So true

So true

Please guys - this mentality that you can get a thoroughbred that’s been out and about, a true allrounder, that will hack down the motorway alone, with no vices lumps bumps or sarcoids and quiet enough to put your granny on for 1000 just because it’s a thoroughbred NEEDS to stop.
A sports horse the same would be costing you 15k+!
A TB is not a lesser breed. A TB should not be given away just because it’s a TB.
I’ve had fancy warmbloods, sports horses, Spanish, Connemara’s.. and I’ve gone back to TBs for a reason.
There’s no breed that is as versatile or will work as hard for you when you push the right buttons.
No they aren’t more prone to break down, every breed can break down! The only young retired horse I have with injury issues is a Connemara! Warmbloods and sport horses are just as prone to KS, tendon and suspensories, even more prone to OCD. Welshes and cobs are prone to PSSM, or CPL. Connies are prone to having hock issues.. they are horses! It’s not breed specific that TBs are the only ones that might get injuries!
I’ve never had a TB a fraction as sharp as some of the warmbloods I’ve sat on. (And don’t ask me to sit on a cob; I won’t! I’m terrified of them!)
Even if they are racehorses, someone still has or needs to put a lot of time money and energy into making the school master you are looking for.
I’ve not found one TB that can’t be turned round into a fantastic allrounder with patience!
Time is money!
Stop undervaluing these fantastic horses and start respecting their abilities!
Picture of my wonderful crystal tiger I had for nearly 10 years who came off the track a nappy moody mare and turned into a horse of a lifetime who would jump through fire for me.

I must make it clear that I trust the SEIB Search for a Star and Racehorse to Riding Horse judges implicitly. It is ridiculous to assume that those within the small showing community are not friends outside of the show ring, but this in no way threatens the integrity of our carefully chosen, trusted judges. In addition, there is a conformation and a ride judge in the ridden classes, the decision around qualification does not come down to the opinion of just one person.

Whoever is forwarding anonymous, malicious and threatening emails to the Championship organisers, stop, or I will be forwarding all the information to the police.

Please remember that we have strict social media rules and if a competitor is seen to be bringing the series into disrepute, they will be disqualified from competing in our competitions.

CHELTENHAM GOLD CUP WINNER TAKES HOYS TICKET AT DEFENDER BURGHLEY

The 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Native River was the convincing winner of the SEIB Insurance Brokers Racehorse to Riding Horse qualifier at Defender Burghley on 8 September.

In winning this high-profile class in the Main Arena on the final day of the Defender Burghley Horse Trials, Native River and his rider Jazmin Hosgood have qualified for the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse championship. Owned by Tom Malone, Native River looked a picture in the class of 20 ex-racehorses at Defender Burghley.

Ride judge Michaela Bowling said: “Our winner went amazingly, he was like an out-and-out show horse to ride.”

Conformation judge Stuart Campbell added: “It was the presentation, movement, balance, rhythm and self-carriage of the winner that set him apart. It is wonderful to see ex-racehorses becoming truly multi-purpose horses.”

Winning owner Tom Malone said: “I’m as proud as I could be of this horse, I get more pleasure than I can tell you out of this success. We set out with this as our goal and he’s gone and done it. I bought him as a four-year-old out of a yard in Ireland after he’d unseated his jockey in a point-to-point and it’s been a beautiful journey ever since.”

SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse organiser Nicolina MacKenzie said: “Wow, what a winner to have at our final qualifier of the season. The class today went off brilliantly and we were delighted to see so many stunning thoroughbreds and their riders out enjoying themselves. Huge thanks to Defender Burghley for having us here once again.”

The SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse class has been held in the Defender Burghley Arena on the final day of the horse trials since 2012.
