Hi everyone! Just a quick reminder that there will unfortunately be no drop in Saturday this weekend!
My daughter Kate is going into hospital to have her first baby (my first grandson!) so we’ll be back and forth from the sanctuary and Leeds hospital all the weekend!
A big thank you to all the volunteers who have offered to help this weekend so we can be with Kate as much as possible and to Mark and Kate’s team who will be looking after the rest of the animal family here while she’s away!
Obviously it’s a very exciting time for us and whilst we’ll still be open we’d appreciate it if all general enquiries could be made before Thursday and after Monday next week, leaving emergencies only over the weekend! This will allow us to spend as much time together as a family as possible at this new and exciting time!
Thank you all☺️🐈⬛🤰🏼
A RESCUE WITHIN THE SANCTUARY - this morning, we woke to find one of the units was open and both residents were out in the garden feeling very cold and regretting their decision to escape!
We thought you’d enjoy this video of us helping the more timid of the two cats to find her way back to warmth and safety with help from the rest of the team!
Due to where she was we had to get creative and it’s safe to say we had a good laugh along the way😂 we hope you do too!
A VERY COLD NIGHT- thought you might like to see what it is like here throughout the night, this was last night when temperatures were below zero. We moved more vulnerable cats inside, and any units that are not heated have heated pads placed in their beds. We also give the cats more to eat, they are checked through the night until around 4am, so all the cats here are only alone for 4 hours. We are very much looking forward to spring. If you are thinking of adopting or fostering now is a really good time to help our babies and get them into homes where they are warm and cosy and of course be loved❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
HAPPY NEW YEAR - We have so many exciting things happening, we have been working really hard over the Christmas holidays, and I will be showing you what we have done shortly. Thank you with all my heart for everyone’s support. You have helped so many cats and kittens 2025 is going to be so busy but with your help we hope to rehome over 600 cats and kittens and help hundreds more.
I hope you all have a very happy and healthy New Year❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
CHRISTMAS DAY at the sanctuary. Merry Christmas, and thank you to our wonderful volunteers who came along to help, the cats enjoyed their normal food plus, chicken, prawns and fresh salmon, my treat for the babies.
Live to you all 💕💕💕
STORM DARRAGH
What a tough 2 days and still very blustery here tonight. I’m so grateful that our babies Inky, Mango, Rupert and Raffy are unharmed today, after a huge tree blew over and narrowly missed doing a lot of damage to their unit. It’s so scary to see what could have happened and how frightened they would have been.
Over the last 3 weeks we have re-homed 36 cats and kittens, but there is a staggering number of desperate cats still needing help, so PLEASE, if you can help in any way by adopting, fostering or donating to help us help them, we'd be so grateful 💕
Thank you as always for your support!
Tina ❤️
SPECIAL HOMES- CAN YOU HELP - 🐈⬛
There are some very over looked cats here, who because they are a little shy have not yet managed to find a home and I want to show them to you all, as they get left behind as there is always another cat more friendly etc
Raffy was caught at Raflatac as a very shy girl, she was in our utility in the house where she was so scared, this is where she met Rupert and after a couple of days we would see them playing with toys throwing them up in the air it was so sweet. We moved them into an outside unit with our 2 girls Inky and Mango who have now been here for over 2 years, they are sweet girls who are timid, they came in with 14 other older kittens who have all been rehomed and doing incredibly well.
I know if given that CHANCE they would be brilliant, lovely babies. PLEASE if you have patience and a lot of love 💕do something really special for these babies or others who just need extra support
Thank you so much my number is 07796950817💕💕
A VERY COLD DAY - Please if you are thinking of adopting/fostering, fill in a form which is located in our website, under the heading of ‘how can we help’, please be patient with us, and perhaps give me a call, because of the weather many of our volunteers are finding even getting here too difficult, so I am outside feeding the cats literally for about 12 hours a day 😭
I would love adoption forms to come in for cats who also need just a little patience, as they are just a little timid but within a week would be perfect ❤️
I’m going to be putting a few videos on here in the hope of homes to get some of the 300 cats into warm and loving homes
Please help if you can
Lots of live

BABY MATTY - this is the little boy I told you about in my previous post. He came in during the early hours of Thursday morning, we raced him to the vets for blood tests, and he was given emergency medication. However it was clear from his symptoms that it was neurological, he is mostly blind and is sleeping most if the time, during the first couple of days we had to help him wee and poo, and force feed him. However yesterday and today he has managed to to go to the toilet himself and attempt to to eat. He is doing small circles when walking. We are hoping that time is a great healer💕 He sleeps most of the time, so we are hoping this is helping him repair himself naturally, he is on medication to help possible internal swelling/pain❤️
He is absolutely beautiful, so sweet. I would love for you to help me find a really sweet name for him. At the moment he sleeps with me, he doesn’t move at all, I hope so much we can get him through this.
Thank you everyone for your support to allow us to help them all. Tina 💕💕💕💕
THE VILLAGE - at Filey Cat Rescue, this extended area of the Sanctuary was put up and added to, in order to help a lot of very vulnerable cats and kittens, especially those from the more outdoors type of places, such as our Moors Rescue, and the Catterick cats. The video is a tour to introduce you to some of the residents, I’m sorry it is a long video, but thought you might like to see the beautiful cats, who just want a chance to have a safe and living home, where they might find love for the first time. Thank you for your continued support, because of you,we can help so many cats in need.💕❤️💕
DROP IN SATURDAY - we are open from 11-4 pm every Saturday for you to come round and see us. If you’re thinking about Adopting, Fostering or Volunteering at the Sanctuary or Charity shop, then please drop by and see what we do, you are very welcome.
Tina xx❤️
A BIG THANK YOU 💕
We have had a wonderful drop in day today, I met so many wonderful people, and I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who helps, from the volunteers, to the adopters and foster families, to the man who gives us carpets, to the lady who makes special cards for us, I thank you. For the offers of help to get ready for winter, people giving their most precious time to us to help the cats, I am so grateful. We together will help hundreds of cats a year. We feel you are all friends of Filey Cat Rescue ‘family’💕❤️❤️❤️❤️
