Animal Action Our focus is purely our animals and making a future for them. This is why we founded Animal Action in June 1977 as a small, local, welfare group.
(8)

What we do:
The thousands of abandoned and stray animals wandering Britain every year are a national disgrace. Although the large animal welfare organisations do everything they can to help, many problems remain. Working under the supervision of a qualified veterinary surgeon, we rescue, foster, neuter (where appropriate) and find homes for abandoned and stray animals in our area, particularly dog

s and cats. How you can help:
To pay for food, veterinary treatment and the homing of these unwanted animals, we urgently need your help. No matter how carefully we budget, the problem is so large that outgoings always outweigh income. Even so, we have to carry on this work – which is why we need your support. No gift, donation or charitable contribution is too small!! Jumble and saleable items always needed
Good homes for dogs and cats always wanted

I HAVE THE VERY BEST NEWS EVERYONE. THANKS TO ALL YOUR CONCERNS, SHARES AND OTHER EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST, DARLING CHEENO HEADED OFF TO HIS NEW HOME AT THE WEEKEND. WITH HIS BLOOD PRESSURE UNDER CONTROL AND HIS NEW PEOPLE READY TO CATER TO HIS EVERY NEED, WE ARE THRILLED THAT HE IS NOW SETTLED TO ENJOY THE REST OF HIS LIFE IN A SAFE AND SHELTERED ENVIRONMENT. YOU ARE ALL WONDERFUL !! ANIMAL ACTION

Our first rescue of the year arrived in the form of a 15 year old, totally blind tabby and white boy who had been discovered sitting outside in a downpour of freezing rain in a lady's back garden. Long story short - here he is and Cheeno ticks every box for being the ultimate gentleman. He really is without fault. So much so that when the vet nurses were taking his blood pressure and bloods to establish the state of his health, it took them twice as long as it should because he kept head-butting them for cuddles or falling on his back with his legs in the air. They all adored him.

Cheeno is in good health and only displays the type of symptoms one would expect in a cat of his age. None of which require treatment at this stage. His blindness appears to have been caused by high blood pressure over a long period of time and he will require a tablet once a day for the rest of - what we hope will be - a long and happy life. As he pretty much eats anything you put in front of him, this really is not an issue !! He has found his way around his 2-storey, cat pen, uses his tray and loves his food.

In an ideal world Cheeno needs a home with a secure garden as he has been used to having outside access but that is not absolutely essential. He is desperately affectionate and appears quite fearless in his blindness. He will obviously need a home where furniture and food bowls, tray, etc. are located in a permanent spot so he can get to know exactly where they are as he can trot round quite fast and doesn't need to bang into objects. He does not appear to mind the presence of other cats in the Rescue but would need any existing cat to accept him quite readily because his blindness would render him easy to be bullied.

He is Mr. Perfect and whilst he is warm on his heat pad in a heated cat run, he just wants to be with people and we are very aware that he is getting depressed without human company.

Cheeno has been neutered and microchipped. Please do get in touch if you think he could be right as your next companion.
Even if you cannot offer him a home, will you please share this post far and wide with other rescues and friends to give him his best shot at moving forward as soon as possible

REHOMED THANKS TO YOUR EFFORTS !!!

Hi everyone
Seems like the autumn and winter present me with particular cats who, for some reason or other, don't really catch the imagination of potential owners. Therefore, I am back again to ask for your help in spreading the word about a pair of litter sisters who have not had a single enquiry; largely due to the fact that they are black and white and not ginger or tortie.

Star and Luna are always buzzing around with fun until they drop in an 8-legged heap, these girls are one year old and have been spayed and chipped.

Abandoned together in a cat carrier in a public park on a freezing morning, these two girls are lucky to be here as they were completely vulnerable to the elements, predators or horrible people. Fortunately, a good Samaritan could not walk by and leave them and so they duly arrived at the local Vet and thence to Rescue. Star has a blaze of white fur on her nose and this super pair of lovelies are very friendly and socialised. It is unlikely that they would worry about other cats and would probably relish older kids to play with. Not sure how they would react to toddlers but each case has its own merits
If you can help in any way to move these girls towards their new home, please email me at [email protected]
Thanks as always............
Sue

Hi everyone
Earlier this year I asked for your help to find a loving home together for Juno and Monkey. The post was shared extensively and has resulted in their finding the most lovely people to live with for the rest of their lives. Thank you all for doing it YET AGAIN
I think the photos say it all 🥰

Whilst I think about it, we also have a little darling called Poppy. Pretty Poppy is nearly 9 years’ old though you would never think it. Her personality matches her looks and she has a very sweet and loving nature. As Poppy originally lived alone with her elderly owner, she would prefer to be the only animal in an adult only household and is content as an indoor cat.
Poppy has been spayed and chipped.

Cannot believe it is over a year since I last asked you for help but here I am again with a couple of rescues that are proving difficult to place in a new home.
These two sweet boys are seeking a home together. Juno is a soft white lad of 2 years and Monkey is black and white, around 6 months and lives up to his name !! We suspect that Juno is Monkey’s Dad but have no way of proving it. Certainly, they rub along so nicely (as evidenced by Monkey jumping all over his poor Dad in one of the photos!), we will not separate them. Both have been neutered and chipped and are ready to move to pastures new. Juno is slightly reserved on first acquaintance but Monkey is a very confident boy – neither have any malice in them as far as we can establish after a week in the Rescue. Probably best for an adult only household or one with older, cat-savvy children please.

As far as I am aware, Juno is a Roman Goddess so why such a big lad has this name is a mystery. However, when you meet him, you will see that it does quite suit him.

Ziggy is a big, handsome tabby who has been neutered and microchipped. About 6 years old, Ziggy is an incredibly affectionate cat who has come into care due to circumstances beyond his owner’s control. He is very confident around people although can be a little shy at first.

Although a mature cat, Ziggy is an active boy who is full of himself in the nicest possible way. Having been an indoor cat for most of his life, he now appears to want to have some access to the outside world. Ziggy would settle well in a family environment but not with other animals as he wants you all to himself.

He is not small so if you favour petite little cats, he is definitely not for you. Fabulous cat with a very gentle nature. We would prefer Ziggy to go a home with an experienced cat owner who is happy to let him take his time to fully integrate into his new home.

Please email Sue on [email protected] for more details. Would welcome your sharing with anyone you think might be interested in this fab lad.......

Just had to introduce you to the two latest additions to the Rescue. Buster and Bruno are BIG black and white brothers of about 18 months-3 years who have been neutered and chipped.
Buster is long-haired and Bruno is short-coated. Both are so affectionate and gentle that they need to be in a home together as soon as possible.

I have tried to take individual photos of them but they are so intent on head-butting my hand to stroke them that I cannot get the camera still enough to get anything useful 🙃

If you like the look of these two lads then please message the page, phone me on 01908-375485 or email [email protected]

Just wonder if anyone out there is able to donate unwanted knitting wool to enable our lovely team of knitters to make more cat and dog blankets and catnip mice, etc. to help raise funds during these troubled times when we cannot do car boot sales, etc.?
We can pick up from around a 20 mile radius of Milton Keynes and can use pretty much any wool that can be used for knitting ! Many thanks.
