🐾What a pawsome evening I had at Mulberry House Vets in Binfield last night! 🐾

It was absolutely delightful meeting so many more adorable new puppies and their eager to learn pawrents.

💕 I shared plenty of tips, tricks, and laughs, and it’s heartwarming to see so many keen to get things just right for their little ones.

The energy, excitement, and pure joy in the room were contagious!

Thank you all for coming along and making the evening such a success.

I can’t wait to see how your pups progress and grow into confident, happy canines. 🐶🌟

📌Social Walk Update!‼️‼️‼️

I was all set for a lovely social walk tomorrow, but with only one person interested in joining us, it seems we’d be more of a duo than a group! 😅

Unfortunately, I can’t quite justify running it this time, but we’ll be back soon with more opportunities for a good walk and wag.

🌟 What a fantastic first Puppy Hints & Tips Evening of 2025 at Mulberry House Vets in Binfield last night! 🐶

I am thrilled to be asked by the team at Mulberry House Vets to lead these sessions.

It was an absolute joy to work with three gorgeous puppies, all girls, each with their own wonderful personalities. 💖

A huge thank you to the puppy parents who joined us.
I loved seeing the puppies’ curiosity and enthusiasm, and we’re excited to watch them grow into confident, happy canines!

So very sad today, to hear of the passing of the wonderful Karen Pryor.

Such an inspiration for me and countless other trainers I’m sure.

At The Little Dog Trainer, we want to honour the incredible legacy of Karen Pryor, a true pioneer in dog training.

Her groundbreaking work with clicker training transformed the way we communicate with our dogs, shifting the focus to positive reinforcement and mutual understanding.

Karen’s influence runs deep in everything we do, guiding us to train with compassion, patience, and science-backed methods.

Her teachings have helped countless dogs and their families build stronger, happier relationships.

We are forever grateful for her contributions and are committed to carrying forward her vision, ensuring that her legacy lives on in every well-trained, joyful dog we help.

I had a wonderful evening at Mulberry House Vets in Binfield on Tuesday night!

It was fantastic to see so many gorgeous puppies and their enthusiastic owners, all eager to learn.

The joy in the room was contagious!

As we approach the festive season, it’s such a pleasure to help ensure these pups enjoy their first Christmas safely – from tree tinsel to turkey scraps, we covered it all! 🎄🐾

What a fantastic way to end this year’s social walks!

The 4 amigos (or should I say Milly’s boyfriends? 😉) had the best time doing what dogs love most — running, sniffing, and playing to their hearts’ content! And just made a still group photo 🤣

Thank you to everyone who came along and shared in the fun.

We had such a laugh, and I feel incredibly lucky to know such wonderful people through our shared love of dogs. 🐾

This week I had the privilege to meet again this most adorable Labradoodle.

Her family wanted tips on how to teach her not to jump up and a few other things too.

Jumping up is one of the hardest things a lot of dogs struggle not to do. Typically the Poodle crosses I’m sure are born with jumping beans 🫘 in their feet 🤣. Don’t forget I have two 😳🤦‍♀️😬.

Jumping up is a behaviour many owners of poodle-crossed dogs struggle with, and there’s a good reason for it! These intelligent, energetic dogs inherit traits from their poodle lineage that make them prone to this behaviour.

Here’s why:
1️⃣ High Intelligence: Poodles and their crosses are incredibly smart and often learn that jumping up is a quick way to grab attention, even if it’s unintended.

2️⃣ Affectionate Nature: Poodles love to be close to their people. Jumping allows them to get face-to-face (or nose-to-nose!) with you, satisfying their desire for connection.

3️⃣ Energy Levels: These dogs are typically very energetic, and jumping is a way to release that energy.

4️⃣ Reinforcement: Owners often accidentally reward jumping by laughing, patting, or reacting—positive attention, even if it’s meant as discouragement.

But don’t worry—this behaviour can be managed! With consistent training and rewarding calm, four-paws-on-the-floor behaviours, and other training tips and tricks I have in my training plans, your pup can learn better ways to greet people.

Be mindful if your dog jumps due to being worried about something rather than excitement pay notice and comfort them.

🐾 Lovely to Meet the Puppies! 🐾

I had such a wonderful time meeting more adorable new puppies at last night’s Hints & Tips Evening at Mulberry House Vets!

It was a pleasure to share advice with you and help set these little ones up for a confident, happy start. They were a mix of ages between 9 & 10 weeks of age 💜🐶

OMG I’m in love yet again 🤣

It’s no secret that I adore Cockapoos ! Having adopted two with challenging behaviour issues, they have taught me so much. (As does every dog anyone owns )

They are such a clever and loving breed, but they’re also often misunderstood. Last week, I had the pleasure of working with a gorgeous little Cockapoo who was struggling with biting, toilet training, and jumping up—common challenges for this breed.

Cockapoos are a blend of the intelligence of a Poodle and the affectionate nature of a Cocker Spaniel, but this mix can also mean high energy, a strong will, and a need for consistency. Without the right guidance, their cleverness can lead to behaviours like excessive jumping or nipping to seek attention.

It’s never about them being “naughty” but rather not knowing what’s expected of them. With patience and positive training methods, these issues can be transformed into polite behaviours. I’m always so proud to see the progress these little bundles of joy make with the right approach.
