Sometimes you just need to be the mate that stands by the side... and just gives that feeling you can do anything.
Chester leaves today after his owner spent 4 days with us... on the handover and got to see how he would handle all sorts of different environments. Get intouch if you would like to stay with your horse!
A horse that came in for starting and prepping for his adult life as a hopeful eventer... see what his owner has to say about him.
"He’s going really well I’m so pleased with him you’ve done a fantastic job !"
"Honestly I’m so pleased with him, took him hacking and he led from start to finish past people strimming , cars everything he was perfect 👌🏻
Today he did poles like he’s done them his whole life, you produced an exceptionally trainable attitude in him"

YeahHi Will. Thank you so much for your patience with me. The accommodation was amazing as was the stunning scenery. I am so pleased with river, I can’t thank you enough. I’m not sure if you managed to get any video of river and I but if you did would you be able to share it with me when please 👍
Great to see our horses still going from strength to strength... check out a bit of then and now.. with her life....
So, as you do, I bought an unbroken horse unseen, from Ireland. The mare turned up and she was pretty unhandled and I was well and truly out of my depth. After a bit of Googling and speaking to a few horsey friends I called Will. He was charming and very helpful. He kindly collected said chestnut mare and calmly took her out of the field and loaded her into is trailer…. What a relief! After that point he kept me well informed of her progress and was always available to talk on the phone. At this stage I was unsure if she would ever be suitable for me - and now a few months on from having her back she is wonderful! I am so grateful to Will and his team from taking a horse that could not be patted to being calm, happy and trusting in humans. Will is a master of his trade and without him my mare would not be what she is now. I will always recommend Will and his uber calm approach to handing the horses, he’s one of a kind and I am so grateful and glad of his services! I must also add that the fact that he halter trains the horses is a valuable asset when you get them home, as if they question something, such as loading they remember the pressure and release of the halter and think, oh yes…. I’ll go on the trailer!!

I can't express how much sending Elan to you. @whbt has given her the building block to faces the stresses that a modern horse experience. Plus being with you for those days helped my Confidence and knowledge (plus an amazing space to stay) I need to msg you about staying next year and exploring your wonderful hacking with my girl.
With so many pretty rides, it's so hard to choose where next to go!!
Is your horse full of confidence?
We are going to start offering lessons. Come for one or a few days!...
So 6th and final lesson on our 4 day handover.... @lambournenicola started only wanting to go on the shortest ride to being confident enough to ride away film and push forward... so good to see.
Day 3 5th lesson and look at the confidence.....
So day 2 3rd lesson.
This is where it all starts clicking together this was going to be a small ride due to the nerves of the owner... but I managed to push through these .. and get a fairly decent ride in so full of confidence and happy... you do have to push those demons sometimes.....
Day 2. lesson 2.
Here we do some ground work for confidence, often owners can be a little nervous when riding their horses for the first time... I like to show them how relaxed on the ground which sets them up better in the afternoon when they go to ride...
This horse didn't like anything behind it either... as well as a dislike to mounting.
So this is great for the owner to see....

This horse came in for Mounting issues...
This horse owner has chosen to stay for 3 nights in the Old Dairy @bircherfarmstud to have 6 lessons over 4 days to really help their partnership grow.
🌟 He had a bad fitting saddle that has been addressed....
🌟I have shown the owner the Groundwork that we will do over the next few days.
🌟 we will go all over what I have done so the client can be confident going forward.
I am finding a real benefit to the stay over where confidence in the partnership can really grow and thrive.
A horse that's been started and brought to us to ride away. Get her out the arena and into the real world.

We sent my 4yo to Will for a few weeks to start ridden work. He settled at the yard straight away and I got weekly updates on what he’d got up to. We stayed onsite for a few days at Bircher Farm Stud (which was perfect!) and I had some lessons and rides before taking him home so I could see what he’d learnt and how he was going. Will did an amazing job - he was a much more respectful horse and I could even ride out on our own on the common past sheep and pigs, giving me confidence for when I was back home. Katie lovegrove
How do your first rides out go? Are you ready for anything? Are your ponies?
