I had the pleasure of looking after this sweet baby her whilst her daddy surprised her mummy with a proposal and a ring 💍 when on holiday!

I am so thrilled for them all and have already sent several ideas for outfits she could wear ❤️

This beautiful little lady is a former fugative. Her mum and dad rescued her from a rescuer who stealthily acquired her from a rescue who was going to put her to sleep as it was closing down….

She is so sweet and funny as she actually tidies up her toys back to her basket every day.

If you need someone to look after you cat over holiday season do let me know 🙂 I cover Kingswood, Staple Hill, Fishponds, Downend, Hanham, St George and other surrounding areas.

Many thanks

Rowena

I am so happy and grateful to have been in Your Property Network magazine and the absolute best bit was the mention of my volunteering work at Galgos del Sol and Positive Horse training in Spain.

So much fun looking after big baby Bob who is the only greyhound I’ve ever met who can sit on command. Clever boy. We also went out with Suzie and her mum and we are convinced that Suzie and Bob are related. They are both from Bristol DAWG Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue from around the same time, same build, nearly the same tats….

A great day volunteering at Dogs Friends dog show with Teddy, Phoebe and guest Nala. We all won rosettes but I was particularly proud of Phoebe who was brave enough to go in the show ring and win fourth prize in best rescue from a rescue other than Dogfriends.

We also bumped into my last foster dog who happily settled with her foster mum 😃

Someone just asked in another group about dog types so I wrote this…. Can anyone think of any other benefits to greyhounds?

What’s a great post, I would definitely recommend a greyhound! I have two, and have had another, and find them so wonderful and easy my other job is to babysit them. And before that I had a licensed greyhound hotel…

Benefits:

* they have long legs and short fur so don’t get mud all over themselves and if they do it flakes off easily.
* they allow you to have lie ins as they are happy just mooching on the sofa all day.
* they can go hiking and are fine with it and will just sleep for ages afterwards.
* also happy with a short walk once a day and will still just sleep for ages afterwards
* they are super funny, cute, sensitive, quirky with the oddest ways of contorting their bodies
* loads of people want to chat to you because of them
* you are always doing a great thing as they are always rescued - and for that they really are very grateful
*according to my magic book they defend your home malevolent spirits
* they don’t mind long car journeys - mine has been as far as Malaga
* they like sleeping anywhere. That includes sofas, tents, campervans, pub floors, restaurant floors
* none of that baby hassle you get from a puppy
* they are cheap to rescue compared to RRP of a puppy
* you get the absolute satisfaction knowing you’ve rescued a very grateful soul
* they love adventures, and are very adaptable. Mine have travelled all over and I never have any worries leaving them in air BnBs and that.
* thousands and thousands are in rescue centres across the UK and if you want a puppy they also have Galgo puppies at Galgos del Sol
* they don’t need any “training” just to be loved into doing desired behaviour
* they are excellent judges of character and start to behave weirdly if people are aggy with them (great for taking on dates)
* some already come with EU passports if imported from Ireland to rescues over here (English ones it’s very easy to get EU passports for them.

No matter who you choose my biggest advice is go for personality not breed only. If you want to know anymore let me know and good luck.

And here mine are on the ferry from France back to the UK on a two month or so mega trip volunteering and travelling :)

I’ve had a lovely weekend looking after Suzie the little horse greyhound, eating free range eggs from rescued battery chickens from last weeks meet and greet with DAWG greyhound Bob (who I swear is Suzies brother) doing another meet and greet with a timid Galgo and a whippet x Italian greyhound. Violet the galgo took tree as from me in the end after a long introductory walk. They know the artist Sally Muir who paints galgo and did a special print of Rocket who captured so many hearts at Galgos del Sol to raise funds.

I also ache a little bit as I finally did something that I have been meaning to do for years and dig another pond to replace the one I dug years ago for all the frogs and wildlife. This one has silted up over the years and the apple tree that I sillyly planted years ago to near to it just drops its fruits into it.

I’ve made it in time before the frog spawn hatches so that’s going to be transferred tomorrow before making it all neat and tidy 🙂

So important to look after our wildlife too.

All animals matter ❤️

I had the absolute honour of looking after these two beauties in their home in Bristol last weekend. We had loads of fun and now the happy greyhound bus is back on the road we were able to go on some ambles up Purdown (very very muddy) and Snuffs Mills (we stuck to the paths). Phoebe and Sidney were in their element together and Phoebe chose to sleep downstairs ❤️. Molly loves her nighty and teddy still just lives his mum. It wasn’t all about greyhounds, as the family also have 5 rescued pigeons too and lots of pigeon visitors. One is ten years old :)

If anyone has the capacity to foster one of these gorgeous greyhounds or lurchers please do consider it! Greyhounds are just gorgeous dogs! And Dogsfriends is one of the best rescues I know…. I’ve made a pledge to help as soon as I am in a position to do so…. 📸 Look at this post on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/p/nn4shiskC4yN7rAC/?mibextid=WC7FNe

We have been asked to help with a large number of Greyhounds, and several Lurchers. The first of them arrived today, so say hello to Jack!

The Greyhounds are ex-racing Greyhounds and the Lurchers have been found as strays - all in desperate need of loving homes 💙

We are therefore looking for foster homes to enable us to help as many of them as possible. Hounds are absolutely wonderful dogs, with Greyhounds being known for being super placid and gentle creatures so we really hope that there will be people willing to step up to help them:

Sighthound Specific Foster home criteria -
✅ Loving and nurturing
✅ Secure garden boundary
✅ No cats or small furries
✅ Children 5+

You can read more about fostering here - https://dogsfriends.me.uk/fostering/

I used to enjoy hanging out with this Nutter so much. Taken away from this world too soon but given so much love by his mum and dad who absolutely adored him. If only every dog had parents with that much love to give.

This is absolutely totally off topic, but you may or may not know that I am a property investor and I am able to house sit and go off volunteering around Europe because of the income I make from property.

Contrary to normal belief, you do not need money to get into property if you don’t mind working hard.

If you are interested, or if you know anyone who is interested in Property Investing, I am doing a talk on 10 January in Bristol which I invite you along to as my guest (used the code to get in for free). The details are:
