Lovely 9 year old Lurcher visited us this week for Vet Silvia to scale & polish her teeth under anaesthetic due to a build up of tartar which was leading to gingivitis or gum disease. 🦷 😍
Scaling & polishing under anaesthetic allows the vet to clean all the surfaces of every tooth including below the gum margin as well as too fully assess the whole oral cavity for soft tissue changes, tooth damage & gum recession or pocketing.
Over 85% of dogs over the age of three are affected by some degree of gum disease with smaller dogs & sight-hounds like Maggie more severely affected.
Now Maggie’s teeth are clean & sparkling it would be a great time to introduce daily tooth brushing 🪥
