should we want to include other things.

The day of the shoot could not have gone better, with both Chris and Sue working side by side with our family, helping to reduce any anxiety of it being a photo shoot, to just simply going for a nice walk with friends.

Chris captured so many amazing shots of Loui and us, whilst also considering proposals from our 11 yr old son, who absolutely loved being part of it all.
Seeing the final shots during the sideshow, we just had to have them all. We loved all the various pieces and styles available, but our son loved the photo album the most. The album now sits pride in place in his bedroom.

Chris and Sue offer a unique and personalised experience, and we would consider them for any future shoots, pets or otherwise, and recommend them to all. Thank you both for such a great day!"

Find out a little more about the person behind the camera: this week, Dr. Chris Miller…

Each Sunday, I put up a personal post. Today, it's about a very special day at Loughborough University receiving my honorary doctorate.

In 2015, I was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Technology from Loughborough University for my contribution towards IT education and the UK IT industry overall. It was an absolute honour and a day I will never forget - I accepted it with humility, gratitude and pride.

It was a very special moment, and I also had the honour to help inspire those graduating with me through my commencement graduation speech. I focused on just two key points:

1. Never give up
2. Always make a difference

In that five minute acceptance speech, I encouraged those graduating with me to always make a difference and never give up. If you have 5 minutes, you can click on the link in the comments and listen to it.

It's Focus Friday, and on Fridays we like to show our appreciation and say thank you. This week, we are so grateful to Simon, Zola and family of West Sussex for their five star review on their MIL Pet Photography Experience.

"In the summer of 2021 we brightened up a typically dull and overcast day, by inviting Chris and Sue Miller to come and capture some special moments with our 4 month old Ridgeback puppy, Zola. From the moment he stepped through the door and was welcomed by a very excitable and bouncy puppy Chris immediately put Zola at ease.

He was very interactive with the dog, within moments she was responding to him and his commands. Chris’s creativity brightened up the day, and he had so many great suggestions of where and how he could photograph Zola and the family.

He asked questions, listened carefully, took on board our ideas and suggestions so our photos would be personal, natural, memorable and not clichéd. Despite the slightly adverse conditions, within a couple of hours Chris and Sue had captured so many amazing shots of Zola, capturing her bouncy personality and character.

We were blown away by the quality of the images, and that was before Chris set to work on the editing journey to put his finishing touches on each image. Over the following weeks Chris helped us choose the very best shots by making the selection process so easy, we wanted to wall mount a selection of pictures as well as retain the digital images.

He also brought some examples of the frames and the different album styles available so we were able to see them ‘in the flesh’ discuss the best options and choose exactly what we wanted. The quality of the frames and the albums are exceptional – in the end we actually chose a very modern frameless option.

There is no question, Chris Miller is an outstanding dog photographer, having him taking pictures of our family was a wonderful experience, we had so much fun throughout the process and the results speak for themselves and give us pleasure every day. We would highly recommended MIL Pet photography and can guarantee an excellent experience you and your family will never forget."
