September Gastroscope Clinic
There are some places left for our clinic on the 25th September. Our gastroscope clinic is discounted by 50% compared to the usual yard rate.
Please watch the video above demonstrating how the use of a 3m long flexible endoscope can definitively diagnose the presence of ulcers.
Remember gastric ulcers are common and can present themselves in a variety of different ways, with some signs being very subtle and easily missed. Symptoms can include:
• Poor performance
• Changes in behaviour
• Recurrent colic
• Weight loss/failure to maintain condition
• Discomfort when tacking up or being ridden.
If diagnosed horses can be effectively treated and usually return to happy healthy horses/ponies. Management and feeding regimes can be adapted to then help prevent reoccurrence.
If you would like any further information or if you think your horse may have ulcers please do not hesitate to call us on 01963251772.
New gastroscope in action
We took delivery of our new gastroscope yesterday and it has already scoped 2 horses! It is a really fantastic bit of kit and it is going to be such a help to have it on the team. The video attached shows the pyloric region of one of these horses and you can see a large chronic region of glandular ulceration near the pylorus. Treatment is underway.
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence! Mare and foal enjoying the sunshine this morning.
