Treatments & Prices
All prices are approximate and are only given as a rough guide - a definite price cannot be given until I have seen your dog and the condition of their coat and work & time involved. De-matting will incur further charges and is dependant on whether it is tolerable for your pet and the time it would take to remove the matts. In some instances the only option may be to clip the c

oat and start again. De-matting is painful for your dog and the law prevents any intentional discomfort to animals - see the five freedoms stated on the About Us page of my website (www.bootifulgrooms.co.uk). Nail trimming

Nail clip in between grooms.

£5-10

Bath & dry

Your pet will be brushed, bathed, dried and combed if necessary to ensure no knots remain in their coat. Available for short coated breeds or can be given as maintenance between full grooms for longer coated pets. Short coats such as Staffordshire Bull Terriers: from £18
Medium coats such as Shih-tzu's: from £23
Long coats such as Labradoodle's & Cockerpoo's: from £33

Trim & tidy up

In between grooms, your pet might only need their ears plucked or sanitary areas, face or feet tidied. From £10-£15

Full groom - Clip

Comprises of a bath, dry, nail clip, ear pluck or clean & a full coat clip. If you do not require styling work to be undertaken and would just like your pets' coat clipped in one length all over this may be suitable for you. Certain breeds should not be clipped as they haved double coats which usually only require a good brush to clear dead hair. Please ask if you are unsure whether a clip is suitable for your pet. Medium coats such as Shih-tzu's: from £27
Long coats such as Labradoodle's & Cockerpoo's: from £37

Full groom - Styled

A bath, dry, nail clip, ear pluck or clean & coat trim/style involving scissor work. Breed styling is by consultation but if you would like length and shape to your pets coat this option is for you. Medium coats such as Shih-tzu's: from £30
Long coats such as Labradoodle's & Cockerpoo's: from £40

Handstripping - by consultation

Handstripping is removal of dead hair from the coat by hand. The loose & dead hairs are plucked from the coat much like plucking eyebrows. This is generally suitable for wire haired breeds It can take a lot longer than an ordinary groom as it is fairly labour intensive - dependant on the size of the dog. If a dog has previously been clipped then its coat will probably not be suitable for handstripping.

£POA

Flea bath

Your dog will be bathed in a specialist flea shampoo to kill and remove fleas. While your dog is here, it is advisable to de-flea your house, car, and anywhere else that the dog has been to prevent re-infestation. After your dog has left I will need to deep clean & smoke bomb the grooming room to ensure all fleas are removed to prevent any other dogs picking them up. From £5 + bath or groom fee - dependent on prior notification that fleas are present. After fleas have been in the grooming environment, it must be deflea'd and adequately disinfected to ensure that fleas are not passed on, therefore flea baths should be scheduled in as the last groom of the day where possible. From a local Vet....
This tick has been hanging around for us to show people for a while. After months in a sealed container with no additional feeding she laid eggs. This gives you an idea of how long a tick can be dormant and how many eggs one female can lay. Remember ticks bloom again in the fall so keep up with prevention.

In this photo you see two species, a human and a canine. The human has approximately 1 billion neurons in their brain while the canine has appoximately 500 million. Now let me explain why all of us in the dog industry become extremely agitated on a daily basis. This is a comparison of the two species and the silly expectations people place on canines.
1) Human- Given two plus years to accomplish potty training.
1) Canine- Human wants canine potty trainined in two weeks or they will have to rehome the dog....Please take the diaper off your eight month old human and let them crawl around your floor, lets just see the results....
2) Human- Gives human babies pain relievers and various numbing agents to help appease the pain of teething.
2) Canine- Demands Dog Trainer tells them how to reprimand their dog for chewing.
3) Human- Encourages young humans to run and play with endless forms of mental and physical stimulation.
3) Canine- “I have got to teach this dog to calm down!!!”
4) Human- Given 20 plus years to complete an education and become a productive member of society.
4) Canine- Expected to behave flawlessly after 6 weeks of training.
5) Human- Given sick and personal days from work and endless excuses for poor performance.
5) Canine- Expects to perfom perfectly 365 days a year with no questions asked. Canines are also not allowed to feel bad or forget.
6) Human- Expects a pay raise anually for the job they perform.
6) Canine- Humans demand their dog perform more every year and don’t believe they should reward the dog for the work they perform.
Dear human....If you don’t train, don’t complain!

🇬🇧With an impending heat wave and seeing so many dogs still being walked during the day on the asphalt I thought it would be a good time to reshare warnings about the sun. I know I took my shoes off today when I saw some dogs walking and it burnt my feet within seconds I hate to think of their poor paw pads.

Heat Stoke is also a very real possibility below are many of the symptoms and if you suspect heat Stoke please call your vet immediately it really can kill and quickly.

🍚 Dogs do no not digest rice too well. White rice in particular has a high glycemic index, meaning it will cause a rapid spike in blood glucose levels. White rice is far too starchy to be part of any dogs diet, let alone when it is suffering GI tract inflammation.

🌾 When your dog is unwell or suffering from a stomach upset whether it's some form of vomiting, diarrhoea or IBS, it is essential to look at the diet as the first cause of the issue and also as the first point to help cure the problem. The most common occurrences of vomiting and diarrhea are from either something your dog has eaten or a food intolerance.

🍚 It's important that your dog gets onto a bland diet to help them recover from their gastrointestinal illness and the most common recommendation for a bland diet for a pet is boiled rice and chicken.
Rice is suggested as it's classed as a carbohydrate and therefore a starchy food that is supposed to help bind the stools together, reduces diarrhoea and not irritate the stomach, 𝐁𝐔𝐓..

🌾 White rice is probably one of the worst foods to feed your dog! Why?

🍚 White rice has very little nutritional or hydrating benefit for your dog. It's processed into sugar by the body. It's a refined carbohydrate which means it has been stripped of it's nutrition. It's been calculated that 97% of all white rice is genetically modified food.

🌾 Another option that's recommended is using brown rice instead of white as it has more nutritional value and takes longer to digest but a dog's digestive system hasn't been designed to digest rice in any form so the nutrients in brown rice aren't available to their body.

🍚 If you're dog is unwell, it's digestive system is already compromised so adding a hard to digest food into their diet at this stage is likely to cause more irritation and inflammation.

🌾 Your dog needs a clean, high quality diet that helps naturally replace lost fluids, electrolytes, nutrients, and helps them quickly recover. A species appropriate option to replace the 'traditional' suggestion of rice would be bone broth.
