We had fun with the guys from LINk YMCA Lisburn.
Lots of helpers feeding and grooming the animals and then we made a bird feeder to hang up.
Looking forward to having them back for a picnic next time.

This is definitely worth a visit for anyone wanting to start their veg growing.
It’s such a lovely place and Jo is amazing. X
I’m delighted to be visiting to teach a Grow-your-own workshop (From Seed to Scrumptious) on Friday 12th April. 🧑🌾
Together we will learn how to grow food from seed - trust me, there is nothing more satisfying! 😊🥬 🥕
We’ll discuss where, and how, to buy the best quality seeds. Ways to sow seeds to produce happy and healthy seedlings. And how to make the most of your growing space - no matter how big or small - a window sill, garden or even allotment! 🪴
I will of course be demonstrating one of my favourite growing tasks - how to make soil blocks - the perfect medium for growing seedlings! You can all have a go! I’ve perfected my recipe and technique so you can get it right first time, and give your seedlings the best start! 🌱
You’ll leave with a pot of sown salad leaf seeds to nurture - before enjoying some delicious salad over the summer months! 🥗
I love to talk all things growing so very happy to field all your individual questions on the night! 🤓
I can’t wait to meet some of you very soon! 😊
Until then,
Jo 🌱

Easter 🐇 cuteness alert
Well Spring has firmly Spring with the first baby Mammal to come through the doors...
This little Leveret, who is actually around 10days old already going by it's weight, was picked up by well meaning walkers at Alder Grove, thinking it had been abandoned as there were no adults around.
Baby Hares are very different from rabbits.. they are born fully fitted, eyes open, up and hopping about and even nibbling at solid green leaves virtually right away..
2 to 3 babies are born and they do NOT have to be together. They can be scattered around a field area..
Mum will drop in 2 or 3 times a day to check on them and feed them her milk.. outside that time they are on their own and will sit quietly in a 'Form' (a little arch of crass buried in the vegetation)
It's very important of you are in areas known to have hares living there, countryside, farmland, mountains, Belfast Hills etc.. please keep all your dogs on a lead. Free running dogs cause massive disturbance to not only the Hares but nearing ground birds. Dogs risk lifting baby Hares and taking them away from their Forms,
Chasing away the parents..
Please be vigilant and aware of the nature around you so these babies can stay with their mum's who do a way better job than we can ever do... :)
If you find a baby bunny/rabbit out on a walk and aren't sure which it is and what's the best to do, please send a photo before ever touching them. We can identify which it is and whether it needs to be picked up or it's actually fine to be left on its own.
If you would like to help support the continued daily work keeping us on the road to get to the rescue calls, help provide food and external heating for all the wildlife coming in you can use PayPal and send a donation to the below email address ,

Abit of a plea...
We are searching for a dog run,(must be a minimum of 6ft wide and6ft- 8ft long so it might be trimmed down and reattached to fit the space required.. ) similar to that in the image below.. panels that can be put together and potentially cut down to fit a set space..
Maybe you have one in the garden your not using anymore that you might be happy to donate??
We need to get a metal framed pen to fit in the back of the hospital shed. This will house larger animals such as Badgers, foxes, swans etc that need to be kept under a heat lamp...it can be kept relatively empty and allows us to put in various housing to suit whatever species needs it at that time. It needs to be metal so mammals cannot chew out and damage the structure etc.
If you might be able to help or know someone who has mentioned having an old dog run they must get rid of and is in good enough shape please think of us.
Help much appreciated..

The pressure was on for the chicks and hen to perform. Genius little fundraiser organised by a keen PTA group. Guess the numbered square where the chicken/chicks will poo! The kids loved it 🤣
The Little farmers and their families that visited the farm today enjoyed a bit of sun 🎉 as they planted sunflowers and made a natural bird feeder to take home. They had fun meeting all the animals, feeding, holding and grooming them. Thank you for coming. We keep our groups small so our visitors have a real hands on experience with the animals and they have the space and freedom to enjoy our space. If you have a group that would enjoy a private booking please DM for details. X #naturelovers #carefarm #countryliving #naturecrafts #littlefarmers #forestschool

These were the clips where we were all concentrating on whittling our Hares ( mine still looks like a ET and a frog had a love child) but everyone else’s looked amazing thanks to James guiding us through the steps. Our Workshop weekend was sold out this time so keep an eye out for our April dates. We are passionate about teaching and passing on skills, encouraging people to take a break from the business of their lives and come enjoy some peace in the country side or a bit of banta in the barn. We’re relaxed, we’re rustic and we’d love to see you at our next workshop weekend x #whittling #carving #countrylife #workshops #carefarm #pettingfarm

