Need some specific help training your dog ?

Training your Dog, should be fun. Just like us, dogs have different personalities. So what works for one, may not work for another. It is about finding what works for both of you, but the main thing is make it fun ! If you are not in the best mood to train one day, don't as your dog will pick up on that, instead do something else.
Let's talk Recall Training, very important that we teach our dogs, that they must come back to us when we call, this is responsible dog ownership and it could save their life from a dangerous situation etc.
There are lots of ways to train recall, but it is important to find what works for your dog, make it fun fun fun, so that they think you are the best thing ever to come back to, its so important to keep interacting with them, keep them focused.
Socialising your dog is also an important part of training. Ensuring that they behave in the right way around other dogs, being calm and reading the correct signals. Being polite and knowing when they can say hello to other dogs and when they cannot. All dogs have unique personalities, just like us. Some are extroverts some are not, so it is so important that this part of training is done correctly, otherwise this can cause unwanted behaviour's.

It is important for our Dog’s to be socialised with their own kind.
They all have different personalities, just like us some are outgoing and full of life and want lots of friends and playtime, others are more reserved and like one or two friends. It is so important to teach our dogs to be polite around other dogs and be able to read the body language of what each dog is telling one another, if a dog is unsure, it will give
Signals to the other dog, which in turn the other dog should understand.
After many years working with all sorts of dogs and breed’s specialising in behavioural issues, we are finding that many dogs are lacking in this area. It could be that that have not been socialised in the correct way, which in turn has led to issues, like dogs being over socialised and very excitable around other dogs, this in turn can lead to all sorts of problems, equally a dog that has not been socialised in the correct way, may find itself becoming a target and being bullied.
It is very important that as a dog owner we take responsibility for our dogs, that they become an acceptable & positive part of the community. They need to be polite whilst out in public and we want to enjoy taking a family member out and about with us.
We can help with any behavioural issue, socialising your dogs in the correct way, in a natural environment, all fully secured.

A bit about Puppy Love. Established in 2007

Puppy Love is a family run Business. We are Paul & Donna, a husband and wife team who have owned dogs all our lives. We have owned breeds ranging from Labradors & Collies to Springer spaniels & Dobermans.

We had Owned German Shepherds for many years but sadly lost our last German Shepherd Leah in 2018. This was a very sad loss as Leah was the inspiration behind Puppy Love; she will always be in our hearts & will live on through our Business

We currently have Elmo & Hatter, Loony & Pepsi who are Cardigan Welsh Corgi’s. These are one of Britain’s most vulnerable breeds, so we feel quite privileged to own this intelligent fun loving breed. Some enjoy Agility & some like to strut their stuff in the Show Ring. They have also appeared in a Dog Magazine & our local paper.

Paul started Puppy Love as a Groomer and quickly became known for dealing with the more difficult dogs, this gave him an understanding of how to handle & understand uncontrollable dogs, in which started the path to what we now predominantly specialise in. This part of the business has become a real passion, as we see many behavioral issues in dogs. This could be due to lack of socialisation, bad experiences, dogs coming from rescues & many other reasons. However with the right training for the dog and owner, these issues can be improved, which in turn leads to a more stable dog & a confident owner.

We feel very thankful to have Woofington Woods, which is a secure area in which the dogs are trained & socialised in a natural environment. It can also be hired out for exclusive use.

We hope all our lovely Clients have had a restful Christmas. Thank you kindly for our gifts.

Thank you for your continued support and thank you for entrusting us with your treasured 4 legged family member, we feel truly privileged to share our time with them, they are our true teachers and keep us on our toes and sometimes off our feet , but always keep us laughing.
