It's been a long December. Storm Darragh was not our friend, however we continue with our quest and have managed to get the gates hung amongst all the other jobs. Thankfully the nights are now drawing out and we can look forward to more productive days.
We have also welcomed Logan to the field. It won't be long till the track is opened and we can start expanding the herd even further.
Happy New Year everyone.

All the rails are now in place. Time to move onto the gates. First gate up is already keeping out the wild animals.

Our beautiful Winnie/Winona/Wyn/Wynz/Winnebago has been with us for 9 years next month. She suffered a nasty hind suspensory ligament injury 2 years ago. Alys has helped her through this slowly and carefully, never pushing too hard or too fast and letting her take the time she needed to heal. She has recovered and is fully sound. It would have been amazing to have a rehab track to aid her recovery. When the retirement track is finished, we will build a rehab track, and along with Alys's rehab skills, help other horses in the future.

Started putting on the rails now. Dice is not a fan of the staple gun, thankfully he has his emotional support animal (Granny Jan) to comfort him.

Time to sort out the drainage on the track. Only time I've managed to get Alys off the tractor was to get her onto the digger instead. Winter light is not our friend but the work carries on regardless.

Here at Birch Equine we don't just think about horses and ponies. We are adding to the hedgerows, planting trees, leaving areas of meadow and digging ponds to support local wildlife and encourage biodiversity. 🐦‍⬛🦉🦇🦗🐸🌼🥀

Our ponies will be the first to test the tracks when they are finished. Here is our Blaengwen Samantha. 28 yr old Welsh Section C and still full of sass! She taught Alys to ride and has been part of our family for 16 years. We love her and we think she likes us. 😆
