From 10 June 2024 cats over 20 weeks old must be and registered on a compliant database 📆

By microchipping their cats, owners can increase the likelihood that they will be reunited with their beloved pet in the event that they go missing.

This afternoon at 12.30pm our elderly border terrier cross ran off at Brownhills Inclosure but then seen in Tiptoe village.

He is 16, hard of hearing and his eyesight isn’t that great.
He is mircochopped and has a collar on with contact details.

Our Easter weekend saw this lovely Boy being born by cesarean section. We named him “Bruno” (Uno) because he was the only one. Not sure the owners will keep the name 😁 Glad to report Penny & Baby Bruno are doing fantastically 🐾

It's Good Friday!🐥
Easter wouldn’t be complete without lots of chocolate. This of course means an increase in cases of accidental ingestion in pets, particularly dogs.
The Animal PoisonLine and Veterinary Poisons Information Service see a huge increase in call numbers relating to chocolate at this time of year. Chocolate contains two related chemicals that can be toxic to pets - theobromine and caffeine. The amount of caffeine and theobromine in products will vary due to natural differences in cocoa beans and the formulation of the products. Common signs associated with large consumption of chocolate in animals include vomiting (in animals that can), diarrhoea, hyperactivity and restlessness, increased thirst, increased heart rate and tremors.
Although chocolate poisoning is very common in pets (especially dogs!) and frequently makes them ill, fatal cases are rare.

The CRGV season continues and we can confirm, based on kidney analysis, another two cases for December 2023, and 10 cases for January 2024.

Locations of confirmed cases include Surrey, Berkshire, Staffordshire, Buckinghamshire and Herefordshire, Dorset, Wiltshire and a case from London. The UK has now seen 318 confirmed cases, with 10 confirmed in 2024 so far.

We are also thrilled to report we have recently discharged a CRGV survivor, the lovely Matilda (pictured here). Sadly, two of her family members were lost to CRGV. Whilst overjoyed to get her home, our wonderful nursing team will miss her after their amazing and intensive support!

We remain aware of other potential cases in the UK – with the numbers above considered a minimum; however, certain criteria require fulfilment to allow us to confirm a case (and add it to our map) based on a review of a patient’s history and tissue analysis. We continue to support vets with this assessment and encourage concerned colleagues to get in touch.

This disease is still rare, so we’re advising dog owners to remain calm but vigilant and seek advice from their local vet if their dog develops unexplained skin lesions.
