At this time of year if I'm not following hounds then you'll find me crunching over the leaves through the woods with my own little four legged gang. In Nottinghamshire we're so lucky to have hectares of woodland to explore, it's possible to walk for miles without seeing another soul. It's a perfect place to unwind and just enjoy the beautiful autumnal colours.

British Hound Sports Association National Trail Hunting Day 2024 was a fantastic success with multiple packs inviting their neighbours to join as they demonstrated working the trails to thousands of people countrywide.
I spent the morning with the The Cottesmore Hunt who had members of The Quorn Hunt, Fernie Hunt and The Belvoir Hunt following and everyone had a fun exhilarating time. This little video was put together from the first trail of the day. As a stills photographer this is my first go at editing together multiple cameras and soundtracks, the last few days have been a steep learning curve for me as I got to grips with a professional editing suite, so please be kind 🫣 I couldn't have done it without drone footage from @rupertgibsonphotography which is very much appreciated, give him a follow. Big thanks to The Cottesmore Hunt for hosting one of many countrywide meets on National Trail Hunting Day, with local packs the Quorn, Fernie and Belvoir hunts all attending and enjoying the trails. Here's a quick cut of some of today's footage. You can see how hard the Cottesmore hounds worked in hot dry conditions to keep on the trail layer's tricksy route whose aim was to create a few puzzles for them; quick turns and clambers through brambles followed by cuts through hedges and long runs. All designed to mimic the behaviour of a natural quarry and allow the followers in the field to appreciate the hounds working as they were led through the stunning countryside. I'll be posting a longer video over the coming days along with a few snaps too.
