I will be back attending local events next season and will post details later but in the meantime, please email or message me if you’d like to order anything or just for some friendly advice 😊

Storm Darragh Update - Zoo closed tomorrow 08/12/24‼️

We have suffered some significant damage thanks to the storm today - thankfully no staff or animals injured but we could use some help!

The spurred tortoises have been relocated thanks to a tree demolishing half of their paddock, as pictured, so we will now be busy clearing and rebuilding here. The meerkats have also now been evacuated from their enclosure as a second tree threatens to come down on their enclosure tonight! The fence between us and the farmers field has given up so we’ve had cows out for a jolly in the car park, and we’ve also got some damage to the roof of the Reptile Hall, which will need further repairs! All good news - because we’ve got no money!

Our biggest issue is that a whole row of trees have just now erupted out of the ground and torn up a whole section of the tapir paddock fence - and Indra (the tapir) is very unhappy about it! With it being Sunday tomorrow we will be unable to get materials locally until Monday - she is secured for tonight but we desperately need to make emergency repairs at first light. We have a whole bunch of heroes already planning on coming to help us clear and build - but we need approximately 20 6ft or 8 foot fencing stakes, ideally 4" x 4" or 6" x 6" and at least 30ft of galvanised mesh at 4ft or higher to make temporary repairs - does anyone locally have any materials we can borrow/be donated to help with this ASAP!🙏 Much of this damage occurred during the afternoon, so we are only just starting to organise repairs now. We have tonight to look forward to too!

We do have emergency stock of material for these situations but we have never had so much damage from one storm before… any help is greatly appreciated!

PM us, email ([email protected]) or phone the Tropiquaria main land line (01984 640688) at any time!

The zoo is closed because of the high winds (tomorrow - Sunday) in addition to the need for repairs. We are hopefully open again on Monday.

I’m not doing very well this season! Unfortunately I have had to cancel my pitch at Dulverton on Sunday. I am still struggling with a nasty cold and have just lost my beloved golden retriever, Topper, so I’m decidedly out of sorts… I hope to be back up and running for Dunster next weekend but in the meantime please email if you’d like to order anything. Apologies for any inconvenience caused!

Unfortunately, I have a streaming cold and have made the difficult decision to pull out of this weekend’s Exmoor Christmas Fair. I hope you will still visit the event in Porlock as a great deal of effort goes into organising it and it is well worth supporting! Lots of talented local producers have laboured long hours over their creations….

Meanwhile, I shall keep my germs to myself and concentrate on being fit and well for next weekend when you will find me at dulvertonbystarlight 🤞
Sorry to disappoint anyone but hopefully catch up soon!

If any fellow crafters would like to use my pitch, please contact me for details.

😊

Founded in 2012, Painswick Pets take their name from the lovely Cotswold village where they were once based. Now located in Kilve in the equally beautiful Quantock Hills of Somerset, their striking range of quality homemade dog leads, collars and accessories are made using British webbing in a wide variety of colours.
As you can see, we have a very satisfied customer in Stripples already!
