Earlier in the week, Molly, our Head RVN, and Luke, Tregony Lead RVN, finally got to celebrate Luke becoming a fully fledged Veterinary Nurse back in November 2022. Even though he's been registered now for over a year, please join us in congratulating him on this amazing achievement 🎉
Well done Luke! 🥳
📌 Laproscopic Spays
Here is our Practice Directors dog Mabel looking bright and perky two hours after her recent laproscopic spay procedure.
The laproscopic spay (or keyhole surgery) is less invasive and has a shorter recovery time when compared with the traditional midline spay in female dogs.
For more details on this follow the link to our website - https://www.vetcollection.co.uk/our-services/keyhole-surgery/
For more information contact us at the Truro surgery on 01872 283694.
We’re encouraging the return of out of date and unused antibioticsThis month, we’re working with the vet sector
and the NHS to encourage the return of outof-date and unused antibiotics to help tackle the growing issue of antimicrobial resistance.
During our amnesty, we are asking our clients to return out-of-date and unused medicines to our practices for safe disposal
RVN Chloe has been a busy bee with our ever-popular nurse clinics! 🐾 Healthy Pet Club 6-monthly checks, weight clinics, confidence clinics, post-operative checks, puppy and kitten progress checks, second and third vaccinations… the list goes on!
Clifton Villa has joined the Dog Friendly Clinic Scheme, an initiative run by Dogs Trust and the British Veterinary Behaviour Association (BVBA), to ensure the most comfortable veterinary care experience possible for dogs and their owners.
Many dogs find vet visits stressful, which can result in them being unwilling to enter clinics, being difficult to examine, and worried during treatment. The Dog Friendly Clinic scheme helps practice staff develop dog behaviour knowledge and skills so they can recognise and address early signs of anxiety and improve the welfare of dogs whilst in the clinic. This means improved safety for staff and customers and helps the client-clinic bond.
Through the scheme created by Dogs Trust and the BVBA, canine experts provide the tools for clinic staff to learn more about dog behaviour, including how pain and health conditions can be contributing factors to behaviour, and how to reduce the impact of visiting the vet for dogs.
🐰 ENRICHMENT 🐰
How many of you provide your bunnies with a variety of toys and chews?
Do you offer them 'interactive' feeders? Where they have to work out how to reach their yummy prize?
Check out this video of our Rabbit Awareness Week mascot, Bandit, playing around with his interactive feeders at home!
He has kongs, puzzle feeders, stacking pots with treats hidden in between the layers... you name it, he will work it out!
Share your photos and videos of your bunny enrichment hacks in the comments 😍
Are your pets microchip details up to date? 🐾
By law, all cats and dogs must be microchipped with your contact details so that in the event they go wandering and are brought in to us, we are able to reunite you as soon as possible! 🐶🐱
‼️ This must be done directly via your microchip database company - updating your phone number, email address or home address at your veterinary practice does NOT update the details on your chip ‼️
✅ If you are not sure what your pets microchip number is, or which database their microchip is registered to, feel free to book a free of charge microchip check appointment with one of our veterinary nurses 💚
Here is RVN Fran implanting a microchip into a patient after their cat spay! This procedure can be done whilst your pet is awake and is very similar to having a vaccination injection ✅

Have you ever heard of #BanTheBowl ?
If you have a pet who can be fussy at mealtimes but enjoys playing games, try asking them for different tricks or teach them new ones!
Here are Isla and Night RVN Dean playing some games before bed one night last week 😍
Isla had to stay with us for a few nights and wasn’t too keen on her food… so Dean played some games with her and she then ate her full meal in no time at all! 😋
You can use their normal food and play a game until the ‘meal’ is finished, or try swapping out treats for raw carrot for those watching their waistlines! 🥕

This cheeky chappy is Dave the Netherland Dwarf and you may recognise him from some of our previous posts🐰
Well, Dave has been in to see us to be castrated and we filmed some little snippets throughout his day with us. We will be sharing another ‘Behind the Scenes’ video at the end of this week! 😍🎥

Hermione the Tibetan Mastiff puppy practising RECALL with vet nurse Kate at Puppy Club 🐾
Each week we cover a different health topic and a different training topic, as well as learning a new command or trick! ✨
We love watching the relationships between puppy and owner go from strength to strength and we have also found these sessions massively help with puppy’s confidence levels when visiting the vets for other reasons!
To join in the fun, please contact the surgery where we will be happy to book you in 🐾
