This new year brings with it a new Star Patient Of The Month, introducing ✨Millie✨

Back in the summer Millie's owner noticed her losing weight but eating a lot, so she came in for a blood test where we discovered her thyroid levels were sky high!

A few different treatment options were offered, and Millie's mum opted to refer her to the Hyperthyroid Cat Centre, ( The Hyperthyroid Cat Centre ) where she stayed for 8 days and received radioiodine therapy.

Radioiodine therapy is a non-invasive, radio-active treatment that destroys thyroid tumours.

Once home Millie had to remain isolated for one month post treatment. Initially, she wasn't even allowed a bed time cuddle but as the weeks went by her interaction time gradually increased until she was back to her usual snuggly self🥰

We recently saw Millie back for a blood test and we are so thrilled to announce that she is no longer hyperthyroid and is now fully cured!🤗

Well done Millie, we are so proud of you! 🖤

Naughty naughty Bella, she just couldn't resist the temptation of minty fresh breath!🪥

Bella managed to steal 3 chewing gums (containing dangerous xylitol) and gobble them up before her parents could stop her - luckily they brought her into the practice where we gave her an injection to make her sick.🫣

Because she came to us quickly, she won't have any lasting effects from her thievery.

And although she knows she shouldn't do it again, the look on her face says it was worth it🙀

As the festivities draw to an end, so does our list of Christmas Criminals, finishing strong with..

🍭🍬 Xylitol 🍬🍭

Often found in sweets, sweeteners, chewing gum and some peanut butters, xylitol can be extremely dangerous and result in liver failure.

So to ensure your little sweethearts stay as sweet as can be, make sure your goodies are well out of reach! 🍬🥰

Some excellent tips from Drone To Home to help keep your pets safe during the fireworks ✨

Keep Your Pets Safe During New Year's Celebrations.

As we prepare to ring in the New Year, it's important to remember that our furry friends might not enjoy the festivities as much as we do. Fireworks and loud noises can be stressful and frightening for dogs.

Here are some tips to keep them safe and comfortable:

1. **Create a Safe Space:**
Make a cozy, quiet area in your home where your dog can retreat if they feel scared. Fill it with their favorite toys, blankets, and maybe some calming music.

2. **Stay Indoors:**
Keep your dog indoors during fireworks. Close windows, curtains, and doors to help muffle the sounds and reduce the chance of your dog bolting in fear.

3. **Keep Them Occupied:**
Provide treats, puzzle toys, or chew items to distract and entertain them.

4. **Stay Calm:**
Dogs pick up on our emotions. Stay calm and act normally to help reassure them that there's nothing to worry about.

5. **Use Calming Aids:**
Consider using calming products like anxiety wraps, pheromone diffusers, or natural remedies, after consulting with your vet.

6. **Exercise Early:**
Take your dog for a walk earlier in the day to burn off some energy and make them more likely to rest during the evening.

7. **Identification:**
Ensure your dog is wearing a collar with an ID tag and that their microchip information is up to date, just in case they do manage to escape.

Let's all take a moment to make sure our pets feel safe and secure tonight.
Happy New Year from all of us at Drone To Home! 🐾✨

As the festivities continue, so does our list of seasonal scaries ..

🥂🍻 Alcohol 🥂🍻

We all like a little tipple over Christmas, but be careful not to share with your pets as a "little tipple" could be all it takes for your pets to require emergency veterinary treatment!

Alcohol can cause severe dehydration and liver failure if consumed by our furry friends so make sure you contact your vets if you think your pet has consumed any alcohol. 👩🏼‍⚕️

Another common Christmas criminal for is ..

🔋 Batteries 🔋

Believe it or not, our furry friends will get their chops on whatever they can find with no exceptions!
Batteries can be extremely dangerous as they can cause a blockage within your pets GI tract requiring complicated surgery to remove, or they can leak toxic acid with irreparable effects ❤️‍🩹
If your pet has eaten batteries, please get in contact with your vet
