Animal Action Our focus is purely our animals and making a future for them. This is why we founded Animal Action in June 1977 as a small, local, welfare group.

What we do:
The thousands of abandoned and stray animals wandering Britain every year are a national disgrace. Although the large animal welfare organisations do everything they can to help, many problems remain. Working under the supervision of a qualified veterinary surgeon, we rescue, foster, neuter (where appropriate) and find homes for abandoned and stray animals in our area, particularly dog

s and cats. How you can help:
To pay for food, veterinary treatment and the homing of these unwanted animals, we urgently need your help. No matter how carefully we budget, the problem is so large that outgoings always outweigh income. Even so, we have to carry on this work – which is why we need your support. No gift, donation or charitable contribution is too small!! Jumble and saleable items always needed
Good homes for dogs and cats always wanted

I HAVE THE VERY BEST NEWS EVERYONE. THANKS TO ALL YOUR CONCERNS, SHARES AND OTHER EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST, DARLING CHEENO HEADED OFF TO HIS NEW HOME AT THE WEEKEND. WITH HIS BLOOD PRESSURE UNDER CONTROL AND HIS NEW PEOPLE READY TO CATER TO HIS EVERY NEED, WE ARE THRILLED THAT HE IS NOW SETTLED TO ENJOY THE REST OF HIS LIFE IN A SAFE AND SHELTERED ENVIRONMENT. YOU ARE ALL WONDERFUL !! ANIMAL ACTION

Our first rescue of the year arrived in the form of a 15 year old, totally blind tabby and white boy who had been discovered sitting outside in a downpour of freezing rain in a lady's back garden. Long story short - here he is and Cheeno ticks every box for being the ultimate gentleman. He really is without fault. So much so that when the vet nurses were taking his blood pressure and bloods to establish the state of his health, it took them twice as long as it should because he kept head-butting them for cuddles or falling on his back with his legs in the air. They all adored him.

Cheeno is in good health and only displays the type of symptoms one would expect in a cat of his age. None of which require treatment at this stage. His blindness appears to have been caused by high blood pressure over a long period of time and he will require a tablet once a day for the rest of - what we hope will be - a long and happy life. As he pretty much eats anything you put in front of him, this really is not an issue !! He has found his way around his 2-storey, cat pen, uses his tray and loves his food.

In an ideal world Cheeno needs a home with a secure garden as he has been used to having outside access but that is not absolutely essential. He is desperately affectionate and appears quite fearless in his blindness. He will obviously need a home where furniture and food bowls, tray, etc. are located in a permanent spot so he can get to know exactly where they are as he can trot round quite fast and doesn't need to bang into objects. He does not appear to mind the presence of other cats in the Rescue but would need any existing cat to accept him quite readily because his blindness would render him easy to be bullied.

He is Mr. Perfect and whilst he is warm on his heat pad in a heated cat run, he just wants to be with people and we are very aware that he is getting depressed without human company.

Cheeno has been neutered and microchipped. Please do get in touch if you think he could be right as your next companion.
Even if you cannot offer him a home, will you please share this post far and wide with other rescues and friends to give him his best shot at moving forward as soon as possible
