Smooth Collies are elegant, active, intelligent dogs and make excellent family pets. The Rough Collie has always been more glamorous and better known due to the Lassie films.
The Smooth Collie was bred to herd sheep or drive cattle, so stamina and endurance are traits of this breed with the ability to work in all weathers. . Amongst the dogs taken from Balmoral to Windsor Castle by Queen Victoria was her favourite dog Sharp who was a Smooth.
The Beagle is the smallest of the British pack hounds bred to hunt hare.
While they are working animals with a strong nose sometimes distracting them from their training, they tend to be adaptable and intelligent, and thrive on companionship and social interaction. This makes for a loving and versatile hound with a sense of joy and adventure.

German Shepherd dog (Pastoral Group). Versatile worker & service dog noted for bravery & intelligence. Black is one of the breed standard colours for this breed along with black & tan, black & gold and sable.
The German Shepherd or Alsatian was originally bred in Germany using various different German herding dogs.
It has since been used as a working dog by the police and the armed forces. From the First World War the bravery and temperament of the German Shepherd has gained the breed worldwide recognition and praise and he has shown his worth in other disciplines too:- as a guide dog for the blind, as a tracking dog, and in obedience. They can become overprotective of their family and territory, especially if not socialised correctly. #germanshepherd #dogboarding #littleballkennels

A cross between a Bedlington Terrier and a Whippet. The cross has been a popular one for about 100 years. Bedlington Terriers were used for rat hunting and Whippets for hare coursing and racing. Fun, friendly and active. A robust crossbred which are generally very loyal.
There is evidence that the russet gold Vizsla was being used in falconry as far back as the 14th Century on the central plains of Hungary. His fine, slightly greasy coat equips him for working in the high temperatures of the plains.
In the late 19th Century some of the dwindling population were mated to pointing dogs. During the World Wars many of the Vizslas were destroyed, but fortunately, refugees from Hungary took their dogs with them and it is from this stock that the breed was resurrected. Elegant and moderately boned, the Vizsla has a nobility in its head and carriage. #dogbreeds #dogsbeingdogs #dogboardingguests #viszla #littleballkennels🐾
So many reasons are documented:
•supplementation
•soothing an upset stomach
•curiosity/attention
My favourite is
•instinctive behaviour- We know from research on wolves that 2-10% of their stomach contents may contain plant material. Wild canids (from the Canidae family, which includes wolves, jackals, foxes, and coyotes) also have been observed to eat grass.

Labs Love the Water
In fact, these dogs were made for the water! Their thick tail (sometimes called an “otter tail”) is used as a powerful rudder, their webbed feet help them swim fast, and their thick, waterproof coats keep them happy even in cold water, like the icy Newfoundland waters where they were first bred.
