Cat owners, are your cats microchipped? If not, you need to get then 'chipped' - If they are, make sure the information on the chip is up to date?

Obviously, you must love animals of all shapes and sizes, looking after them and delivering exceptional service that we have become renowned for.

​Naturally, you must be physically fit and happy to work outdoors in absolutely all weather conditions.

​You will need excellent time-keeping skills and have a positive, happy disposition.

​We need you to be good at communicating with us via mobile phone and specific apps, as well as confident communicating with animals and understanding their behaviour.

​You must have a full driving licence and fully-insured car with up to date tax & MOT.

​You must be honest, reliable and trustworthy and be willing to provide an up to date DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

One of our walking team just rescued these gorgeous two dogs from Highlands Road / Catsfield Road.

No collars or tags so we have dropped them both at RSPCA Solent Branch (formerly Stubbington Ark).

Hopefully they will have microchips with up to date owner contact details.

One of our new clients, Kenzie, was a bit cheeky the other day and asked if we could pet sit his giraffe...

To be on the safe side we took care of 'Gerald' for him whilst we phoned his mum to check, only to be told he was trying to hoax us we reverted to our puppy visit.

Kenzie wasn't impressed that he'd been rumbled.

One of the ways we keep your dogs safe - We Don't Throw Sticks - however much they may ask...

🐶 Stick to safety!

We're reminding dog owners to be aware of the dangers sticks can pose to their pets following the recent case of River, who had to undergo Specialist surgery with us due to injuries caused by a stick.

Following a walk, her owners noticed that River, a lovely five-year-old crossbreed, had picked up a stick in the right side of her mouth. She managed to break it and appeared to have removed it herself, but later the same day started being sick. She then became lethargic, went off her food and developed a fever.

After being referred to us, a CT scan revealed she had, in fact, swallowed some of the stick, which had then perforated her stomach wall and embedded itself in her abdominal wall.

Following Specialist surgery and hospitalisation with us, River has recovered well from her stick ordeal!

If you're sitting in an office and perhaps your air conditioning (if you have it) is not managing to keep you entirely comfortable, then please ignore this post...

Cassie really enjoyed cooling off in the stream this morning on an early walk at Meon.

It's likely to be a scorcher of the coming days so please try to take your dogs out for walks early.in the morning or in the evening, when the sun isn't so intense, if your dog is a bit chubby or older, perhaps snub-nosed like a Cavalier, Frenchie or Boxer, then it might be best not to take them out at all. The coming heat can easily put them in extreme difficulties very quickly.

We always carry loads of water with us and reduce the pace a lot when it gets warm, sticking close to water so they can cool down and staying in shade a lot of the time, too. When it gets proper hot, we offer home visits to ensure they are safe, are able to relieve themselves, and replenish water for them instead of having them endure heat they might not be able to handle.

Adder Alert!!

We've just spoken to a dog owner whose working cocker spaniel was bitten by an adder at Whiteley Woods this morning.

It was basking in the sun at the side of one of the main tracks and the inquisitive spaniel disturbed it. Thankfully quick attendance at a vet for anti-venom and rest, the dog will be fine.

Please be careful if walking in this area or similar locations.

This is the first adder bite we've been made aware of at this popular walking spot.

It's that time of year again...adders are awakening and inquisitive dogs (or just unlucky ones, being in the wrong place at the wrong time) can get a bite.

Be vigilant, ideally avoiding known hot spots but if you do have an unfortunate encounter, follow the advice below...this vet provides the canine first aid training that ALL our team complete before we let them walk your dogs. If YOU want to be better prepared for dealing with injuries, etc. then do the course yourself....use code 'holtypaws' at check out to receive a discount, too!
