When you can't be at home because of work, holiday or other commitments, I am here to care for them with the same love and attention that you would give. The dogs have full run of the house. I am fully insured; CRB checked and can offer lots of great references from my very happy client base. I vet all dogs in my care during a home visit, ensuring your dog is only socialised with other friendly dogs

Glad to see Derbyshire Rural Crime Team & Derbyshire Constabulary are prosecuting these offences. But it also highlights that all owners should have pet insurance. The financial loss to the farmer was able to be claimed back from the dog owners insurance. Could you afford to pay £8000 if your dog got off their lead and killed livestock?

| A woman whose dogs killed 15 sheep and injured a further 13 has been fined.

Evie Watson was walking her lurcher type dog Beans and Spanish Greyhound Patcho in the fields near her home in Littleover on 17 May.
Beans was off the lead but after Watson dropped Patcho’s lead while she untangled him, both dogs then ran off.

The dogs were found over three hours later in a field with a number of injured and dead sheep. In total 15 sheep were killed and a further 13 were injured, with the cost to the farmers being more than £7,400.

One of the dogs was found collapsed so Watson picked him up and took him to the vets before reporting the matter to police the following day.

In a victim impact statement, the farmer said: “I am hopeful that our financial losses will be covered by insurance but this really should not have happened in the first place. Farmers like us work hard, and our livelihood depends on us producing good quality livestock and is a long term enterprise. A disruption such as this can take years to recover from.”

Watson, 27, of Ryedale Gardens, was subsequently charged with being the owner of a dog worrying livestock.

She appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on 28 August when she admitted the offence and was fined £475 and ordered to pay a £190 surcharge and £85 costs.

Sergeant Chris Wilkinson, from our Rural Crime Team, said: “Livestock worrying can have a devastating impact on farmers who are working hard to make a living. This incident will continue to affect the farmers involved both financially and emotionally for some time to come.

“No-one ever wants to believe that their dog is capable of hurting other animals but as has been seen time and time again they can and do return to their predator instincts and chase livestock if given the chance.

“That’s why it is vital that dogs are always kept on leads around livestock no matter how much control you believe you have over them.

“Livestock worrying is a crime which could, as has happened in this case, land you in court, so it’s just not worth the risk. Don’t take the chance and keep your dog under control and on a lead.”

So glad that chargers are being brought against people.
It is upsetting for the farmer and the owner of the dogs.
Please make sure your dogs are on a lead around livestock.

Evie Watson from Derby has been charged with being the owner of a dog worrying livestock following an incident in May during which her 2 dogs got loose and attacked sheep at a farm in Willington. This attack resulted in the death of 15 sheep and injury caused to a further 13.

This was a very upsetting incident for everyone involved, including the owner of the dog. The financial and emotional damage caused to the farmer are significant and will be felt for a long time.

Please ensure your dog is secure and under control if there is a chance you could encounter livestock 🙏

26/07/2024

Good afternoon everyone,

I hate doing this but with the cost of Licencing, insurance, fuel and other related costs increasing, I have no choice but to put my prices up from 1st October - I have made sure I am still one of the best value Home boarders in the area and only made a small increase.

From 1st October

Half day daycare will increase to £13
Full day daycare will increase to £20
Boarding per 24 hours will increase to £25
Mon-Fri daycare will increase to £90

Can I remind everyone that boarding is per 24 hours and a daycare rate is charged for extra hours
For example if I pick your dog up at 8am on a Monday and return then home at 3pm on a Tuesday then the cost is a full daycare and a boarding rate.

Double charge for bank holidays still stand.

I still do not charge for drop offs and pick up.

If you already have boarding bookings in with me, the current rate stands, the rate is only for new bookings.

I hope you all understand the price increases, I hate doing them.

Thank you for your continued support
I have the best clients.

This week at training classes we have worked with distractions.
It is all well and good your dog being able to do behaviours in a controlled environment buts it's a whole different game when there are lots of noises, smells and sounds to contend with.
We worked on stays, door threshold, recall and loose lead walking.
Everyone's hard work is really paying off.
