Oscar Pet Foods delivers in the local area no matter the weather! ❄️☃️😁
It’s definitely been an interesting first delivery week of the New Year! ❄️🧊 🚚
A huge thank you to my amazing customers for being understanding about having to rearrange Tuesday’s deliveries. My van is pretty useless in the snow! ❄️ And to those that could wait until next week 🙏🏼
A little bit of a different delivery method was needed for those that needed food urgently but my van couldn’t get to! 🛷 At OSCARs we will make sure your pet never runs out of food, whatever the weather! ❄️ 🐶 🐱❤️

Overweight pets can easily become couch potatoes and find it hard to leave the house to exercise. It is important to meet our dog's exercise and stimulation needs as well as feeding them a balanced diet, correct for their life-stage, to keep them fit & healthy.🐾🐶
If your dog starts to receive too many calories alongside too little exercise, the weight can slowly creep up! Read more here⬇
Fleas like a warm environment, ideally somewhere between 18-27 degrees centigrade, but with a combination of winter heating and summer sun, fleas have the ideal temperature to be active all year round.🐶🐱

Deciding to add a new puppy to your family is a big decision that can’t be taken lightly. A puppy is a 15-year commitment, and you are responsible for every aspect of their life.🐶
Puppies are great fun, but they are also hard work. By planning ahead and being prepared you can choose the perfect new best friend .🐾
It's that time of year again when we think about our waistlines and the extra calories we consumed over the festive period. Our diet begins, and the gym is booked for our New Year resolutions, but what about our four-legged pooches? Have they also enjoyed a treat too many? An extra Christmas dinner? Visitors feeding goodies?🐾
Visit our blog 'Post Christmas Bulge: Pets' for guidance helping to manage your pet's weight 🐶⬇️
Dog owners usually associate itchy dogs with the spring and summer, but skin problems can occur all year round, and some are actually more common in winter❄🐶

Winter can be a tough time for wild birds. Although they adapt for the change in the temperature, as the ground hardens, and the days become shorter, there is less time to forage and food becomes scarce. So, let us lend you a helping hand to make those wintry months easier for them!🐦❄️

With New Year's Eve just around the corner, it is important to think about dogs that suffer from noise sensitivity and may find firework displays scary.🐶
Visit our blog "Noise Sensitivity In Dogs" for our guidance 🐾⬇️
Demonstrating a fear response to unexpected or unusual noises such as construction work, field shooting, thunderstorms and fireworks is a natural feature of dog behaviour, regardless of the triggering stimulus, and can be damaging to the dog’s welfare, leading to emotional and even physical problems if not properly managed.🐾
With New Year Celebrations over the next week, here are some tips for preparing for fireworks 🎆⬇

As we approach autumn, leaves will start to fall and along with it can be a fair few acorns. 🍂
Did you know that acorns (and the entire Oak tree) is poisonous to dogs?
Here's the signs and symptoms of acorn poisoning in dogs. Be sure to save this post for later and share to raise awareness! 🐶
It's difficult suffering from anxiety and unfortunately our precious pooches can experience this too 🥺
Being very sociable animals, dogs need plenty of human companionship to feel safe and happy. When they are left alone, some dogs can feel distressed.
The return to work and school after the summer holidays can be a big change for dogs, so it's super important to understand the signs of separation anxiety and what you can do to prevent it ❤️
Read our vets' advice for more info on how to stop the signs, prevention and treatment: http://pdsa.me/mlD0
[Visual description: An infographic outlining treatment for separation anxiety in dogs. This includes: Getting your dog assessed by a certified behaviourist will help you understand why your dog feels the way they do. Making adjustments in your home such as building your dog a den/safe place and giving them a choice of activities to do when they are alone. Creating a routine for your dog so they know when you are leaving and what happens when you are out of the house can help build their confidence and reduce their anxiety. Remember to take your time. Managing separation related problems takes a lot of time, effort and commitment from owners. Most dogs will improve with the right help but this change is likely to take some time. Medication can help alongside behavioural therapy, but can usually be stopped once they’ve learnt to cope on their own.]

is often described as ‘the teenage phase’, because the behaviour changes we see in dogs can be very similar to those we see in adolescent humans. You may hear people describe their as being rebellious, but they really aren’t planning a takeover, they are just dealing with the challenges of canine puberty!🐶

Do you know about the dangers of giant hogweed? 😨
It may look harmless, but contact with giant hogweed can actually lead to serious burns, blisters and long-term skin damage to both pets and humans.
The stems and leaves of the plant contain dangerous toxins, putting pets at risk even just by brushing against it! The toxin is further concentrated in the sap released when the plant is damaged or broken, increasing the risk. Although pets may have some protection from their fur, hairless or thin-furred areas (such as the ears, mouth and belly) can be badly affected 😟
Giant Hogweed can be found throughout the UK. Particularly common along river banks, it flowers in June and July and looks like a huge cow parsley plant. Dogs can come across it while exploring undergrowth, so we’re urging pet owners to keep a close eye when walking their dogs.
If your pet comes across it, be sure to wash their coat well with soap and water, whilst protecting yourself using gloves. And if you’re worried, contact your vet immediately!
[Image description: An infographic explaining the signs and symptoms to look out for that might be an indication that your pet has been in contact with the plant, Giant Hogweed. This includes: Sensitive, red skin, blisters and ulcers, swelling, rashes and itching, excessive licking or scratching, eye irritation, vomiting (if ingested), diarrhoea (if ingested), mouth ulcers (if ingested).]
