Most of our snails are bred from wild caught parents so that we can offer first generation offspring.
We are 100% dedicated to our hobby with a combined experience of more than 90 years in the keeping, breeding and rearing of exotic pets.
As well as our hobby we have experience in lots of other trades and can turn our hand to almost anything. Some members have been managers at the biggest, well know pet supplies shop and garden centers, Others have spent decades in the building, Motor and engineering trades. Making our team very versatile.
We are always happy to advise and assist with all queries even if you haven't purchased your live items from us. We help people with a range of invertebrates daily.
Our guarantee to all of our customers is as follows. Your item will arrived expertly packed with custom made packaging (not just any old box that the item will fit in to). Your items will arrive alive and in perfect health. We will replace any item that has any kind of issue like for like and we will do so without delay. We allow up to 48 hours to report any potential issues but it doesn’t end there and we are more than happy to address issues months later if there is an actual problem. All you need to do is ask!
In the unlikely case that you do have a problem, we ask that you come to us and allow us to advise and address the issue. Please do not take your issues to online forums before contacting us. If you have not informed us of a problem then we cannot help!
Some of the online forums are a great way to get friendly advice and support, others are full of trolls and inexperienced keepers that are readily giving advice on subjects or species that they dont have the experience in, this can lead to confusion, incorrect actions and advice. Please remember that everyone has different ways to do things. By doing things differently doesn’t automatically make it wrong! There are certain group of people in the forums that will disagree with any advice we give whether they believe it to be good advice or not. When being confronted by these people please ask yourself this question. “does this total stranger really have my best interests at heart or do they have another agenda?”
This week we have had 3 people come to us asking for advice on their set ups. All of them had purchased snails that require high temperatures and humidity. They all had problems with heat and humidity. As standard practice we always ask for photos of the set up before we can advise. When seeing the set ups that have been created none of them were at all suitable for the species being housed. When offering the advice to fix their issues they have all said that they have been advised that the set ups were correct via people in forums. This is really frustrating for us and for the customer. One lady spent over £200 creating a set up that was totally unsuitable on the advice of an online forum!
Whilst we are on the subject of online forums we would like to bust some myths. We see statements everyday on forums that have no truth what so ever. Some look like the statements below.
Bugznbits dont cull runts! - our response is, All runts are culled, Fulica, Immac, Retics and other snails can lay 200-300 eggs in a batch with 3 or 4 weeks in between batches. What would we do with all these snails? Even we don’t and cant supply 200-300 snails every 3 to 4 weeks. We only select a handful of the best snails from each batch to be grown on. This is a Fact! if you have a snail from us that seems to have stopped growing, please get in touch we will help.
Bugznbits snail food is full of fillers and steroids = Our response is, Our snail mix is a fine blended cereal based food that is balanced in both protein and calcium. The only thing that is added to our base mix is organically sourced foods that is intended for human consumption. There are plenty of sellers out there supplying snail food, new one seems to pop up everyday. These foods are often not fit for purpose and dont contain the balance that is required in a supplementary food. If is not balanced then there is no point in using it a supplementary food as this has difference than regular fruit and veg. WE ARE THE ONLY TRADING STANDARDS REGISTERED snail mix producer for Pet snails in the UK. There are other registered food producers but this is for the farming market for producing snails for consumption and not for the pet trade. Again everything in the section is a fact!
Bugznbits are supplying snails that dont exist = Our response is, Please do your homework and actually have a reason for saying this, only last week we were told that one of our known customers has been receiving private messages from people on forums saying that we are making up names and variations and you should stay away. We also had one lady come back to us that had received a beautiful tiger snail from us and showed it on the forums. She was quickly advised the the snail wasn’t a tiger snail and is in fact a standard Fulica. The snail was a tiger snail in all its glory and we really do not understand why people just make up complete nonsense. Again everything in this section is fact!
