Rabbit Rescue North West A foster-run charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming rabbits in the North West area. Our aim is to help bunnies in need to find loving forever homes.

Rabbit Rescue NW was founded when it was realised there was an urgent need for a rabbit rescue in the north west. Bunnies are the third most popular pet in Britain but are also a very neglected and often misunderstood pet. They are a highly intelligent and sociable animal, who need daily exercise and mental stimulation. All our rabbits are fully vaccinated and neutered before leaving for their forever homes.

Meet James 🩵
James is estimated around 1 years old, he is vaccinated and neutered.
James came to us some time ago in a very poor state. He was urine soaked, extremely thin and tears/marks on his ears.
His foster Mum is absolutely in love with him, he’s described as an absolute whirlwind!
Cheeky, bundles of energy but a loveable sweet little boy that is so happy for his new lease of life.

He is looking for a bun wife to call his own and share his new love for life 🩷
James is currently in foster care in Stockport SK5

It's another day and sadly another stray bunny 💔
Once again, we are completely full and our emergency spaces were also full. Luckily, one of our amazing fosterers sprung into action to create a safe space for another young bunny.
We would like to introduce you all to Beau. Beau will be getting vaccinated, neutered and vet checked.

Like all rescues, we are struggling to keep up with the demand of stray and dumped bunnies.

If anyone would like to donate towards Beau's care, details are in comments, or if you want to send some yummy treats or tasty hay please drop us a message. As Beau really deserves to feel spoilt and loved ❤️

This morning our wonderful team of fosterers had the chance to get together to celebrate Rabbit Rescue North West turning 10 years old!

There is no better way to celebrate than spending it with rescue animals, but this time different animals than rabbits.

A huge thank you to Pets In Need - lancs for letting us spend time with all your wonderful rescue animals and for letting us get stuck in with revamping the donkey stable and power washing, it was so much fun!

A huge thank you to Victoria Cakes for making and donating us a delicious vegan cake for all the fosterers to enjoy, it went down a treat - thank you so much for your kindness ❤️

Finally, a huge thank you as always to our wonderful team of fosterers, without you there wouldn't be a rescue 🐇

Keep your eyes peeled on Monday for the final part of our birthday celebrations and it's a good one, you won't want to miss 👀

Jake (left) is hopping off home today following a successful bond with his beautiful new wife. Some of you may remember Jake who was been kept in a cupboard by his previous owner and he was terrified of everything.
Jake has undergone a lot of rehabilitation with his foster carers who did such a wonderful job helping him grow in confidence and learn how to be a bunny. Now he is thriving with a huge new home to enjoy with his new family and wifebun. Be forever happy beautiful boy, you deserve this ❤️

💚 Meet Bianca & Buster 💚

Bianca (left) and Buster (right) are a bonded pair of rabbits who have come back into rescue through no fault of their own. They are looking for a new forever home together.

Bianca is around 6 years old and a sweet natured bunny, she is very inquisitive and friendly. Bianca has been fully vaccinated and was neutered a long time ago.

Buster is around 3 years old and is a little bit more shy than Bianca but he is getting used to his foster mum now and starting to show us his lovely little personality. Buster was neutered as a young rabbits and is also fully vaccinated.

They are in foster care in BL7.

💕 We would like to introduce Hana. 💕

This little lady is estimated to be around 5-7 months old has been brought into our care this evening after straying for around 10 weeks 😢.

It is believed Hana was abandoned with another rabbit when she was tiny. The other bunny was caught sometime ago. Sadly Hana wasn’t and we have been told this evening she was kicked by her previous owner recently. How anyone can do this is utterly beyond us.

Hana will receive the best of care now starting with a trip to the vets tomorrow. She is scared and a little bewildered this evening but will be carefully watched by her wonderful foster mum. She has sore eyes and will be thoroughly checked over.

Hana will receive absolutely everything she needs whilst with us, but if anyone would like to contribute towards care, food, neutering and vaccinations or towards toys, forage and treats to help us give her all the spoiling she deserves, it would help hugely.

🎉 10 years of rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming bunnies! 🎉

Rabbits enter our care for many different reasons. Once in our care, they are neutered and vaccinated prior to being available for adoption.

We follow RWAF sizing and housing guidelines when passing our homechecks. We do not accept hutches as a main housing option. We can provide example images of housing to help. Runs must be predator proof. We won’t negotiate on safety or size of accommodation, please don’t be offended if we make suggestions!

🌟 Where are we based?
RRNW does not have a main centre. We are a foster based rescue. We have a small team of amazing home based fosters right across the North West.

