Ralph is one of a kind! 🐾✨

He’s one of only five large dogs that I groom. In a small mobile van, big pups can be a real challenge (and a workout for my back)! But I’ve been grooming Ralph since he was a puppy, we’ve got a great routine, and he’s a total pro! Check out his spooky Halloween look from last year! 🎃🧡

Spooky science time! 🧬

🐕Like us, dogs often have unique hair whorls, or “cow licks,” in different spots on their bodies.

✂️When groomers clip over these areas, it can sometimes leave a small bald patch, which owners might think is a grooming mishap! The most noticeable whorl is usually on the chest, and when clipped short, it can look a bit like the Batman logo. 🦇

🍥These swirls are often found on the chest, elbows, hips (or “bum”), and sometimes even on the head.

🐩In certain breeds, whorl patterns serve as identifying traits, and studies have even explored possible links between whorl direction and temperament. It’s just another special detail that makes each dog one of a kind!

Gobsmacked! 🥲🥹

I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and words of wisdom at the beginning of an exciting new journey.

I have now begun my maternity leave but please don’t threat as I won’t be gone forever, I love my job and your pets too much to quit grooming!

I'm sorry to share that from next week I will be starting my maternity leave, which is unfortunately much earlier than I’d hoped. I've developed quite severe back pain over the past few weeks, which I believe is worsening from overloading myself at work. I really wanted to avoid this, as I didn't want to let any of you down, but I know I need to put my health first now. I will be arranging help for some multiple pet household days, so you may still see my van on the road a few times.

I will be sending out messages to everyone individually over the next few days with more information. I'm sorry it has come to this, baby Trevett and I appreciate your understanding and thank you for your support 💕
