Deeb is a sensitive TB mare who can try a little too hard to please and gets a bit carried away with herself!
She needs riding subtly with lots of small adjustments to help her understand the request without feeding her too much information or overdoing the aids. Luckily she has found her rhythm in trot which gives us a reliable base to return to and we are getting close in the canter too.
Good team work and an open line of communication are key for both Deeb from Charlie and Charlie from me.
Cedric is growing that canter: A combination of confidence, warming up and trusting in his body, trust in me, plus some leadership to persuade him that exercise is more than just ‘hard work’!
With Storm trying out the bitless bridle, he was much more relaxed and more forgiving as he and Nigel further get to know each other.
A happier more settled Sienna is returning to her former self.
A bit of fun for Katie and Gem at the end of their lesson yesterday. Lots of build up and prep to give them the best chance of holding canter through the bending poles.
Ada Mae plodding away, relaxed and happy on her ride out yesterday.
Oden dropping into the woods after the sun had made an appearance.
1 ride with many different seasons today on Oden around Skidby bridlepath.
Hail, rain, wind, glorious sunshine, enormous amounts of heavy traffic, temporary traffic lights, main road crossings, stubble, grass canters and banks to drop down or climb and a complete superstar he was too 🥰.
Romy enjoying the round route towards Lockington from South Dalton today on his solo hack.
Little Jim on his best behaviour yesterday, relaxing into his trot work.
Stubble field heaven tonight for Seren and I.
Canter was so much stronger today with Justa, showing more of a clear rhythm even with me sat. Upwards transitions into canter were also drastically improved, helped along by some shoulder in immediately pop prior to asking.
Working on lengthening Oden’s frame in the canter last week.
Harley was relaxed for his schooling session yesterday. He is generally a lot happier and less reactive with all his former behavioural issues a distant memory.
He still has weaknesses physically and we are working continually to build strength in the right way alongside his vet and physio appointments, in order to keep Harley comfortable, happy and under saddle.
A nice snort, I mean walk, around Great Hatfield with Velvet this morning to kick the week off!
