Happy National Puppy Day 🐶Puppyhood really can fly by so quickly…one minute you’re toilet training and avoiding shark teeth, and the next, you’ve got a real life grown up dog 🥹 That’s one of the reasons I love puppy sessions - they don’t stay little for long and it’s so special to capture that new puppy cuteness. Did you guess what gorgeous Daphne was? She came to visit me in the studio when she was 12 weeks, 17 weeks and 6 months old! She’s grown so much already. #muckypupphotography
Studio sessions are where we get the chance to make a bold statement with colour. But there is method in the madness when it comes to which colour. There are two things to think about when it comes to deciding on your backgrounds (we’ll almost always shoot more than one) and they are:What colour is your dog? What colour is your decor at home?I love to using a background colour that will complement your dog. So, if you’ve got a ginger dog, a purple background looks amazing! Grey dogs look great on pink etc. But, the other super important factor to consider is that this artwork will be hanging up in your home, on your walls and it’s really important that it ties in with your decor and your personal taste. So, in the consultation process we’ll go over what your interior design is like so that we can make sure you’ll be happy with the colour choice. Some clients like to match with their home, while others like to contrast. The choice is yours. So, what would you do? 🐾 #muckypupphotography
It really is a heart in the mouth moment…I love unveiling artwork to my clients when they come to pick it up and it’s totally worth every minute of work when you see their faces at the moment they see it for the first time. It’s never a, “here’s your order, goodbye!”- we spend time chatting through the experience and your ideas about where the art is going, just like we did at the beginning. I love it when the dogs come and get the artwork too. The celebrities themselves!🫶Thank you so much to Jen (Howie, Hettie and the pups’ human) for letting me film her reaction- it really was a pleasure to photograph your precious pups. Which wall is your dog artwork on? Tell me below!#muckypupphotography
Let’s play a game! I have been busy in the studio this weekend getting this wall painted- it’s going to have a second coat soon but I LOVE the colour. 😍Game time- can you guess in the comments which one’s a lie? Comment the number and I will let you know… soon. 😉#muckypupphotography
Did you know that it’s not just pets I photograph? Behind every amazing pet, is an equally amazing human that makes up one half of the most beautiful relationship on earth. The bond between a dog and their human is so incredibly special. We’ve all experienced the distinct joy that sharing our lives with dogs brings - there’s really nothing like it. So, being able to capture that bond and immortalise it in a photograph is a very special gift that I’m able to give to my clients. If you share your life with a special dog and want to celebrate that relationship with beautiful images, but you’re not sure on how to go about it or feel uncomfortable with being photographed- please drop me a message. I can talk you through how I make my sessions both comfortable for dogs and humans and we can discuss the photography style you’re looking for. I can’t wait to help you with capturing your special moments with your dogs. Their lives are so short, let’s make the most of that time together with memories that will last a lifetime. 🐾 #muckypupphotography
There’s two sides to every story…Just like there’s two sides to every pet photo taken! 😂I had so much fun with this reel - seeing things from the dogs’ perspectives is really something! (good or bad? - I’ll let you decide 🙈🤣)It’s weird, but I find myself smiling at and having full blown conversations with my dog models when taking photos of them - do you smile at your pet when you try and take a photo too? I think it’s just the natural thing to do! Tell me your favourite way to get your dog to look at the camera in the comments below. 👇

I absolutely love the act of photographing dogs (who wouldn’t enjoy cwtches with puppies), but I find the editing side so rewarding too…I love getting stuck in and lost for a couple of hours on an image, making it perfect for you to see the end result. Here’s a little Timelapse as a glimpse into my process - obviously sped up so you can see! 😂 Excuse my fidgeting (I didn’t realise I moved so much 🙈). How much time on average do you think it takes to edit a photo? Guess in the comments below!
Why you should think about choosing me as your dog photographer:It’s kind of a given, but I love dogs (actually, I love all animals, but dogs are pretty special);I have an abundance of patience when working with animals;I’m a perfectionist when it comes to the details;I have over 10 years experience of photographing dogs;I’ve achieved multiple awards for my pet photography;I have a pet first aid certificate;I’m pretty approachable and I’m a good listener - we’ll talk about all sorts at our session;I’m always open to new ideas and will happily experiment if you’ve got a vision for your session;I have a studio, which is perfect for the clean, modern and stylish look; But, I’m happy to get muddy (and often soaking wet) on a location session too;My clients usually turn into really good friends - I think it’s the mutual love of dogs. ❤️What do you look for in a photographer? Puppy sessions in the studio are always the perfect blend of chaos, cuteness and cuddles! These Italian Greyhound puppies came in with their parents for a family portrait before they left to their new homes and new adventures ❤️ I’m sure we can all agree that they are ridiculously adorable (I may have wanted to take one home with me 🥰). Stay tuned for the end result of their studio session, coming soon!#muckypupphotography
I love taking photos, but I also love getting engrossed in the editing.A lot of the time I’m not entirely sure where an editing session may take me. I may have a rough idea in mind, but I tend to see the editing phase of photography as a journey, which is bespoke to each individual dog and photograph. Where I go in that journey depends on the mood, the light and the feel I get when I look at the image on the screen. I’m a bit of a perfectionist and sometimes it can take me hours to finish one photo to a vision that I’m happy with…this shot of Florrie may have been one of those times, but I honestly couldn’t tell you how long it took - time seems to go in slow motion when I get absorbed into the editing world. Let me know what you think of this edit in the comments. #muckypupphotography
A little Friday Feel Good reel from me - beautiful artwork ready to go to my client. Acrylics are a super popular choice for studio images as the colours really pop with that glossy finish. I always check every piece of artwork before it leaves my studio - it needs to be 100% right, and I need to be totally happy with the quality. I work with fantastic suppliers so this is never an issue, but it’s always important to check. When Sindy, Juno & Lheeah’s owners came to collect their artwork, they were absolutely thrilled - I can’t wait to see pictures of it up on the walls. Do you have any photos of your pets on display in your home? Tell me in the comments!
