Pot holes, road planings required.

Our access road is full of pot holes. As you are aware we are owned and managed by Carla Lane Animals in Need and all our profits are used at the sanctuary for the care of the lovely animals there.

Does anyone have any contacts where we can get a number of tonnes of road planings to fill the pot holes please on our access road!

Thank you

To everyone who acted to protect their dog by securing their exemption in time - well done and thank you, you have made them safe ❤️

BUT WHAT COMES NEXT? How do you KEEP them safe?

This post is not intended to frighten or scaremonger BUT we must make sure that as responsible owners of exempted dogs we are all aware of what is required of us from now on. It would be horrific for someone to go to the trouble of exempting their dog and doing everything right, only to find themselves breaching their exemption and exposing their dog and others to risk!

PLEASE CONSIDER THE FACT THAT EXEMPTED DOGS WILL BE UNDER THE MICROSCOPE MORE THAN EVER. Rightly or wrongly, there is little chance of any leeway for an exempted dog who makes a mistake behaviourally - remember they are now already classed as a “dangerous dog” for the purposes of the law. Do not put your dog in a position where you know something could go wrong!

This includes situations such as:

*when children are visiting
*when opening the front door for deliveries
*when you put out the bins
*when a piece of equipment breaks
*when moving in and out of a vehicle
*when you are distracted by something else
*when visiting a vet/doggie shop/park or other facility with other dogs around
*when employing a dog walker or groomer
*when someone else is caring for your dog
*when your third party insurance is due
*when you move house
*when you go on holiday
*when your dog is allowed into the garden

PLAN AHEAD!
*install safety gates
*crate train your dog
*use a lead indoors if need be
*carry a spare muzzle, collar and harness
*speak about what is needed to keep your dog safe and obtain written agreements that confirm people caring for your dog have read and will adhere to their conditions of exemption
*use a car crate and seatbelt lock
*always use two points of contact
*diarise for two months and then a month from the date your insurance renewal is due
*notify DEFRA if you move house
*check your microchip details are up to date regularly
*supervise your dog and check gates and fences are secured EVERY TIME before they are allowed into your back garden

Remember that things can go wrong inside the home as well as outside! Dogs knock children over, and no bite need occur for an offence to be committed and your dog seized. Private places can become public places when someone has a legal right to access them - this includes workmen, delivery drivers, cleaners etc.

Your dog’s exemption conditions are non-negotiable and apply at all times.

Please don’t let your dog, yourself or anyone else down now.

As long as you remain vigilant and responsible and stick to all of the requirements of exemption, as well as general good ownership, you and your dog can continue to have happy lives where no one is placed at risk.

YOU MADE THEM SAFE 🙏🏼❤️ PLEASE KEEP THEM SAFE!

GIVE A POUND TO SAVE A POUNDIE!
As you know we are owned and managed by Carla Lane Animals in Need. Our main purpose is to raise vital funds to help run the sanctuary. We are in the middle of a dog crisis, many healthy, beautiful dogs are being put to sleep in the pound as their 7 days are up and there is no where for them to go. We are desperately trying to save as many as we can such as Petal, Ricky, Sadie and Butch that we have coming to us. It all costs money and we are asking if you could add a pound or even 50 pence on to each nights boarding to go towards rescuing as many poundies as we can. We have got amazing supporters, we wouldn't be able to continue without you, thank you so much.

We hate having to tell you that we can't fit your lovely dogs in. Please book early. We are taking bookings for 2024 now. Kennel cough is rife this year, we are reminding you that we are highly recommending that all dogs staying with us should be vaccinated against it. Ideally this should be some weeks before they arrive to allow for immunity to develop. Please take advice from your vets. Thanks

Come along and help support our Rescue and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea ☕🍰.

Moss Cottage Retreat

Moss Cottage Retreat is a vision created by renowned registered charity Carla Lane Animals in Need. Having worked to save the lives of dogs and other animals for over 30 years, CLAIN knew that one of the worries faced by owners once they had adopted their perfect partner was the stress of finding people they could trust to take care of them when they had to go away. So many boarding horror stories mean that owners are reluctant to leave their precious dogs with anyone other than family or friends, but we know from experience that that’s not always possible or practical. With that in mind, Moss Cottage Retreat was designed to offer dogs and owners peace of mind and reassurance by reflecting the exceptional standards of care and compassion which are the cornerstone of the CLAIN philosophy. Our dedicated staff who have been trained within the CLAIN ethical framework are able to provide round-the-clock care for dogs in a stunning boarding facility where all profits are fed back into the rescue to help dogs who don’t yet have the luxury of a forever home with owners who love them.

We pride ourselves on making the dogs our number one priority, and our luxurious kennels set in a peaceful rural environment mean that we can offer dogs and owners an experience which takes some of the stress out of their separation. In everything that we do, the happiness, safety and wellbeing of our dogs are our primary considerations and those values are what makes Moss Cottage Retreat stand out from other boarding businesses. Every time your dog stays with us, you can relax knowing that they are safe and sound with the added feel-good factor of knowing that your boarding fee helps CLAIN to save another life. Contact us to see how Moss Cottage Retreat can take the worry out of having to leave your dog behind.
