Patch Lane, Okenshae, cat possibly hanging out at someone elses home.

Hello people, my cat has started disappearing for a day or 2 at a time, he's usually home, fast asleep on my bed for hours and hours. He doesn't usually go far or for long so, it's out of character for him.

He's neutered, very well cared for and loved. If you see him or if he's chosen to move in with you, please send him on his way. He has a medical condition and as much as you might feel he needs help, he really doesn't. If you're feeding him and encouraging him to stay you are doing more harm than good.

I appreciate anyone helping any animal but, he is clearly well fed so shouldn't present as a stray. He lives in Patch Lane, Oakenshaw and he needs to be left to come home and stay home.

As I said, seeing him once every day or 2 is not good for his health so please, if you think you've seen him or he's moved in with you, if you think it's him, take him to vets 4 pets to be scanned, if it's not him, by all means continue to help a cat in need but my cat has all the love and attention here at home.

Thank you.

Dog lovers...

What do you think the minimum age should be when purchasing a dog, any dog, any breed including the bullies rotties etc..

Do you know the legal age?

The sale of puppies has increased by the million since 2019. Many heavily pregnant dogs are illegally brought to this country. They're ill treated, the puppies are sold without microchip, worm and flea treatment and at less than 8 weeks old all of which is illegal.

They often turn out to be something different breed wise.. they often become ill very soon after getting them home. They will be prone to ill health and unwanted behaviour due to the bad breeding and stressful situations they've been born into.

Please consider rescuing before shopping. Its the only way to stop this. The government won't step up so it's on us to protect ourselves and the animals we claim to love.

Getting a puppy is a serious business and sadly, many people are scammed.

Rescue, don't shop.

Begging at the table is a common complaint, yet many people consistently reinforce this unwanted behavior by feeding their dogs from the table. The good news is that this is almost always a completely human-initiated problem, and therefore you also have the power to regain control of the situation.

👩‍⚖️ Three people have been sent to prison following an investigation carried out by our team and local authorities for their involvement in an Essex puppy-selling ring. The gang made an estimated £850,000 from selling poorly pups. Here's the sad reality of puppy farming, and the dogs' stories: https://bit.ly/3DeDEo8

A reminder with the upcoming hot weather to protect those paw pads! 🐾🌡️ We have all experienced a burn at some point in our lives, but can you imagine how painful it would be on your feet? 😥

If in doubt - don't go out! If you can't safely exercise your dog, missing a day won't hurt. To help your pet, avoid walks during the hottest part of the day, which is usually between 8am - 5pm. If it's too hot for you to hold your hand or bare foot on the floor for 5 seconds - it's too hot for your dog! ⏱️

QUITTING SO MUCH SITTING
Why asking dogs to sit all the time is not such a good idea
We may have been taught and truly believe that teaching our dogs to sit at our every cue is instilling good manners, it looks impressive, it demonstrates good obedience, teaches self-control, is incompatible to jumping up, running around or being reactive or over excited. Dogs are taught from puppies to sit before getting fed, going out a door, before being greeted, crossing the road etc. and this quickly becomes a habitual behaviour, but sometimes what we have been taught or always believed is the right way is not always what’s best for our dogs.
“Sit” is often the very first thing puppies are taught, whether we begin this at home or when going to puppy school. Just one session at puppy school may include up to 20 or even more “sits”. That’s a high intensity workout for a dog at any age, but puppies in their growing stage are particularly at risk due to their developing skeletal system. These sitting repetitions put excessive pressure on their growing muscles and joints which may lead to damage or injury that may only become apparent when they’re older.
Senior dogs may find it really painful to sit down and then get back up. Sitting puts pressure on the lower back, hips and supporting muscles. Certain breeds are just not designed to repeatedly sit.
There is nothing wrong with occasionally asking our dogs to sit and in some situations, it’s needed, but look at teaching alternative behaviours that are just as effective and won’t risk causing possible discomfort or pain. Wait, 4 paws on the floor, look at me or focus on me, hand touches or lie down are all behaviours that can replace repetitive sitting.

Wish people would stop breeding.

🐱 Last year we took 20,188 cats into our care and dealt with over 53,388 cat welfare complaints. This kitten season could sadly be cat-astrophic as the nation also faces a cost of living increase, which could lead to more cats being abandoned than ever 😿

As a charity we're under immense pressure, especially over the summer. Neutering your cats this can help us to tackle this issue: bit.ly/3RlJ4mi

Police dog training starts early with the very best! These guys show how it can be done effectively and successfully without damaging compulsion methods. The dog loves doing his or her job. ❤️

Force and fear have no place here!

Did you know it's a crime if someone is bitten by your dog on your property, even at your letterbox? The dog vs. postman rivalry is a running joke amongst pet owners, but unfortunately for the people working in the postal service, it's not such a joke. 😔

This week is . Each month throughout the UK, there are 30-40 dog attacks on postal workers. To help combat this issue, we are working with Royal Mail to provide resources for owners and workers alike to help understand canine communication and keep everyone safe.

If you or someone you know is struggling with a dog acting aggressively, here's some advice from our experts: http://pdsa.me/o2Vf

Cats can get heat stroke in the same way humans do. Keep an eye on your cat's behaviour and know the signs of heatstroke, and if you notice any then contact your vet immediately and seek advice.
