Welcoming our newest membership service via Collar for our dog day care users.

This is the first of its kind!

For those of you that have your dog in our day care with us on a regular basis. This is just the package for you!

With weekly invoicing and guaranteeing your slot within the ranks of day care.

You will need to select your chosen dates and times (which will be prompted on application), these will then be booked by the team until you give notice on your membership ending.

Please be aware there is a 30-day cancellation period on all memberships.

Also, if you don’t use within the period, you will lose it rather than being stored.

Discount has been applied to all membership pricing as our way of saying thank you for your custom.

Any questions, please contact us directly through your Collar profile, failing that pop in and see us.

Think I counted just over 15 dogs.

To everyone that has been asking about Poppy, she has recovered well and has returned to her gobby ways.

We pride ourselves in what we do here ❤️

The induction part of our Indoor Dog Day Care is one of the most important parts to not only go well but, to get the right outcomes for all involved.

Our induction consists of around a 45 minute play period to allow for your dog to get used to their new environment, to get used to us (as humans) and go at their own pace (Very Important!).
Not every dog gets the ✅️ however, these are normally for big red flags for us and are always explained at length after the session has been completed.

Once the induction is complete, a team member will advise the dogs parents on the next steps on what we think they need for their next booking in our day care. Some dogs need only an hour - with progressing to longer stays in mind.
Others fit in straight away and can utilise every service.

We can host 2 inductions in a day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Safe to say today's induction went very well !!

Today we’ve been on a road trip to Kent to get Louise’s eyes tested and we are pleased to say that her eyes are perfect!

Clinically unaffected for:

HC - Hereditary Cataract
PRA - Progressive Retinal Atrophy
RPED - Retinal Pigment Epithelial Dystrophy
MRD - Multifocal Retinal Dysplasia
TRD - Total Retinal Dysplasia

This is fantastic news and we couldn’t be happier!

Now time to book the hips & elbows!

If we are comfortable with her hips and elbows, then we will have the Breeding Endorsement lifted by our breeder and then….locate a perfect stud!!! ❤️

The big announcement we had under our hat for sometime but we haven't been able to officially announce it until the agreements were in place.

We are now proud to announce that we officially are working as community partnership with Help For Heroes.

As you can imagine, this charity is close to my heart as can be.
As a veteran, they have pulled me out of the rut I was finding myself in after leaving the Army.
They’ve supported me to get back on track and help me navigate my way back into being a civilian again.

We (as a business) have put a financial target in place to be able to raise.

With much discussion, I have been able to agree that every Big Social Meet moving for the next 12 months will be in support of this amazing charity. There will be a change box at every event and there will be other methods you can donate in our reception in the unit.

We will be hosting other significant dates in our diaries, but they are still in the planning stages at the moment.

I am so proud of having them as a charity, their support and backing at every stage.

I have created a Just Giving page which the link will at the bottom for this.

There are so many veterans out there that have fought for the country you live in today. To ensure we are safe at the troubles stays put.

Myself, my team and everyone associated with Ry’s will know that this is a massive step for us at a business and getting them the support that they need to keep helping veterans.

It falls on an amazing day to do this too!

June's Puppy Course starts tomorrow!

The Puppy Course is designed for puppies 6 months and under.

The whole course is run from our Newport Location and is for 4 weeks every Tuesday evening.

Winnie and I want to thank you Ryan for our four week puppy classes. Winnie started off very shy but has definitely come out in herself and was more than happy to interact with the other dogs. You made the training fun and made me realise how much we as owners need to listen more and the dogs will follow. Thank you again and see you soon for doggy day care 😘

Wow. What. A. Weekend.

Friday's water themed day care proved to be hilarious. More photos on the day community page.

Saturdays Birthday party for our Ezra. Lots of tired dogs and smiling owners leaving the building.

And today.. our very own Big Social Meet. We all met behind Yaverland Car Park and walked up and took in the views andcaughth our breath.

We think this describes what will be happening on Friday. Don’t worry we have plenty of towels on hand for this!

For bookings, please head over to your Collar App as per and look for the Fun Day Friday option within the day care tab. If your dog is not inducted with us, then please head over the induction tab and book that one in.

