After a really busy summer, we are enjoying a little holiday time. 😎
❤️ Benji loves to play and interact with me! Play can be such a great reward to use in our training (in the right circumstances) instead of using treat rewards.
🐾 Unlike Benji's day to day toys, this 'special' toy only comes out occasionally. This is what keeps it extra special and increases his motivation and desire to work for it.
I couldn't resist sharing with you this video. I think you'll agree he's rather pleased with himself that he's getting extra access to this special toy, at the end of a successful training session. ❤️🐾
If you would like to get your dog to do the housework while you sit with your feet up, please get in touch. 😅
Happy Sunday, from Marion & Benji ❤️🐾
For all those lovely people out there who have been asking how Benji is doing these days, I thought I'd do a wee video.
Our tricks are by no means polished, as you will see 😅. However....we have great fun, a beautiful connection and Benji loves it. ❤️
So for me, the most important part about being with my best friend is...
🐾 Having fun
🐾 Building our relationship
🐾 Having a happy dog
Training builds that bond, it nurtures that partnership. And from there... Anything is Possible ❤️🐾
I honestly could not be prouder of this boy 🥰.
You may remember my post about Bandit a number of weeks ago. Bandit was lacking confidence and he struggled to leave his mum and to get into the van.
No amount of very high value treats or coaxing was going to encourage him into the van. In fact, that only made him more suspicious! 🤔
🐾 I have worked with this awesome little guy for the past number of weeks and this is the result!!....
🐾 Bandit is not only happy to go out the door with me, after saying goodbye to his mum. But he has found the courage and bravery to feel comfortable getting into the van.
❤️ Using only reward based training to achieve the desired results. We now have a much more confident little Bandit who is choosing to be brave!
❤️ This seemingly simple win, is actually massive!! As Bandit's mum has noticed him being braver in other situations too since our training began.
Well Done Beautiful Boy ❤️🐾
Spectacular little Sadie graduated from her 1-2-1 puppy training program yesterday. 🏆
Recall was just one of many behaviours that we worked on over the weeks to help her thrive and feel confident in the world.
Check out how awesome her recall is in a distracting area. Sadie's family have put in the work and are now reaping the rewards. ❤️
I always schedule 1-2-1 training sessions every 2 weeks rather than weekly (which is the norm). I feel that this gives clients and their dogs time to really work on solidifying the foundation behaviours, before we build upon them each week.
Let's face it, you wouldn't build a house on a shaky foundation, it would never stand the test of time. Dog training is no different. 😊
By structuring our training in layers (obviously making tweaks for the individual dogs and their humans) we build strength upon strength of the behaviour.
At Sadie's final training session yesterday, not only was she running back to her mum and dad like a superstar; she was recalling away from and past distractions.
Well Done Sadie, you are awesome ❤️🐾
When your tutorial videos don't quite go to plan 😅.
It's that moment when Benji realises something isn't quite right.... but like the true film star that he is....he just goes with it. Unlike me!! 😅
Bless him, he makes me laugh and fills my heart all at the one time. ❤️🐾
