Heat stroke can cause irreversible damage or even death.

Dogs that are more prone to heat stroke are old dogs, overweight dogs, flat faced breeds and puppies. However any dog of any age or breed or fitness can get heat stroke.

Signs of heat stroke are:
⚠️ Faster, heavier breathing
⚠️ Excessive thirst and drooling
⚠️ Increased heart rate and pulse rate
⚠️ Dark coloured gums/ tounge (red/purple)
⚠️ Glassy eyes
⚠️ Staggering or weakness
⚠️ Seizures
⚠️ Unconsciousness

If you think your dog has heat stroke DO NOT throw cold water on them as this can cause the body to go into shock.

On warm days you can help your dogs by:

✅ Restricting exercise
✅ Make sure they have access to cool, shaded areas
✅ Give them access to fresh water
✅ Walking them first thing in the morning or last thing at night when it's cooler

👩‍🎓🐾🐾 TOOTHBRUSH TIPS 🐾🐾

The Emmipet Toothbrush is safe to use on puppies...
Remember the human one is safe to use on babies from their first tooth, as I have been saying for years 🤗

Even while they have their deciduous Teeth ( puppy Teeth)
If you are a Dog Groomer & have a puppy come to you for a groom, then they are old enough To use the Emmi Pet on....
It’s recommended by the company 6 months onwards…

However to use literally just a slither of toothpaste & begin getting them used to seeing the toothbrush and feeling the brush ….this will begin conditioning them that it’s ok and nothing to worry about…
And the younger they get used to be it, using treats or praise for conditioning & reward the better….
If we as Dog groomers use the Emmipet ethically ....
in the correct & kind way on young puppies ......
I always think this is such a wonderful thing ...
because then we are looking at generation of dogs ....
that will no longer need a general anaesthetic ....
not to have their teeth cleaned anyway....

⚠️⛔️TOXIC FLOWERS ⛔️⚠️
TO DOGS
IN SPRING …..

🌼DAFFODILS & NARCISSUS 🌼
The bulbs, flowers and leaves contain alkaloids which can cause an upset stomach or cause vomiting if eaten.
In extreme cases, they can even cause dogs to have fits.
The bulbs are the most toxic part but even water in which daffodils have been standing can be poisonous so keep your dog well away.

🌷TULIPS & HYACINTH🌷
The bulbs contain a toxin which can irritate dogs’ mouths and gastrointestinal tract, resulting in drooling, vomiting and diarrhoea.
Serious cases are rare but heart problems and difficulty breathing are also symptoms of Tulip poisoning.

………BLUEBELLS………
Bluebell plants and bulbs contain ‘scillarens’, chemicals that reduce the heart rate.
This can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy and disorientation in dogs.

……….LILIES.………
This family of flowering plant includes lily of the valley, calla lily and peace lily varieties, all of which are potentially toxic for dogs.
The pollen, bulb and foliage of these plants can cause a variety of symptoms depending on the variety of lily, but the most common symptoms are vomiting, diarrhoea, lack of appetite and drooling.

It’s always safest to avoid planting these flowers in your garden or having them in your home.
Whilst toxic poisoning caused by bulbs is fortunately rare, our vets do see an increase in dogs with an upset stomach after nibbling on garden bulbs.

If you suspect your pet has eaten a toxic bulb or plant, contact your Vet immediately.⛔️

🐾🦷TOOTHBRUSH TIPS 🦷🐾
❤️Cleaning back teeth ❤️

There is a way to clean the back teeth that keeps the dog happy and it’s much more manageable for you to do...

If you try to Hold the dogs mouth open to clean the back teeth it will be uncomfortable for the dog and you just won’t be able to manage it....

That’s why I always say start with a canine teeth anyway to clean
and get the dog used to it at the front before you even attempt the back..

After making a fuss of the dog so he’s quite happy ..
I will take the brush and gently Lift the top of his mouth muzzle and then slide gently in His mouth before he realises what I’ve done...

With my left hand I hold four fingers underneath his chin and my thumb on top of his nose gently stroking him all the time the top of his nose and literally his chin is almost resting on my 4 fingers...

I’m not holding the mouth shut tightly or anything like that it’s open slightly....
literally just so he’s resting his chin and I can keep control of it

I hold a toothbrush on the back once the dog is happy and I’ve got it in there I tend to hold it longer because bearing in mind the dogs do salivate more when you’re cleaning the back teeth ....
so added with the water and the toothpaste you have a good conductor there.

I will hold it on one of the back teeth normally at the top for approximately 30 seconds and then move it down and sideways ...
so that once I’ve got it in there if he was not over impressed to begin with I might as well leave it there for a longer period of time ...

Do take note though
obviously you cannot see where athe brushes are but you can feel
it’s really important though to make sure that you’re not holding it on the gums for that length of time...

I continue by chatting to the dog so that he is happy removing the brush cleaning in the water bowl adding more toothpaste and going back and doing the same thing again

The more relaxed the dog is they will start to open their mouth slightly and Pant ....
only a tiny bit this does then make it easier for you to see the teeth while you are cleaning them...

Do you treats & rewards when you’re doing this ...
make lots of fuss of the dog ...
I talk to them obviously to keep them relaxed and happy ...
and I have never had a problem cleaning the teeth like this ..

I actually use The Emmi-pet Ultrasonic toothbrush on my littles, it has been a teeth saver. I was desperate and sick of the vet bills getting higher, and my dogs losing teeth so I reached out to the Vintage Grooming Emporium for help. Emmi-pet does not sell or ship to the USA and I thought that others in the USA and North America should have the option of getting one of these amazing toothbrushes. It really works!! It is not a scaler and it also helps the gums.

The Emmi-pet Ultrasonic Toothbrush is a silent non-vibrating toothbrush. You do not even need to brush, the ultrasound does all the work. It gently breaks down and softens the tarter. It is 100% clinically proven gentle but effective teeth cleaning system. It is not an immediate instant fix, it does take a few weeks, but the cost of saving just one of our vet bills and the Emmi-pet had paid for itself.
