Tuesday Training at the woods and what a great day we had 🎉😀

Many thanks for bringing such a fab group of friends to train today at Riverlily.
We had a 3 hour Water Workshop and what fabulous progressions were made by the end. 🎉🤩✅
Deliveries to hand and if not the handlers now have clear plans for how to achieve a successful and consistent delivery going forward 🤩
Long marks over the widest part of the lake on the far side 🤩Including picking off a drive there too 🤩
Blinds over the lake for the more experienced dogs 🤩
Steadiness worked on for some who find the water super exciting🤩
And Prosecco to finish at lunchtime…how fabulous 🥂🥂🥂🥂

Summer evening training as it should be 🎉❤️
Relaxed but we got work done ✅
Lots of laughter but we worked on training issues✅
All the dogs went home with homework on a positive note ✅✅

A great day for our Monday Teams.
We changed location so we could use the shade and water as today was predicted to be hot and sunny. 💦☀️
Some of the dogs were reluctant swimmers and we worked on their confidence in entering the water🎉
Some dogs were super confident so we worked on steadiness and delivery 🎉

A fab day with great friends at the Game Fair yesterday 🎉🥂🤩
Seeing our European friends from the Eurochallenge was brilliant and catching up with lots of people along the way was too❤️🎉
Bacon and egg roll, Pimms, ice cream, shopping, dogs, demo watching and just chilling with no work….felt like a holiday 🤣🤣🥂🎉

A great second day at Rickneys with a great group of dogs and handlers 🤩🎉
We used the launchers for marks and distractions into cover and really tested the dogs on their lines. Welll done everyone 🎉🤩
We also taught our new friends from 🇩🇪 the joys of a crisp sandwich 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Many thanks to all the committee, helpers, judges and the landowner at the recent UGS Eastern Counties novice sugarbeet test. A day of walked up tests in sunny Suffolk🎉
Sparkle and Dazzle had a great day and I was super pleased with their marking and heelwork and a couple of fabulous straight line casts on a blind too.
Still lots to work on but we’re ticking the boxes slowly 🤩🎉🥰
Sparkle was lucky enough to be awarded a COM at the end of the day 🤣❤️

A great day last week in sunny Suffolk with 🎉🤩
Dazzle and Sparkle were put through their paces over cover strips and ditches with water distractions and launcher marks in the mix too.
We all had a fabulous day …. Thanks Jo and thanks Mick for being such a brilliant tosser 🤣🤣🎉

It’s been a busy few days here at Riverlily🎉🤩
A few days ago Starry and Rooster had a visit from Louise from for a well deserved canine massage.
I highly recommend booking a session for your working dogs and pet dogs to maintain their fitness or to address a specific issue. 👍

More directional commands over the lake 🎉

Water retrieves 🎉

Many people spend hours casting their dogs off their arm to go over or retrieve in water which is very important. 😀 Don't forget to practice sending your dog over or into water off a directional command too. 🎉 Off a left, right or back command some dogs may see the waters edge as a barrier and will hunt the near side bank rather than enter the water unless this is trained as an individual concept.✅ Get a head start on your opponents in competitions or be the handler who picks that elusive bird on the far side on a shoot by practicing directions over water this summer Start with memory marks and build up to blinds. 🎉😀 Come and join us at Riverlily this summer on our Water Workshops and we will help you all the way. 🎉✅😀

Sherman loves a challenge. Nothing stands in his way of a retrieve 🤩🎉

With summer well on its way and many people taking ownership of new puppies here is a little video to help ensure your dog loves retrieving and learns to fly out and back at speed. 🎉🤩. With my puppies I never start to formalise retrieves too early. Too many rules and regulations at a young age may dampen a pups enthusiasm and confidence. In this video Dazzle is 6 months old and when retrieving I let her run in and think it's the best game ever. 🎉Once this has been established I start to introduce more structure. Behind the scenes I am working hard on the basic foundations of dog training such as recall, heelwork, impulse control, sit/stay and good puppy manners. 🎉🤩 These elements need to be established in order that your puppy can progress through the training process. 🥰 Of course there are many different ways to train a dog that will get you to same ultimate destination of a well trained gundog this is just one idea. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
