💕Sibling love💕

1. 🐱Holly and Jimmy at Urmston
2. 🐱Alice and Dinah at Monton

Sometimes we all need a little bit of emotional support, especially after a surgical procedure! In practice we are able to house siblings/housemates together after their procedures, if both have recovered well and want to be with eachother. This helps them to feel more comfortable and at ease whilst in recovery.

🦷Periodontal (Dental) Disease Progression 🦷

Dental disease can become extremely painful for our pets, especially when in the more progressed stages. Above are some of the signs of periodontal disease and how it can progress in our pets.

Regular teeth brushing can help reduce the build up of plaque and aid in preserving gum health and preventing periodontal disease.

If you notice any of these signs in your dog or cats teeth then your pet could benefit from a free pre op dental check with one of our vets. If you're unsure how to look after your pets teeth properly, and want to talk all things dental related with our nurses then we also offer a 30 minute nurse dental clinic!

🐾Nurse Blood Pressure Clinics Available🐾

Did you know that we offer blood pressure clinics with our nurses!? The gorgeous Loki had a regular visit with us to check his BP is stable and he is always a very good boy 😇

Vet nurses can conduct blood pressure clinics for many different reasons:

1. Early Detection of Health Issues:

Monitoring blood pressure in pets can help detect underlying health problems before they become more serious; allowing for more effective treatment.

2. Routine Monitoring:

For pets with known health conditions, regular blood pressure checks are essential to monitor their condition and adjust treatments as necessary. Helping to manage their health effectively over time.

3. Senior Pet Care:

Pets over the age of 8 can benefit from annual blood pressure checks and blood test checks, which is included in our Senior Wellpet Clinics, to ensure they are staying healthy and their BP is monitored.

4. Hypertension Detection:

High blood pressure in animals can be a silent illness that may not show obvious clinical signs to begin with. Early detection can aid with faster treatment plans.

BP clinics are a valuable service that can contribute to better health maintenance of our furry friends, to book yours please contact the surgery using the numbers in our bio 🐾🩷

This handsome boy came in for his 6 month health check and was an absolute angel, maybe even a little bit too friendly after giving one of our nurses lots of big slobbery kisses!

Rolo's gnashers are some of the best we've seen and Rolo's parents are doing a wonderful job at using dental additives and vet approved treats in his diet to maintain his gorgeous teeth.

After his 6 month health check with a nurse, Rolo's mum now knows why she should incorporate teeth brushing into his dental care.

Kisses from Rolo 💋💋

Having your teeth brushed is a strange experience, and many pets will panic if it is
not introduced slowly and gently. It may take a month or two to reach a point of “proper brushing” – this is normal and nothing to worry about.

What else could pet insurance cover?

Many owners think that taking out pet insurance is just about covering the cost of veterinary care. While that is important, a good policy will also cover you for some of
the other unexpected costs of being a pet owner.

Remember not all pet insurance is the same so it is a good idea to check the cover provided and ask if you will be paying more for claiming.

🦷February marks Dental Health Awareness Month🦷

Did you know that as well as brushing our own teeth, we should also be doing the same with our pets !?

Brushing our pets teeth isn't always something we remember to do but it is extremely important. Just like in humans, our pets can develop dental disease which can ultimately lead to pain, infection and tooth loss.

Regular brushing and dental hygiene additives can help to remove plaque and tartar build up, reducing the risk of dental diseases occurring.

This month we will be putting a focus on providing education around dental health car for your pets including, how to brush your pets teeth, why dental care is so important and some dental products that are available.

Stay tuned for more dental health care advice 🦷🪥😸

🚨NEW EQUIPMENT ALERT🚨

"𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠" 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦!

We are pleased to announce that we can now offer 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐲 to our patients. Endoscopes are long flexible cameras that we can use to look into the body, with a special channel through which an assortment of contraptions can be passed. This nifty bit of kit is a great way to identify things that may otherwise have not been diagnosed, and allows us to avoid expensive and invasive surgery all together.

For example, Billy has raided the bin and swallowed some spiky plastic. Making him sick would be dangerous because it could damage his oesophagus (food pipe) on the way back up. In the past we may have had to operate on his stomach which is more invasive. Instead, with Billy under general anaesthetic, we put a thick plastic stomach tube down his oesophagus, use the endoscope to pull the material into the tube and remove it safely.

Billy can be back home in time to shout at the postman.

We hope that your fur-baby never needs it, but if our endoscope saves just one life, then it will have been worth getting !
