It’s always lovely to receive great reviews!
Being a dog walker and dog trainer can be very challenging, it’s hard work, exhausting at times, and very rewarding at the same time.

My boy, Jack & I have just finished the 6 week Junior Juvenile course with Amanda. It has been THE BEST thing for us. Jack was 10 months old when we started and he was boisterous, hyper and a massive hurricane! Working with Amanda, Jack, although still just a big pup so gets very excited, but using the training techniques we’ve worked on, he now focuses on me, listens so much better and it’s now such a pleasure to take him out and about. I no longer get pulled like a train! We then focused more on recall and we attended Amanda’s whistle and recall workshop which just gave us that bit of extra progression to work on. We have absolutely loved the training classes and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Amanda is so lovely, very knowledge and uses positive training methods. Thank you Derbyshire Dog Services 🐾💙

So each week I have a share of funny and not so funny stories from my dog walking experiences.
This week was a little shocking, but thankfully everyone saw the funny side! …

I was walking three big bouncy dogs off lead on a park, when the German Shepherd Luna suddenly disappeared. The next thing I heard were children’s screaming and laughing, I realised she had gone through an open gate into a back garden that backs onto the park. The children were all enjoying the nice weather and playing in a paddling pool.
Now Luna is as her name suggests, a little bit of a lunatic, especially when it comes to water. She adores it and would happily play in water all day. So imagine how happy she was when she spotted the paddling pool…. 😲
As I got to the gate to see her launching full speed towards the pool full of children, she didn’t hesitate to dive straight in covering everyone in water and proceeded to paddle with water going everywhere. The children scattered and the parents watched as Luna proceeded to empty the pool 🙈
Fortunately I got hold of the other two dogs just before they decided to join the paddle pup pawty. And had to retrieve Luna who was living her best life in the pool.
I couldn’t apologise enough to the parents, who thankfully saw the funny side and the children thought it was hilarious. No harm done, and Luna had a whale of a time! 🤣
Sadly didn’t get any photos of the scenario, this is not Luna but my dog Miska enjoying water fun.

With a love for all fur babies, mum to an adorable Akita and a mischievous Malamute, and a passion for the great outdoors, I established Derbyshire Dog Service.

A professional service caring for all your dogs needs. I recently completed a 2 day ‘Career as a dog trainer’ and 4 day ‘Practical Instructor’ training course with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, the leading body for trainers and behaviourists worldwide. Through scientific studies the IMDT have created an ethical, positive and force free way of training our fur babies. And my aim is to share this knowledge to fellow pawrents and help shape dogs of all ages from puppies to mature dogs. A range of training classes will be starting very soon.

With the delightful Derbyshire on my doorstep and so many beautiful places to explore, I offer a full walking service from 1hour walks, to more adventurous all day hikes in the Peak District for those dogs who have lots of energy to burn. With door to door collection and one to one dedication I offer a very pawsonal and caring service. Based in Chesterfield I have Holmebrook Valley Park close by, a beautiful secure place to walk your fur friend. Along with many other great sniffing spots and great places for your dog to explore including the Chatsworth Estate, Beeley Moor, Curbar and many more.
