Dating from medieval times, the perfectly pre
served houses cluster round its 13th century church and 16th century castle – a fairytale village indeed. One of these traditional, pretty homes is Bridge Cottage. As you might expect, it stands right beside the little arched bridge crossing the stream, which flows just over the wall from its enclosed, secluded and south facing garden. The exterior may be picture-book traditional but inside it has been refurbished to the very highest 21st century standards. The attractive, double height living area has exposed beams and the stone wall surrounding the fireplace, with it’s cosy wood burning stove, has also been exposed, adding to the cottages endearing character. Additionally on the first floor there is a well equipped modern kitchen, a w.c./ shower room and utility room, downstairs is the spacious and comfortable double bedroom. The unique charm of the village is epitomised in the village shop/café, which is set up in the proprietors living room (!) but the surrounding area is no less attractive, with miles of woodland paths to explore, and within a short walk, golden sandy beaches. Quaint fishing villages and excellent golf courses are nearby, not forgetting to mention the Spey Valley’s Malt Whisky Trail and the renowned Castle Trail. Both Aberdeen and Inverness airports are just an hours drive away, and for the keen angler the banks of the world famous River Spey are within a 20 minute drive. The Cairngorm National Park is under an hours drive away, offering unbeatable summer and winter recreation. Bed linen, towels, electricity and fire wood are all INCLUDED. Sorry, pets are not accepted and smoking is not permitted in the cottage.
