Rescue Dogs Need More Guidance ‼️This Is Isabelle, A Beautiful Rescue Mix From Romania. Isabelle Has Been With Her Family For Quite Some Time But Shes Been Having Some Trouble Adjusting To Humans 👩Isabelle Goes Bonkers At The Front Door, This Is Classical Conditioning At Its Finest. She Learnt A Noise Means Someone Is Hear To Which She Will Charge The Door, Barking And Filling Herself With Adrenaline Acting On Her Nerves 😬 Isabelle Will Not Let Builders Or Strange Men In And Its Making Homelife Very Difficult And Anxiety Inducing On Her Next Move. Isabelle Will Also Guard The Door And Bite You If You Try To Remove Her 🫣First Things First, Her Owner Needed To Take Control Back And Claim Back The Space Where Incidents Happen. Having A Reactive Dog At The Door When Someone Arrives Is A Recipe For Disaster! This Way We Can Calm Isabelle’s Initial Response And Teach Through Predictable Patterns There Is Nothing To Worry About ✅She Needs To Be Resocialised Completely BUT This Was A Good First Step! Isabelle Was Much Calmer By The End Of Our Session 💖
Enthusiasm VS Rudeness - Which Is Which? That For Me Depends On A Time And A Place! We Want Our Dogs To Be Enthusiastic For Our Training Sessions And To Want Those Interactions With Us - Floyd Is A Perfect Example! I Wouldn’t Correct This Behaviour In This Context As This Is Floyd’s Enthusiasm Rather Than A Lack Of Manners. Jumping Up Whilst Walking Through A Door With A Few Bags Of Shopping Would Be The Wrong Time And Place! Work Your Dogs “Work Mode” & Work Their “Play Mode” - Both Really Come In Handy ❤️ #justathought #foodforthought
🤬 RANT POST INCOMING 🤬
I Try My Best To Keep The Page As Positive As It Can Be But This Honestly Grinds My Gears!
One Of My Clients Was Out On A Walk Yesterday Around 1:45 In Honley Woods (Huddersfield) When My Client Was Set About And Attacked By Two Husky’s! The Dog Who Was Attacked Is A Very Nervous Boy In General Hence Why He Is In Training With Me.
The Two Husky’s Were Offlead And Completely Out Of The Owners Control, They Came And Bounced All Over My Clients Dog Who Was On A Lead And His Owner Tried To Kick Them Away And Defend His Dog. The Owner Of The Husky’s Shouted Over That His Dogs Was Okay And In Training. When My Client Asked Him To Come And Get His Dogs Along Came A Tirade Of Abuse (Deflection Of His Own Actions And Lack Of Control) And Threatened To Have The Dogs “Rip His Throat Out” If He See’s Them Again.
This Kind Of Dog Ownership Is Irresponsible And Frankly Dangerous And They Honestly Have No Business Owning Dogs. Not Only Did He Not Have Any Common Courtesy But Allowing His Dogs To Behave This Way Tells Me They Don’t Care About Their Own Dogs Welfare Either.
This Has Been Reported To The Police And With Any Luck Will Be Investigated Under The Dangerous Dogs Act.
Description Of The People In Question: 2 White Males And 1 White Female, All In Tracksuits And Under The Influence Of A Unknown Substance. Both Husky’s Bright White Coloured. 1 Male And 1 Female - The Male Attacked.
Incidents Like This Happen Daily And The Fallout Can Be Devastating For The Owner And The Dog! Carry A Spare Lead Or Even 2 And Of A Strange Dog Approaches You Unwanted Then You Can Quickly Gain Control If Needed.
The Media Blames Breeds For The Rise In Attacks On Humans And Dogs In Todays World. A Dog Will Be A Dog But Only If Allowed And Abled By Their Human Owner. Simple. I Blame The Other End Of The Lead.
Please Share To Raise Awareness Guys, I Would Hate For This To Happen To Anyone Else. Picture Attached At The Bottom To Mark Wher
‼️ With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility ‼️
This Is Monty, A Beautiful Alaskan Malamute x Golden Retriever - He’s Been Causing Quite The Stir On His Walks And Theres A Couple Of Factors That Play Into This ⬇️
Monty Is Quite A Laid Back Lad For His Hybrid Of Breeds, He Was Attacked A While Ago That We Believe Has Impacted Him & His Confidence And Potentially Triggered Some Nerve. Contarary To This Monty Can Get Really Excited When He See’s Dogs He Knows - Definitely Barrier Frustration At Play Which You See In The First Clip 🥴
He Would Pull Like A Tank To Get To What He Wants And Quickly Pull Back Home If He Was Spooked So We Have Big Conflicting Feelings Here For Monty Which We Need To Help Him With 💙
Loosing The Tension From His Lead And Building A Steady And Solid Relationship With His Owner Through Trust & Guidance Is Where We Need To Start! Monty Had Never Been So Engaged And Focussed On His Lead Before This Session. I Can’t Wait To Progress Monty & His Owners Further 👍
Callie Is 7 This Month! 🥳
On The 25th January 2018 A Crazy Little Bundle Of Springer Spaniels Came Into The World And We Met Our Big Beak - Callie’s Nickname 😆
We Have No Idea Where Time Has Gone BUT We Have A Birthday Surprise For You Guys That Callie Wants To Share With You Very Very Soon 🤫
Keep A Eye On Our Page For Big Beak’s Birthday Banaza 👀‼️
A Year Ago Vs Today! 🥳
Alot Of Dogs I Meet Can Have HUGE Behavioural Issues Due To Smaller Issues Not Been Correctly Dealt With!
