I need to express where people understand. I removed a 'hit' seagull from the main road just as you turn onto the High st next to the square. It's an area where car drivers should be going slow enough to not kill a gull.

I've noticed a lot of dead adult gulls on the roads around town this summer as well as speedy drivers, and also out past sailing club and along to Ardbeg this year. I believe there are fast young drivers deliberately hitting the gulls. I would post in the isle of bute group but there is so much seagull hatred on the island that I'm not sure I could take the comments.

As a vegan and animal lover, it is hard for me to see this type of negligence and I'm wondering about petitioning for stricter speed limits around town and beyond. e.g there could be a 20 mile limit sign up as you go up the High st. It's also on the hospital and schools route so it could make perfect sense. A lot of the seagulls also hang out around the town area so it would help them out too.

I went and removed the gull from the road and put it next to the bin. It was still warm. And I could hear it's partner calling it. I find this very disturbing that people don't think about how much we humans break up families and mated 'couple' and parents in the animal kingdom. They are bonded with their mates and want to also live their purpose and to live 'happily ever after'.

Anyway, that's all I wanted to say, as I know the people I'm friends with have empathy, compassion and understanding.
Thank you for listening ❤

Rescue

In shelters dark, where whispers fade,
A silent plea, a soul betrayed.
Among the cages, eyes implore,
For open hearts, an open door.

In corners small, where hope is frail,
A gentle touch, a wagging tail.
With every purr and playful bark,
They long for love to light the dark.

Through streets they roam, their spirits wild,
Yet hunger gnaws, like a cruel child.
But in the arms of a rescuing hand,
They find a haven, safe and grand.

With patience and care, they start anew,
From shadows grim to skies of blue.
For in their eyes, a spark ignites,
A tale of rescue, of second flights.

So let us be the guiding light,
For creatures lost in darkest night.
To rescue, love, and set them free,
To fill our lives with loyalty.
