These are our vets - we have other vets closer to where we live, but choose to drive further to go to Grace Lane.
They do a proper out of hours service.
Lots of vets claim to do out of hours, but what they actually do is pass you on to an emergency agency vet , which can be many miles away. They don't know your animal, or have it;s records, and tend to charge emergency levels of fees .
So please check your vets and arrangements for out of hours service. it is stressful enough when your pet is suddenly ill, without then being unable to get them seen in a timely way.

It's that time of year again ..................... Christmas cards.
I have just renewed my hearing dogs for deaf people subscription for 2025. I do this insatead of Christmas cards.
Some years we do Guide dogs for the blind.
If anyone would also like to do this, go to www.hearingdogs.org
See below a pic of the puppy I support - Winter, whom I chose because of the similarity in colouring to some of the puppies Mr Pickles sires.

We often get enquiries about training - anyone wanting to read around the subject I would recommend :
Working Cocker Spaniels - For the field and at home. a page by Julia Baxter, who I have been following for a few months, and she seems very sensible. There are guides & info on her page.

If anyone would like to recommend trainers / pages / books / DVDs, please post below. Probably useful if you include a geographic area where trainers are based.

I had a lovely update about 1 of our Spaniels, and it got me thinking about the different jobs they do - some of our pups havw gone on to become police sniffer dogs, mountain rescue, support dogs for various impairments. Lots are gun-dogs. But there are also the more informal jobs - such helping children at an outdoor learning centre .

Here is Sammy's story,( he is relaxing in the office on a break!)
Let me know what "job " your dog does ........

Just a little update for you about Sammy, who was from Bronte’s litter born 31.10.21. I’m now Headteacher of a special school and he has joined the team of school dogs. He’s in work with me three days a week and the children adore him. He’s so gentle with them and spends his days having walks round school, playing ball and giving anyone a cuddle who needs some comfort. He’s absolutely living his best life doing it and loves his job.

People who have visited have met Minnie - our JRT, she was 17 years old on 5 November. She spends most of her day asleep or pottering about, very deaf, but still a character who "tells off " all other dogs, regardless of size.

And all the dogs, of course.

🇬🇧This Remembrance Sunday, as you bow your head in solemn reflection of our heroes, take a moment to consider the horses that stood by our soldiers in their darkest hours. Let their memory ride alongside the heroes of war, a reminder that the sacrifices made by both humans and animals should never be forgotten.🇬🇧

The last pupster goes tomorrow!

This is a pic from years ago, not this years pups, but always a nice one of different colours, and one of only a few where they mostly all stayed still for a while ....................

What will we do with our time?
Well, it's the annual licensing inspection next month documents to review.
We are going to reconfigure the main kennels and the puppy building before it is needed in the Spring.
Tony has Jenny Wren and Branston in training on the moor for the shoot.
I have a million puppy toys on which I need to perform emergency sewing surgery.
and there is next year to plan - who to retire, which pairings to mate, etc.

So as the nights draw in and we hurtle towards the end of the year - it's been lovely seeing new faces and families, Spaniel people old and new, some blasts from the past. Hellos to gorgeous new pups and goodbyes to some of our dogs from years gone by.

Keep following the page, whether you had / have / are thinking of a Tranmire pup, I'll keep posting pics and info. I will posting about a few new ideas we have, to gauge interest and ask your opinions.

Hi everyone
Today I had a lovely email from a Tranmire Spaniel owner, with an update and a surprising stories about their dog , including one with a police officer..
I do enjoy reading about them and it's strange how I can often remember the pups and families from years ago, but stand in a room wondering what it is I went in there for !
It got me to thinking - is there a way to upload these onto a section of this page, so every one can read them / comment?

The charity I work for (WHISH) on the members page there is a files section that I can upload docs to.
Katie and I have had a look around this page, but can't see a way of doing it.
My questions to the great Tranmire hive mind are .................

1) Would you like to read stories about other Tranmire Dogs? and
2) How do I make it happen ( please email me on [email protected] so we don't fill up this page with techno info).

Thanks
Yvonne

New videos of red Cocker boy who was in the previous videos.
Here he is carrying his toys, and meeting 1 of our guard dogs, Borg.
He's very confident seeing a 45kg dog for the first time.
