Wednesday 6th November marks National Stress Awareness Day, which seeks to raise awareness of the negative effects that stress can have on our health. While stress can sometimes serve as a helpful motivator, too much of it can negatively impact our mood, body, and mind. This is where our pets play an important role: they can greatly help reduce stress and boost mental well-being. Interacting with pets has a soothing effect on the body, helping to lower blood pressure, ease anxiety, and increase feelings of social support. Petting or cuddling animals can release oxytocin, a hormone that promotes relaxation and bonding, while also lowering cortisol levels, which are linked to stress. Feeling stressed? Take a few extra moments today to cuddle your pet and ease those feelings of tension.

One of our clients found what is presumed to be an escaped indoor cat last night in Westbourne. He is male, neutered but his microchip unfortunately isn’t registered so we are unable to find out who the owners are. Please contact us on 01202 532817 if you recognise him/know the owner.

Poor Cleo was experiencing sneezing fits and bloody nasal discharge. She was sedated and had her nose and throat investigated. Rosanna found a big grass blade caught down the length of her soft palate and nasal cavity! Cleo will be much more comfortable now it’s been removed 😺

We have been looking after pets of the Bournemouth area for over 30 years, and although much of the technology has changed in that time, our dedication and commitment hasn’t changed a bit. The size of our practice means we have nurses and vets with expertise and experience in all aspects of veterinary care. Stokewood Veterinary Centre now boasts some of the most modern facilities and equipment after the significant investment .But we remain a family-oriented practice; we know your pet is a member of your family so pride ourselves in treating every patient as an individual.

In addition, our excellent support, reception and admin staff help us provide consistently high levels of care for our clients.
