A Dog is There for Christmas Too, Not Just Other Times of Life....

Involve your pooch in things if they want to be with you, but give them something safe and satisfying to interact with if they need to be engaged.
Make sure they always have a safe place to go to if they are overwhelmed and need space - somewhere that THEY WILL NOT BE DISTURBED e.g. crate /den / bed.

Have him/her in the room while you decorate, but give them something to do/enjoy for themselves .... stuffed Kong/ new toy / treat search around the boxes ...etc.
Involve your pooch in the process, then it won't be a shock or amazing source of wonder being brought in to a glittery grotto!
