🩺 Did you know🩺 Veterinary Nursing isn't always "cuddling puppies and kittens all day" ... But sometimes it is just that🥰
Our days are usually very fast paced and very high stress, so when we do get the opportunity to have a little cuddle, we relish it!💚

🩺Did you know🩺 It takes Veterinary Nurses between 3 and 5 years to qualify and become Registered?👩🏼⚕️
For most, the love of animals from a young age drives them on to this career path and you can really tell, within the Buttercross team, that love is absolutely still very much there🥰

🩺Did you know, Veterinary Nursing is not always as glamorous as it may seem?🩺
While we love taking care of your pets, our days aren't filled with "cuddling cute puppies and kittens all day" ..
Despite having ample opportunities to toilet outside, some patients just prefer to let us know how they really feel with a protest 💩 .. or by eating something they really shouldn't at home, resulting in emergency induced vomiting🤢

Did you know, veterinary nurses are more than "just" nurses?!
We prepare the theatre and patients for every surgery.
We set up comfy beds and kennels for every single patient.
We take the blood samples, place IV catheters, administer IV fluids and give medication.
We test your pets blood samples, urine samples and microscope slides.
We prepare all your pets medication, and make sure it's correct before you come and collect it.
We deliver nurse consults, weight clinics, diabetes clinics, blood pressure checks and much more.
We clean, and clean and clean every surface of the building and its contents to make sure your pet is as safe as can be.
We care for your pets during their hospitalisation, we comfort them, feed them, walk them, clean them and promise them you'll be coming back for them.
We help pets take their first breaths, and hold them for their last.
We are always here for you and your pets.
So.. we are not "just" vet nurses, we have worked very hard to get the qualifications to be proud Veterinary Nurses.🩺💚

Miss Maggie came in to see us at East Bridgford because she decided to stop eating and became hypothermic 🥶
.
When rabbits stop eating (and therefore stop pooping) this is known as gut stasis and can be fatal! Luckily, Maggie's owner is a very clever Bun-Mum and brought Maggie in to see us immediately.
.
Maggie was housed in our warm incubator, and after some helpful medication, lots of encouragement and freshly picked dandelions, Maggie was munching away and back to her normal cheeky self in no time😍🐰
.
If you notice a change in your rabbits eating and pooping habits, give us a call, it could be an emergency!🐇🌿

Our lovely receptionist Sarah would like to invite you all to pop in to the Bingham surgery for a treat for your pets, a fuss from the reception team and we can also update their weight.
It’s really helpful for your pets to pop in regularly for a visit just to have a fuss and a treat, this helps them to have positive interactions with the team and this will hopefully minimise the stress they feel when coming to see us.
🐶🐱🥰
Bella the cockapoo came in to see Vet Alex on Friday as she was very subdued, vomiting, hadn't been to the toilet and wasn't eating much food. As Bella has a history of eating socks, Alex advised investigation in to any blockages. Check out the video to see what he found 🐾🩺
Our team at Buttercross wish you all a very Happy New Year 🎉
This year has been a challenging one and we are extremely greatful for your patience and understanding over the last 12 months.
We are closed until Tuesday 4th January but our emergency out of hours service is available on 0115 943 0898.
Here's to a happy and healthy new year 🥂
We thought you’d like to see what your pets get up to when they come in for the day with us.
This is Charlie who came to our East Bridgford surgery for a castration and spent most of the day playing and cuddling with our nurses. He is such a lovely playful boy, not sure who has more fun the nurses or Charlie 🥰🐱
So some 'people' are enjoying more home time. This is Tilly my Border Terrier.
Shall we spread a little joy and post your pets who are happy to have you home more