Oh the geese just love to check out what’s happening and be part of the action. Love them ❤️ #carefarm #geese #pettingfarm #farmlife
I love that our little farm feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere yet it’s just up the road from the village. We’re enjoying this quiet, tranquil time of year before the excitement of Spring arrives.
Lots of cleaning and maintenance goes on at this time of year at the farm which can be hard work. I try and pause every now and then to appreciate life, people, nature or a view even if it is while I’m on the roof! Here I was trying to work out how I was going to shimmy myself off the roof in one piece. #carefarm #carefarming #smallholding #countryliving #countrylife #naturelovers #nature #gardeninglife #gardening
Oops accidentally on purpose treated myself to this from @fieldgateflowers 😉 Our Sunflower Field was such a delight and pleasure to grow last year and along with it a lot of learning, healing and goat wrestling too. So we are excited to begin 2024 with a guided plan to hopefully be successful in growing enough cut flowers to share with our local community and friends. If it all goes pear shaped we’ll stick to sunflowers and dandelions. Hard to beat those two beauties. #cutflowers #farmlife #countrylife #countryliving #carefarm #carefarming #socialfarmsandgardens
We have been planning an exciting program of events and workshops for 2024, we can’t wait to get started! Why not buy a voucher for a family member or friend for Christmas and give them an experience instead of a gift that lets face it will probably get regifted 😆 Or treat yourself to learning a new skill in the new year. Gift vouchers can be used for any event, workshop, farm experience or mobile farm party. The workshops in the pipeline so far: Family Whittling Workshop - 13th January Wood carving - Spoon making workshop - 20th January Alpaca Experience - Meet and greet our alpacas and have a little dander with them. Alpaca Fleece craft workshop. Nature craft workshops Bushcraft workshop Wreath making workshops Foraging workshop Open events are seasonal and include Summer sunflower fest and Autumn Festival. DM for more details ###
A star is born! Whoop whoop. An easy rustic star made for the top of the tree. Rather on the large side so I might make a smaller one and hang this one somewhere else. The more the merrier and twigs are free 🎉 #homemadechristmas #farmlife #farm #countryliving #handmade #naturelovers
Toffee has been trying on different outfits for the animals Christmas party coming up soon. 🎄 They are all getting so excited x #goatlife #goatkids #farminglife #farming #carefsrm #socialfarm #socialfarming #socialfarmingireland #christmasspirit
Who’s that hiding under there? Toffee ❤️ Tis the season to get warm and cosy and eat some hay. If you’re a goat that is. #carefarm #carefarming #smallholding #countryliving #countrylife #naturelovers #nature #gardeninglife #gardening #goat #goatkids
I bought myself a gun! Ok hands down it was only glue gun! There’s definitely a glue gun culture out there and I’m all in! Never in a million years did I ever think I’d get so much pleasure out of sticking pieces of dried orange together 🤷♀️ So beware if you come too close to me I might have the urge to glue something onto you. So far I’ve accidentally glued myself to the table twice! Didn’t learn the first time. I’ve had to order more glue already so it’s safe to come by until they arrive. Be assured no animals or children have been glued. Yet!
Our theme this year is simply homemade. Shabby chic without the chic 😁 We don’t have a colour scheme and nothing is coordinated but it’s not really about the end product. We have had fun together and our creative juices have been flowing. It can be as simple as tying ribbon on a pine cone, drying oranges or having fun with air drying clay. Have you made any homemade decorations yet? We’d love to see them x #carefarm #carefarming #smallholding #countryliving #countrylife #naturelovers #nature #gardeninglife #gardening #homemade
Rookie mistake! Think I may have over ordered garlic oops 🤣 I ordered 40 thinking I was getting 40 cloves not 40 bulbs containing 8 cloves 🙃 so I have 8x the amount! Have you planted yours yet? Still time 😊 Here’s to a very garlicky summer 2024 🎉 @bethelskitchen #carefarm #carefarming #smallholding #countryliving #countrylife #naturelovers #nature #gardeninglife #gardening #garlic
It was lovely to be part of this Bethlehem Experience at Holywood Baptist Church. Such lovely people and the animals were on their best behaviour. 🎉

𝓓𝓸 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓰𝓮𝓽 𝓪 𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓵 𝓒𝓱𝓻𝓲𝓼𝓽𝓶𝓪𝓼 𝓣𝓻𝓮𝓮? It’s a tradition for us to go in search for our Christmas tree. This year we went to a Christmas Tree Farm 🤎 We love the pine smell, the crisp air and the anticipation of Christmas. Usually we have fun attaching it onto the roof of the car but with only my 4 youngest at home now 😢 we were able to squeeze it into the Landy. X They were very thankful I didn’t dress up as an elf this year - photo included, that was a particular hard Christmas for us and I was clearly pulling out all the stops to try and lift their spirits. 🤣 #carefarm #carefarming #smallholding #countryliving #countrylife #naturelovers #nature #gardeninglife #gardening #christmas #christmastree
