PAAG is made up of 26 animal welfare organisations, trade associations and veterinary bodies, all working together for one mission: To combat the irresponsible advertising of pets for sale, rehoming and exchange online, by making online pet advertising safer and more responsible🙌

PAAG aims to ensure that pets advertised online are done so legally and ethically, and works tirelessly to improve the regulation of online pet advertising by:

🤝Working with the UK’s largest classified websites to help them implement our government backed Advertising Standards on their platforms

💻Providing guidance on how to advertise, sell and buy pets responsibly online

📣Raising awareness on the need to act responsibly so future pet parents do their homework before bringing a companion home

🚩Educating the public on how to spot suspicious pet ads

🐭Mice to meet you🐁

Thinking about adding some tiny, whiskered friends to your family? Mice might just steal your heart – they're super smart, full of personality and endless curiosity!😝

As with any pet, there is lots to consider before welcoming them home:

🏠Home sweet home: Mice love company, they're happiest living with at least one (or a few!) well-matched buddies, in a spacious indoor setup filled with fun stuff to explore – think hammocks, rope ladders, tunnels and hides. Mix things up every so often to keep their little minds active and happy!💨

🐾Hide and squeak: Every mouse should have their own hiding spot (plus a few extras). They love nesting, burrowing, and tunnelling, so the more cosy corners, the better🌝

✋Don’t forget to double check your mice’s s*xes before bringing them home. Misidentified mice can lead to unexpected (and very big) litters!

🐽Guinea pigs🐾

Guinea pigs are social animals who depend on a piggy pal for safety, comfort and chatter – they have a huge vocabulary of squeaks and squeals🔊

They’re also bundles of energy, needing plenty of space to express their natural behaviours, plus constant access to a cosy, secure shelter to snooze in💤

Their home should protect them from the cold, damp, heat and against predators like foxes.

Guinea pigs LOVE nothing more than to pig out!🌿Eating a nutritious herbivore diet plays a big role in keeping them happy and healthy, and takes up a very big percentage of their day⌛

When they are truly happy you will often see them ‘popcorn’ which is an adorable leap of happiness into the air!💥

🐟Fishy fact: Did you know goldfish can live for more than 20 years and need a large tank/pond to feel really comfortable?

They are not just a starter pet, our finned friends deserve a life that’s long, healthy, and happy!🐡

🌊 Good water quality is essential: it’s vital to test the water quality regularly – remember untreated tap water is toxic for fish!🛑

🔎Always buy from experienced sellers who know their stuff: A good seller will ask questions – if they don’t, swim away fast!🚣

Don’t forget enrichment! Whether you’re caring for cold water pond fish, tropical fish, or marine life, give them things to explore. A stimulating environment is key! ⛵

✨Chinchilla Care✨

Chinchillas are active, social animals who naturally live in wild colonies!

To keep them happy and healthy:
They need the companionship of at least one other well-matched chinchilla – ideally in same s*x pairs or neutered mixed groups👯
As herbivores, their diet should include constant access to good quality green hay, dried plants/herb mix and dry nuggets, and a small amount of fresh veg like broccoli🌿This is vital for preventing dental disease!
They thrive in spacious indoor enclosures🐾
🌜Being nocturnal, chinchillas sleep during the day

💡Top tip: Always double-check your chinchilla's gender with a vet, mistakes are common and can lead to unexpected litters!

🐥Chick, chick, chick, chick, chickensss!🐔

They are very curious little characters, each with their own quirky personalities!✨

Here are some cluck-tastic facts:
🐣Most chickens are laying hens (female) - only they lay eggs🥚
🐓A single cockerel (male chicken) may also be kept as part of the flock
🏡Like all pets, chickens need the right sized coop with both indoor and outdoor space to keep them safe, healthy and happy
🥗Their diet matters! Their main food should be pellets or mash, as well as access to poultry grit. They certainly will not turn down fresh green vegetables as well as seeds, corn and dried mealworms, but these should be given as tasty treats
⏳Depending on the breed, chickens can live 4 – 12 years
👪Chickens are social birds! They should always live in groups – at least a trio (or more)