*Side note A, our shop is open from 1100- 1300 as we have a dog birthday party going on.

*Side note B, please remember that we have a Bank Holiday coming up on Monday, so we are closed. Tee shirt tans and cider in the beer garden is in order!

*Side note C, Big Social Meet is happening this Sunday coming. We are meeting on the green behind the large carpark in Yaverland. We will be meeting at 2pm and depending on the tide is dependent on the route. If the weather is warm, then that will be taken into consideration too. This does not need booking, but it would be great if you could let us know on the event on Facebook.

Good Morning all!! Things are going great here at Poppy’s Playground. To ensure our service is consistent we are making some minor adjustments.

We essentially need more time to plan for our staff and their rota. Our calendar is constantly hotting up and we need to make sure that we are not chasing our tails. 🐶

Currently, we are open to ‘on the day’ bookings – this is now changing to 36 hours prior to your request. Whilst this may cause problems for some, we need to ensure the staffing is right day to day. Emergency bookings will be absorbed as much as we can.

We already have services that can help if you do need ‘same day’ bookings, but they are always limited to our availability on the day. That service is called Ry’s Shop and Drop. It allows you to go for coffee, in town and leave your dog with us. You can also leave the car with us in our parking spaces (free parking in Newport).

From the 23rd of June 2024, these changes will be made, which is the last day of Isle of Wight Festival. With the traffic state on the island, most of the staff in attendance, we have decided to close for the Isle of Wight Festival. The team here obviously have good taste in music and some well needed R & R.

Please book through Collar in the usual places.

Was flicking through some of my memories and found this picture. Couldn't resist not posting and telling you all about it. 😁

For any of you that have watched the 'Tuesday live' sessions, you may recognise the flag behind me.

This was my third tour of Afghan and I cheekily wrote to the club and asked if they could send me out a flag and potentially a few of the players signatures. As always Aston Villa delivered. Very tired but happy boy when that came in the mail. The dog in the picture was my Belgian Malinois called Oslo.
A different chapter in my life that I am extremely proud of.

Good Afternoon everyone, just a small update on some of the stock we host in our shop.

For those that don’t know, the big green pet store & the big red pet store that sits opposite us, now does not stock Paleo Ridge Raw Dog Food . We stock Paleo Ridge in its entire stock, if we don’t have it in stock, we can then pre order for you. We can even put together the hampers you see online.

Regarding Natures Menu – the freezer is fully stocked, and we have noticed that we are slightly cheaper than the other two other larger pet stores around.

We always have said support local stores when you can. It keeps us ticking over and improving our services.

All our products are stored inside freezers, therefor you don’t need to worry about collecting it on the day as we have space to store for you. (Storage maybe limited)

We are open Mon – Fri – 0715 – 1800. If you are struggling to get to us during the week, then please get in touch and we can help you out where we can. We are looking to make time slots for collections during the weekend.

We also, provide vast amounts of knowledge in RAW feeding so if you are new to coming over to RAW and need some help/ tips and tricks, we are your people!

To compliment our stock, we also host natural treats and herbal remedies.

Good Afternoon everyone.

The team are now all back together. Ryan has returned from his holiday refreshed and recharged… ish.

We have had the bank holiday and now the weather appears to be on the up.

Just to let you know we have one or two spots left on this month’s puppy course.

This month’s puppy course starts on the 9th of May and starts at 1830. We shall be meeting at our dog unit location in Newport for each of the evening sessions. This course is designed for puppy’s under 6 months of age.

A massive thank you to all that turned out today.

Around 20 dogs walked the route round Carisbrooke Castle today. Not a bad turn out considering there were a few other dog events going on around the island today.

I'd love for us to start reaching the average attendance of around 30 again. Have to be honest, hasn't been the same since after COVID.

Keep your eyes peeled for next months date and location.

Search, Search and a little more... fun !! 🥎

I have been working on teaching Louise the very basics of how to search indoors, bearing in mind I haven't taught or conducted Search since my last tour in Afghanistan in 2013.

This evening, Louise had a go at outdoors and in a familiar place to her.

I'm pleased with how she is progressing and the fact that she absolutely loves learning and new challenges.

Im sure I'll keep you all up to date as to how she's getting on.

Very important if your dog is with us on day care.