When You Begin To See A Problem Pattern Of Behaviour Tackling It There & Then Will Cost You Less Money And Usually Less Time In The Long Run. The Longer A Issue Goes On The More Your Dog Is Reinforced And The Sooner The Behaviour Becomes Habitual Making It Harder To
Undo 🤷♀️
Monty Was Severely Reactive When I Met Him, Walks Was A Nightmare For Him And For His Mum. They Had Worked With A Previous Trainer That Advised Monty “Just Needed To Get His Energy Out” And To Let Him Run Around Full Pelt Before Taking Him Out.. All This Did Was Get Monty Into A Even Bigger Heightened State Making His Reactivity Much Worse..
He’s A Very Different Dog Today And Has Much More Variation, Freedom And GOOD Stimulation As A Result! This Session Was A Big Test For Him.
We Saw Lots Of People, Lots Of Dogs And Mont Took Everything In His Stride. So So Proud Of This Little Chap 💙
Repetition Is The Glue To Any Training ‼️
The Basics Are Often THE Most Important ‼️
Does Your Dog Truly Understand What You Are Asking Them? Do They Understand The Word Paired With The Action? If They Don’t, You Need Lots More Practise Before You Ask Of That Behaviour In A Distracting Picture 🙏
Doing Some Simple Place & Heel Training With Floyd Helps Him Understand What We Are Asking! Getting Frustrated At Your Dog For Not Understanding What You Want Without Doing The Work Is Like Getting Angry At A Child That Cant Spell Without Any Teaching 🤷♀️
Easy Win Sessions Are Great For Your Dog And Their Enthusiasm Towards Working With You, They Learn Very Quickly It Pays To Listen ❤️
Hendrix Was Involved In This Session Too, His Job Was To Stay Where He Was! He Was Paid Very Handsomely 😂
Whenever I’m Preparing Food For Training.. There Is A Hendrix 😂 #waggingtails #someoneswatchingme
Love A Day Session With A Dash! More Coming Soon ❤️
‼️ Give A Dog A Job ‼️
Ever Thought About Giving Your Dog A Job? 💭
We Rely On Physical Exercise To Tire Our Dog But The Truth Is It Simply Isn’t Enough! Dogs Are Sentient And Intelligent And Thrive With New Tasks That Encourage Problem Solving And Mental Focus! 🧠
Scent Work Can Be A Game Changer To Your Dog!
Mr Mac Has A Very Busy Brain And Gets Bored Very Easily Which Can Lead To Disruptive Behaviour, He Has Plenty Of Exercise So Adding A Few Scentwork Games To His Routine Was The Icing On The Cake 🎂
We Gave Him A Few Easy Wins Whilst He Found His Feet And Escalated This To More Difficult Tasks! Being A Former Street Dog His Nose Detects Any Amount Of Food 😆
Loved This Session With Mac, He Loved It Even More ❤️
Am I The Only One Who Notices A Dramatic Drop Seeings Dogs Out On Walks During Winter? ❄️
And A Huge Tidal Wave Of Dogs Return In Summer? ☀️
The Weather Should Not Impact Your Dog’s Exercise Needs (If They Are Fit & Healthy) Wrap Up Warm And Get Out There To Have Some Fun 🤩
I Used To Hate The Autumn And Winter Season Years Ago But Nowadays I Have A Deep Love For Them ❤️
A Quiet Life Is A Happy Life 🙏
A Couple Of Months From Now, You Can Be On A Completely Different Journey With Your Dog 🐶
All You Need To Do Is Take The First Step ✅
Nellie’s Owners Contacted Me A Couple Of Months Ago To Help With Nellie’s Leadpulling And Dog Reactivity Out On Her Walks, They Had Worked With A Trainer When She Was Younger But Unfortunately It Didn’t Stick And She Got Herself Into A Reactive Behaviour Cycle 🔁
Her Owner Sent Me These Little Clips A Few Weeks After Our Initial Training Session And She Is Doing Tons Better! ❤️
Can’t Wait To Catch Up Later This Month 😍