🌟Do we offer bonding?
Rabbits need companionship, this is a basic welfare need for them. We provide a bonding service when you adopt from us. Your current rabbit must also be neutered and vaccinated, we will require proof of this as part of our homecheck process.

🌟What if my circumstances change?
RRNW bunnies have rescue back up for life. We will always take bunnies adopted from us and their companion back into our care. There are no restrictions on age or anything else, this would form part of your adoption agreement with us for piece of mind for us all and the bunnies!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿We hope Footballs coming home🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

But more than anything we hope a home is coming along for Jeff and Ivy. Ivy was handed into a vets as a stray and never claimed, and shes the most gentle girl ever. Jeff has now been in rescue for over 12 months, after been abandoned in a plastic box at a very young age. Although he's landed on his paws finding himself his very own wife in the form of Ivy, we haven't had one adoption enquiry for these two 💔

Jeff and Ivy have a fantastic foster home but really need their forever home together. They are so perfect in every way, but like many other REWs (red eyed whites) in rescues they take much longer to be chosen 😪

Both Jeff and Ivy are neutered and vaccinated, and desperate for some of their own humans to love them forever.

If you are interested in giving this pair a home please message the page, or share their story to help them find their forever home.🏠🐇🐇🤞❤️

‼️🤞Long term foster home appeal🤞‼️

We need a very special home for two of our bunnies in our care – Storm and Comet.

Storm and Comet are such lovely bunnies and really are friendly and very playful. They are only 9 months old.

Sadly, Storm has been receiving ongoing vet care recently which the results have shown she has a neurological condition. Whilst Storm has this condition it really doesn’t prevent her from loving life, and binkying her energy every day. She is very closely bonded with her brother Comet, and we need to find them a special home together.

Being a long-term foster home for this pair, means you will already have the correct housing in place (either indoors or outdoors), and provide them with the food and hay they need, but the rescue will continue to cover their ongoing vet treatment costs. If this is something you can offer or are interested in providing a home for this beautiful pair, please message the page so we can provide you with further information.

They are currently under the care of one of our Vets in Bolton and ideally, we would like this to remain in place. However, we do have vets across Lancashire and Greater Manchester which their care could be transferred to. Storm is on a management plan and therefore the vet trips are minimal.

We really want to find this pair a loving home, but the rescue will always cover the costs of what they need. So please share this appeal for a special home so we can find them their happy ever after!

🐰 How many rabbits? 🐰

📣 Over the past 10 years the dedicated volunteers of Rabbit Rescue North West have saved 2️⃣4️⃣4️⃣7️⃣ rabbits.

That’s 2447 fluffy little lives which many would have continued to suffer through neglect, abuse, lack of space, lack of companionship, lack of vet treatment, struggled to live after being abandoned and some are very much loved bunnies who have come into our care simply through a change in personal circumstances.

We are beyond proud of the work we do. Not only our current trustees and fosterers, but all of the individuals who have selflessly volunteered for the rescue over the past 10 years to save this number of rabbits, the most complex of pets and definitely the most misunderstood, yet the most wonderful.

We are sure if the rabbits could speak they would say a huge thank you to everyone who has made this happen. 🥰

🐰 How many rabbits?? 🐰.

This month the rescue is 10 🥳. We take in as many bunnies as we have capacity (often there are a few extras in our homes! 🙈) and help as many as possible.

But how many have the rescue saved over the 10 years it has been helping rabbits? 🤔. Answers below! We will reveal the actual number on Sunday evening.

‼️Did you know‼️

As we celebrate the rescues 10th birthday this month, we are going to be doing some facts about the rescue.

Our first fact about the rescue is relating to vet bills. Did you know over the 10 years the rescue has been functioning, we have spent £206,684.81 on vet bills!!!

Vet bills continue to be the biggest cost for the rescue and we are so very grateful for any support. We would also like to say a huge thank you to all the vets who continue to work with us and provide exceptional care for rabbits when they most need it.

We wouldn't be able to afford these vet bills without all of you our wonderful supporters, so we want to say a huge thank you for your continued support. You're all amazing ❤️

Our Story

Rabbit Rescue NW was founded in 2014 when it was realised there was an urgent need for a rabbit rescue in the north west. Bunnies are the third most popular pet in Britain but are also a very neglected and often misunderstood pet. They are a highly intelligent and sociable animal, who need daily exercise and mental stimulation. Our aim is to help bunnies in need to find loving forever homes. All our bunnies are fully vaccinated and neutered before they leave for their forever homes.
